  1. my jill will bite me on the part of my foot from my leg to my foot up top but only when she comes in the house, if she's outside she never bites, she just gets excited in the house and will on occasion bite otherwise shes really good the hob is getting better, bit me nasty the first time that was a good story by the way
  2. yeah talk about "OMG a anti ferret" my jill will eat rabbit, but is not fussed on it either way, she only eats it if there are no biscuits, the hob on the other hand if he grabbed it any quicker he'd take me hand im sure lol, god help those bunnies i put him onto
  3. of course i know who you are Lakeys dog is doing well lately will be going out with him in another week for some ferreting and stuff
  4. you could try putting a light near them for a few hours at night, as was said they are somewhat subject to light with laying, and when they are moulting, dont kno wthe seasons over there, here its summer and chooks laying heaps my favourites are the araucanas, with their blue eggs

  7. hehe, u really dont like the deerhounds do ya mate you should know tho, that deerhounds have a working history which dates back to when the first settlers came to this country. now that may of been 200 years ago, and dogs off all types have changed a lot in that time, but we use what we have, and yes the stags might have some wolf or even borzoi, if that is waht is required of the line then so be it you made me realise something a while ago, who cares if a dog has mixed running blood in it, the most important this is that it works, does what you want etc etc hence the fact that
  8. sounds like you had a good time, where abouts are the holes along the tracks, to the sides or under the tracks themselves? are they old tracks or are there trains going by
  9. yes we get snakes and big spiders, ive only seen one snake go into a warren, and for some bloody reason its the same warren i tried digging to and stuck my hand down, i have no idea what i was thinking lol snakes and spiders will kill a ferret no matter how big it is, weve some of the worst spiders and snakes in the world here, as some of u may know everything here bites, stings or pisses on you haha
  10. 26, birthday in a month tho
  11. wilddog, go on google and look up ferreting under the search only australia you should find a few of the ferreting societies in australia, there is a western australia one, south australia and melbourne one which have some very good info on them. feed good quality ferret/kitten food not cheap crap you can get in the supermarkets http://www.ferretcentral.org/faq/wholefaq.html there is a good link to some handy info, bear in mind some of the ppl that write in these are not hunters and tend to have some funny thoughts about ferrets and hunting take from it what you will, can o
  12. we dont have stoats, nor do we have any problems with rats here, i took mine out not long after 3 months old, she didnt show much to start with, and now i think about it I believe your better waiting a bit longer as has been said, get her into pipes, feed her rabbit with teh skin on etc to get her used to teh smell, mine switched on after eating a bucks nuts(boy rabbit for you young folk lol ) then i put her down a fresh warren and she went nuts, 15 min earlier she'd been down 2 warrens with rabbits and had just gone in and come out of other holes since then she basically stays down un
  13. Gday mate Stags good, 23in to shoulder, taken him out for a bush trip, just to see the sights and smells what i meant about the whippet/greys were the grey is faster, but eh whippet more agile, the grey is faster then the whippet but the whippet holds his own for the first few hundred
  14. isnt the whippet more agile then the greyhound, but the greyhound faster over a distance of say a mile but the whippet will be near as fast over the first few hundred yards
  15. baldie, a mate of mine has a deer x grey x wolfhound, shes fully grown and only 25 inches just a matter of selectively breeding size i would say, having said that she was not bred to be that small, just turned out like that
  16. good post kane, here most of the kangaroo dogs would have a majority of deerhound x greyhound blood in them, they work well, but then they are used on things which are a hell of a lot bigger then hare some of the lines have wolfhound in them too, some have bull infused to add gameness, but by and large i'd say mostly deerhound x grey. I know guys who consider the true roo dogs to be purely deerhound x grey line bred, but adding wolf or borzoi is allowable
  17. yeah its great stuff, it appears more and more ppl are trying it over here, i see it in the shops, used to be a small section, but its slowly growing in size, probably doubled in the last year at the local shops anyway
  18. ive used that recipe a few years back, nice, i had antoher one that was a bit better, but unfortunalely i have lost it, and the person that gave it to us we never see its good, i dont really ever drink, but i do like that mix
  19. same as Hairybull, i feed Iams Kitten biscuits, as its decent and for $20 for a small bag it lasts months when you feed rabbit as well
  20. that thing looks like it would tear a fox a new asshole lol
  21. dont know about over there, but here if u grab them and pull em out they can inject poison into you, which makes them itch like hellfire for weeks and weeks, i learnt the hard way and would use it aas a last resort now
  22. lol u could say that putting wolf into them would increase size, and bulk, bit more punch at the take i guess you could say, not necessary but would help wouldnt want too much in there tho, slow them up a bit
  23. if u can get a wild pig skin, drag it around and get the dogs to find it that should give them the knowledge to know what they are scenting for
  24. i would be to if that thing was there and the dogs werent swinging haha
