  1. Nope...I had a bad time of it...but i went and I did it but I got my arse spanked when the dog i had (R.I.P) jacked. But...you know, at least I'm honest about the dog being not good enough and, best of all, at least i went out and ran my dog on the two largest species in the daytime on the open ground. I tried. i failed. that's about the truth of the matter. No big secret, i've wrote about it before. It was the adventure...that what it;'s all about....the adventure is everything......but, that's only one man's opinion....
  2. Lurcher 1 No...what a very, very silly question....i won't even answer that one.... Hunting, for me, is not about the kill, it is about the hunt, the adventure, the thrill and the challenge. Exploring new places all over the Uk,hunting new land, testing the dog. But, hey, that's just me, we can't all be the same..... All historical anyway....
  3. maybe not...........but they still taste the same.......... yes, but who's doing it for the meat????? if you are then sell the dogs and buy a bullet rifle...
  4. Here's the thing.....deer can't (couldn't) be judged under the beam of artificial light in order to really judge them they need to be run during the daytime over a period of time....a daytime deer is a totally different animal to a lamped deer.... Just how many lads are keen enough to travel and test their dogs on the daytime stuff? well, that's the thing. Daytime, one on one, then you get a 'feel' for the whole thing.....i've heard lots of lads boasting that their dog has stopped a couple of roe or a few chinks under the beam, but when daytime comes they don't seem to want to know.... you
  5. All the questions of 'can it be done'...should be re-worded as 'can it be done regularlly'. Everything can be done, but a one off is a one off and means sweet FA....consistancy is the thing, ...i always reckoned...
  6. Shut up yank I love it when a plan comes together. HAHA! And how bout them sazuki crosses? How many of them have really ever taken a real deer. I dont believe it for a minute to be honest. They skeert of a good Roe I bet ya. Hey Dan bring those treble- and double-uppers of yours over and find out ........
  7. Not quite true It can be out of season but you can legally shoot it under licence such as directed by the SNH so your action would be legal Under the license it would be lawful to shoot the deer, but take away that License and it would be UNLAWFUL to shoot a LEGAL quarry. So would it be legal for me to shoot a Red Stag with my 223,as it state's any legal quarry,? Then you're falling foul of the other law with regards calibres.....same as you cannot shoot deer out of season even thought they are still on the quarry list.

  9. Maybe it is this definition: All deer species are LEGAL quarry, but they are only LAWFUL when in season.
  10. i would suggest that it all depends on the ammo you intend to use in the gun at that particular time. A 9mm is on the SGC but if a 6mm is to be firing bullets it would be FAC IMO.
  11. I'm going to get this buck measured, anyone think it might make a bronze?? I wish the pearling had have been thicker...
  12. I hate to see anything knocked over on the road..but was wounded when I saw this fellow yesterday, he'd survived all winter and ended up an RTA......Gutting.

  14. Life's a funny old thing, family dynamics was never my strong point but one thing that I'm sure of is that "it skips a generation".
  15. Twice I'll be Tomo..our Jamies woman is expecting too lol...good luck to them I've got fecking plenty :-) Longest and deepest pockets though...he's a tight f*cker! Still waiting for a breakfast that he's owed me for 3 years...
  16. He's trying to type a reply but he's struggling without his highchair.....
  17. Fuji, glad you chose a photo that doesn't show Razor's mange.... he is looking a bit scratty in the hair department, just like his owner...
  18. If you plan on making a culvert, if there's rabbits about you need to put a solid base down such as flags. If there's only foxes in the area they can be bedded straight into the earth and they'll work just fine.
  19. Hi, I would sharpen them up on PS, the horse one isn't in proper focus. I know that it's always a battle with the light when out with the hounds, but if you could tweek the shutter speed up a tad on the fox photos you'd end up with a crisp for and a blurred background. That's if you are looking for constructive critisism......JD
