  1. I have used a mates 25/06 and liked it. Bullet weights are a bit close though at 90grn to 130grn and the same rifle won’t shoot them at either end of the scale. It will either shoot the lower weights well or the upper weights well but not both.
  2. Why not 30/06 , bullets range from 110grn to 220grn.
  3. I heard things were getting difficult to find so I thought I would stock up on the stuff I use.?
  4. I have been doing a bit of lamb patrol for the chap we get ducks from for the shoot. These are the the latest two to “cop it”. First one only had one eye and was 14lb the second was in good condition and was 16lb.
  5. Right then, time to start turning the wick up on the 243. Just had these delivered today so I will start knocking a few experimental loads up next week.
  6. I have never liked the taste of them but i know a few folk that do.
  7. The land owner where we shot the fox asked if i could do something about the hordes of canada geese that are flying into his fields everyday. They are trampling the grass, eating it and defacating everywhere. Anyhow i thought i would go this morning and take the mouse gun. Driving within range then shooting off the drivers mirror is the order of the day because they are used to vehicles. If you stop and get out they lift straight away. I will be back in a few days. Ther are plenty of Fallow about as well.
  8. My grandson kept asking for us to go foxing while he is off school so i decided to take him on Wednesday night. I knew there was a fox knocking about at one particular farm that i go to, so we went there. It didn't take long to spot it mooching along a double hedge . It was perhaps a couple of hundred yards away but cattle kept walking into the line of fire. I put the caller on to try to keep it in the vicinity whilst the cattle moved on. Luckily they did so just as it decided to come a little closer and sit on a big pile of hardcore which i use for zeroing. The 243 made short work of a dog fo
  9. Choice is why! luckily we still live in a country where individual choice is still allowed without being dictated to what we should or shouldn't buy.
  10. I don't care whether you agree or not, or anyone else for that matter. When you have shot several hundred foxes with a 204 come back with a valid opinion till then it would be best if you kept your ignorance to yourself.
  11. As a foxing calibre i don't think the 204 can be beaten and i have tried the chav calibre and 243. A chap i know is looking for a tikka supervarmint in 204 but is struggling. I advised him to buy a donor tikka rifle in either the chavs calibre or the old mans 222 and take it to Brock and Norris for a rebarrel to whatever spec he wants, so that is what he is doing. I have a lifetimes supply of powder and bullets so that is no problem. There are loads of lads in these parts that got rid of their chav calibres and bought 204s and use factory stuff and plenty of it so if it is still selling well i
  12. I have just been told tonight that wheat is 300 a ton now.
  13. They used to have badger hams in pubs.?
  14. Thanks very much, i will try to get some pictures.
  15. Last year i was lucky enough to breed some mules for the first time i tried. I used a red mosaic hen, the first clutch was clear but the second 4 eggs all fertile. She hatched and reared all 4 young which turned out to be 2 cocks and 2 hens. They where hatched late, it was the 31st August but they grew well and have made nice birds. I have put the same pair back together this time. The question i have is, will the cock breed or be fertile whilst still showing black on his beak?
  16. Brian was a good man, another old sportsman gone. R.I.P Brian.
  17. If i don't like it, it won't be here ten months never mind years.?
  18. I don’t know that I was wrong yet. I haven’t had it long enough to decide one way or the other yet.
  19. FFS! I come on here to be cheered up and everyone is griping about falling to bits.?
  20. Good shooting! neck shot as it should be.?
  21. Everywhere I go they use chicken shit and slurry, are you saying that they shouldn’t have been doing that?
  22. If it wasn't, it would be down to Brexit, anything but profiteering greedy twats!
