Possibly badgers, have a look first thing in the morning, the next time that it rains, for footprints. Badgers, foxes and rabbits will quite happily co-habit in circumstances as this.

And, if like myself, you are wondering how/if it works, this is from Wikipedia; A stainless steel soap is a piece of stainless steel, usually in the shape of a soap bar. Its purpose is to neutralize or reduce strong odours from the hands, present from handling odorous ingredients such as garlic, onion or fish.[1] The shape of a soap bar is purely decorative and any piece of stainless steel, such as a spoon, can be used for the same purpose. Stainless steel soap There are similar applications, such as stainless steel disks in shoes and dishwashers, that are used to absorb odors. [2]

What would be achieved by 27 posts of me saying my religion is the best, followed by 27 of yours saying that yours is? What other discussion can you have on religion, other than being critical of another? You are not seriously suggesting that people on a hunting forum would compare the stories in the C of E bible with those in the Qu'ran ? Best left well alone methinks.

I don't think that discussing such a deep rooted subject as religion (any religion) on a forum would achieve anything other than degrade into a slanging match.

A handful of Persil (or equivalent) powder, not the liquid, nice and gritty, gets the smell out a treat. Gets the smell of fox blood out as well.

Unfortunately these practices are becoming a part of life now. How the Government can say that immigration is good for the country bewilders me. If we have 50,000 immigrants, who are here to work, that's 50,000 jobs lost to UK employees, or am I not understanding this correctly? I can see the attraction to employers, paying the minimum wage to immigrants, but how does any of this benefit the country? Certainly not in keeping prices down.

I can't claim to speak from experience here but from all I've learned on this forum you must be stark staring mad even to consider the idea. The 22.250 is probably the ultimate 22 centrefire fox round. The .204 is a dodgy little lightweight boy's toy. If you really want to go for a serious fox round apply for a condition for a .243. Bear in mind that the 204 was developed as a "varmint" round. It kills little skinny groundhogs and squirrels and rats but it is neither use nor ornament for shooting anything with a body more than about 1cm thick the problem with 22.250 is noise and barrel

Definition of "public place"
bobndog replied to othickman's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
A real can of worms this one; Public Place under the Road Traffic Act In order for it to be proven that somewhere is a "Public Place" for the purposes of road traffic offences it must be shown by the prosecution that: Those people who are admitted to the place in question are members of the public and are admitted as such, not as members of some special or particular class of the public (eg people belonging to an exclusive club) or as a result of some special characteristic that is not shared by the public at large, and; Those people are so admitted with the permission, express -

That's the whole point. The punt gun that I fired didn't have a buttstock, to hold into your shoulder. It had two ringbolts that were used to tie the gun to the prow of the boat. When the gun fired, the whole boat recoiled about 6-8 feet through the water. I know you're all laffing at me here, but this dam' thing was about 1 1/2" calibre. Muzzle loaded, black powder, flintlock. You didn't squeeze the trigger, you pulled the lanyard. Ric Yep, that's exactly what you do and how you do it, 6-8 feet through the water is about right, that's the recoil. Put it anywhere near your face or shou

Unfortunately this is the way of the world at the moment, even more unfortunately, I cannot see the situation improving in the future. This is the sort of behaviour that I have seen in third world countries a great deal, laughing at others misfortunes, it doesn't say much for us as a nation does it?

Very surprised with your experience, I have been using CCI subsonics for 20 plus years with no problems, they are also the most accurate round in my 10/22's.

not trying to BS anyone mate. i'll be the first to admit i know sod all about piunt guns except one of my mates knows someone who has one and sent me a pic of him with his punt. thus the pic :icon_redface: i just assumed you'd be able to lever the gun into the air to shoot at passing flocks. i stand corrected :notworthy: they do say you learn something new everyday No so sure that I had you in mind, but whatever floats yer boat... You don't shoot passing flocks, you stalk the birds on the water, when in range, you aim the gun above the birds, bang the paddle on the side of the

And a muzzle-loading 3 bore. Note the Army greatcoat and leather pilots flying helmet.

Pics taken in the 1940's of local wildfowlers, note the lack of cammo gear. A 1 1/4" punt gun.

There appears to be a lot of confusion and BS on this thread as to what a punt gun is and what it does. Sporting shooter's post is the most factual. For starters, although there were a few 4 bore punt guns, a 4 bore is generally a shoulder gun firing 4 oz of shot, and no, it does not hurt to shoot, mine weighs 12 lbs, so it soaks up the recoil. Punt guns are limited to 1 3/4" bore size under the protection of birds acts. Depending upon where you live, they are either known by the bore size, i.e. a 1 1/2" gun or the weight of shot loaded, i.e. a 1 1/2 lb gun. The largest sporting cartri

LOL at above. I would say if you're honest to yourself then everything else falls into place. Too many principles are too difficult to live by and someone will end up nailing you to the cross on one. Dave Cynical, but true.

YES YOU CAN SHOOT CANADA GEESE NOW UNDER 'GENERAL LICIENCE' BUT SHOW RESTRAINT AND WAIT TILL THE 1'ST SEPTEMBER . Methinks not, under the General licence you can only kill Canada geese out of season to protect crops, what crops are you protecting at this time of year? The Canada goose was first added to three general licences in England by DEFRA on 1st March 2005 as provided for by the Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981. As of 1st January 2008 Natural England is responsible for the issuing of these licences for the following purposes only; to prevent serious damage to livestock,

It may just be the hot weather, as long as he is drinking plenty of water, I would not worry for a few days. My cocker frequently misses a day or two from food in the weather that we are having at the moment.

Ticks on a hound
bobndog replied to anagallis_arvensis's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
The wire loops work well also. As for where your dog got them, anywhere that there are deer or sheep in my experience. I have shot a roe with around 20 on it's underside in the past. You should be aware that they can also get on you and cause Lymes disease which can be serious, see; http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Lyme-Disease.htm -
unusual tracks in my river
bobndog replied to swanseajack's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
It's not an otter, otters have 5 front toes not 4. Something to give an indication of size would be useful, claw narks are visible, which rules out the cat family, pads are too close for mink, my money is on a dog -
It's not likely to be the pellet, any shaped piece of lead hitting a rabbits head at 20 yards with 12 ft/lbs will kill it. Check your zero at the range that you were shooting. Wind is another factor that will push pellets off course by a surprising amount. Impossible to be specific without being there, but my guess is that the scope settings have moved, usually due to a knock. It pays to check your zero every time that you go out, saves the frustration of nights such as this one!
