  1. good on ya Waldorf..... we let loads of the CWD go years ago as long as they were not hurt. and a few muntys too.... thats a fair buck. maybe someone , someday will do the definitive book on taking deer with lurchers,
  2. its not a night time issue now. its during day. when i work nightshift i have to work in daytime and thats when he starts. also when im at work i bet he is howling all day. i have tried leaving him food, bones, deerlegs, fresh venision, and the nut-case just isnt interested. the worst part is that i realy like the dog...... and his training is coming along well....im not going to drug him as i dont like stuff like that, certainly not over a period oif time. we wil just have to see what happens
  3. When big fallow/reds are talked about the dog has got to have a "catch as can" hold just to try and slow the deer down (unless it bounced off a fence). people talk about it like its a walk in the park. killing the huge, powerful, heavy critters aint that easy. not for one dog. not easy for two sometimes either! i would like to see the dog that can "Throat" a red or mature fallow buck without slowing it down first. i have run english reds and they are huge, fast, heavy. the stag ran off with my 70lb dog like it wasnt even there.
  4. yes matey, its working. i can tell by the light that comes on and the raised pitch of his howls!! still dont stop him though
  5. eerrrmmm...well, i was saving that space for you.....
  6. change your vet matey. leave him to heal. it will heal up ok as it looks only one side. by next season he will be as right as rain...
  7. great minds think alike....lol....... i ahve done everything you guys mention. anti-bark collar, cold water treatment, radio, toy, other dog, inside kennel, outside kennel, heatlamp, fresh meat hung up, bowl milk, fresh deer skin etc for him to rag, walking him a good long way so he tired....... when im out with him he is a perfect dog.....but once in the kennel he is the devil himself....
  8. so....anyone got any good ideas for curing noisy pups. i dont mean the odd yap,. i mean whine, whine whine, yodel, yodel, bark bark..... i have tried everything and am at wits end... not had proper sleep for 3 days, and i bet my poor neighbours are not too happy either!!!!!!...so any ideas....
  9. great pic lads..... theres a right set of rogues on there!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. they look like fallow to me matey......
  11. Sorry to hear it Ian. That long legged hound was a lovelly dog. I can remember when we was lammping next to the Motorway and he ran his quarry out of the beam and we spent ages looking for him, only be be greatly relieved to see him trotting back, some twenty minutes later, as if to say " Whats the problem?" lol.... sonny RIP.
  12. Hi, can you give more details of the area in which the dog was stolen. Hope you hear some positive news
  13. personally i would not specicfy what quarry you were to shoot. Leave your ticket as open as possible and they cannot refuse you "because" you havent the DSC1. that is not compulsory. it is simply a money making scheme for the BDS IMHO> good luck.
  14. What i have always thought about is......cape hunting dog X greyhound...... i bet would be some tool...
  15. LOL....... ..... i know i shouldnt compare dogs, but its hard not to.... ... i will measure him when i get chance...
  16. Had a good walk and training session with col today. He is still noisy in the kennel and i have tried many different things, all have failed. Still i live in hope that he quietens down. Took a few piccys today : #1... I use a cube of luncheon meat as a small yet tasty snack for colins training. Here he sits and waits for his treat. If he tries to double guess me i dont give him anything. I always vary the routine and recall to hopefully avoid the pup thinking too far ahead. Nothing worse than a smart arse....and this goes for pups too. #2 Here i am trying to get col to "
  17. im going to call my next bitch "Brenda" i think its a well cool name. if you want to call it somehting different why not call it Sue or Clair or Cash or Joan.??
