  1. May be that the lamp reflector is discoloured, changed one on mine last year -- made a big difference to brightness Think it cost me about £10 for the plastic one, but you can also get the chrome type which is more expensive and will last longer. either is better than shelling out for new lamp Cheers LD
  2. Good mixed bag mate. Well done
  3. OK Markha, i,ll send them recorded delivery if only it could be that easy mate . Thanks to all for the comments , hope to get out soon and try them on old charlie. Cheers, LD
  4. Been loading for my .223 for some time now, at last i think i have a recipe that may be one to stick with. Shot these 2 x 3round groups @ 220yds i don,t think it is too bad for an old geezer like me rifle- Howa 1500 .223. Powder - H335- 25.6 grns. Head-50grn Sierra varminter. Primer - CCI small rifle. Case -Remington. AOL-2.240". What you guys think? LD
  5. Hi Deker, thanks for the reply. I originally got this scope to go on the rimmy, but when i had a good look through it seemed to be a decent bit of kit, if anything slightly clearer than the one on my .223. i was just wondering if they would handle the extra recoil of the centre fire and would it be good enough use when lamping old charlie @ 150yds or so.. Thanks. LD
  6. Hi mate, reloading would be the best option, but if you don,t then prvi ammo is your cheapest bet. I have a ruger 77/22 in hornet and the 45 gns fire fairly accurate and have good stopping power down range, you can also keep the cases to reload if you ever change your mind you won,t be disappointed with the little hornet. Good luck. LD
  7. Any one out there got a sun shade for sale, screw on type, to fit a hawke 4 x 16-44mm scope. Thanks. LD
  8. No need mate, just put them on trickle charge after a nights use, my batteries are still going strong after 4 years + LD
  9. Got myself a used scope as above, its the 4-16 x 44 vesrsion with milldot ret, The scope is in mint condition and the optics seem very clear and bright ( for the money ). I am not sure what rifle to mount it on ie .22rim, hornet, or my .223? just wondered if anyone else used one of these scopes and have an opinion, would it be ok on the .223 for shooting 200+ yds, or more at home on the r/f Cheers. LD
  10. hi mate what magnification is the scope. LD
  11. Hi Lew, i bet he had earache after that Granch.

  14. Hi mate. i used some 30gn burger h/points about a year back, shot very well from my ruger, good accuracy and they don,t half shift still cause quite a bit of damage when they hit. Only prob for me is getting my hands on some LD Hi mate if the berger hp are as I suspect target bullets, they can legaly be sent through the post, try henry krank, leeds as I know they stock them Thanks for the info mate LD

  17. Well done mate good find. I was lucky to get a pair of Swift binos from a boot sale about a year ago, excellent quality, mind you i had to pay £8
  18. Agreed , If you have to use a high vel round these are about the best for accuracy imo. LD

  20. Hi Matt,Got the rifle second hand from the Sportsman newport, the stock is a nice piece of wood but i am not sure if its original!! My mate has a Howa with synthetic stock and this has about 2mm of clearance full length of barrel I will have a go with sand paper this week. How much clearance do you think would be acceptable ? Cheers LD

  22. Have a Howa 1500 in .223 cal, it is fitted with a walnut stock, did the test with a piece of paper between barrel and stock recess and there is no clearance at all Will this effect the point of impact when the barrel warms up?? Do you think it is worth getting this fixed and if so is it something i can do myself. i do struggle to get consistent results when at the range, any ideas please... Thanks LD
  23. Try them all, then stick to the one that gives best grouping in your set up. LD
  24. Hi mate, I have a ruger 77/22 in .22K hornet, its the dogs bits i also use a .223 but have shot many more fox with the hornet!! don,t be put off when people say about the hornet not being accurate, or fiddly to reload, or expensive it,s all a load of nonsense IMO. Spend some time finding the round to suit your rifle and they are as good as any other calibre. i reload using 40gn blitz king heads, 12.6gn Lil-gun powder, cci small rifle primers i think they do about 2900 ft/sec and are good out to 200yds drop foxy on th spot My mate uses a cz and these are also a good piece of kit, but i prefe
