  1. had two ferals sat next to each other with the old . my mate shot 2 jays too . i have fired into a squirrels drey and had 2 squirrels out of it, one had to be given a second shot though. had 2 sparrows when they were legal quarry.
  2. having a clean out today and came across this item..... it was my dads, the leather had perished but i epoxied it onto another collar. i dug a few with this, and it was far better than the single cap ones!!!!!
  3. personally i would have thought the record would have been above that number...
  4. spent many a happy hour shooting rats with my uncles. it was always bloody jamming at the bolt. remember shooting a rat in the head and it was still going strong! Great fun while it lasted, then the spoil-sport farmer decided to tidy his farm up. i mean , how inconsiderate! lol.... i once tried to shoot a rabbit on the lamp with it, i got about 8 yards away, shot, hit and watched the bunny high-tail it back to the hedgerow with, probably, nothing worse than a perforated ear drum!!! great fun, and if i had loads of ratting then i would certainly buy it...
  5. Great story. brilliant. lets have a few more poaching tales. As long as its from days gone by then i think we can all learn and reflect upon them . We all know we must stick to the letter of the law, but its good to read about times gone by....
  6. There is a very big difference between those that have run them and those that are theorising about running them. The only true way is to give it a go and see. For a single dog to take a stag you need a whole lot of luck, for unless that deer trips/falls/gets stuck in a fence/ditch you aint going to be taking one home.....JMHO
  7. set of pricks....... just cos i have above average good looks and you lot are ugly gimps.....
  8. I find the leather can on occasion save the dog a bit of damage, do you think Strongstuff collars would do the same?......I am using Bellman & Flint saddle leather collars at the mo and they are the bollocks.......bit more expensive but worth every penny......but alas, leather dont last forever. By the way, I am talking lurcher collars here Opinions please i bought the most expensive that B+F had but after only one season the D ring was loose on both lurcher and terrier collars. I always try to buy the best for my dogs no matter what the cost, but this time the most expensive isnt t
  9. i whole heartedly recommend his gear. its superb. i also get my leads off him too and they are of the same standard. to be honest i used to be a devotee of the expensive english leather collars, but they were not lasting me much more than a season. so now i use SS and they are bang on. Also, for anyone wishing to remove any blood etc that may be present within the collar, just pop it in a sock and in the washing machine. comes out so clean not even "Forensic files" would find anything on it!!!
  10. yes but i know chief likes ovine as much as vulpine.
  11. thank you very much for your kind words sir. There will be another one soon and this next one will certainly be better than the last, but thats all i can say for now as i want it to remain a surprise until people open it up and see. Possibly the best working terrier photographs ever.... possibly... lol.... Just reading Dig Deep for the umpteenth time ( struggling getting to sleep ). It is a good read, when you do the next book, how can we, the Hunting life faithful ensure we get a signed copy  buy from me and you will get it signed. theres plenty more to come
  12. does anyone know where to get the packets of seasoning from. my mates bring me jerky back from the states and it lovelly. i once had kangaroo jerky and that was super too.
  13. nice......must be good to have the ability to make something useful.
  14. the reds i have run in the daytime, a dog like that would not be able to get up to them. i thought they were going to be very slow and run like cows. boy was i in for a shock. the dog was slipped and he flew towards them, but they just got faster and faster, cleared a 5 bar gate without touching it, hit the road once and cleared the other side, with the dog still there. he didnt make contact until the very end of the next field. their stride is very misleading, they are big animals. these were english reds too so they were big boys, too big really and, with hindsight (no pun intended) i shou
  15. you set of nasty ba##ards!!! personally i was thinkoing of giving him an open cheque to illustrate my next book with those superb pencil drawings that can only be described as "unique".
  16. good spot matey . seems rather early for them . i presume they are passing through onto breeding grounds further away.
