  1. Thanks mate, that real nice thought.i know lot people on here, and over the years I've met quite lads off here. But suppose where I am 15 mile from Hereford, don't really think many up this way. So just trying to get on with things best I can.i was hoping to move back to South staffs where I from, got bungalow up for sale , but gone very quite, so think be here till next summer 2025. I walked I hour today, that's good with fooked knee , on this surface as you feel it in your knee but was nice dry walk.
  2. Not to good mate, got fooked right knee I down next year for keyhole surgery, he said wouldn't need full replacement till my late 70s.well this was said 3rd Sept , well on the 12th my knee locked for 2 weeks got free now, but aches down the one side, and get shooting pain there.so it going to be.long painful wait till next year, I hoping the knee might have settled bit by then, and be better for when have that keyhole surgery. It been really rough on me was murder walking Buck and little woody with bad knee, God knows how got through then 2 weeks. It times like this that I miss m
  3. Good one young man haha.if I was you , don't know where you live , but I have drive about, OK you have to jump over the fence as they say. That's what we did back then just drive about in the day, get the laybof few places. Go back lamp it , if lot rabbits, maybe knock tha farmers if you want use the stinkers, don't take the lurcher just you stickers, once farmer trust you maybe at later date talk sboutvthe dog. But what found over years. You can get on few places but a lurcher a no no, some will lot wont but for me really lamping was my game, and jumping over the fenc
  4. I won't watch the shirt lifter no way.i tell what, deep down his family must be embarrassed by him. His poor wife, kids, he should stay on that 🏝 and rot there.
  5. That's OK mate ,as long as you don't get blank, and get 1/2 dozen your happy dogs happy.i tell you what though, I might pay you do take her to different ground, where it more open ground, with longer slip. Don't do daft long slips walk up close get the dog close, I found once you lot catches like that, drop back bit give longer slip, in the dogs mind he think catch any and that what you want.i was told 35 years ago, always put the dog back in the kennel at night a winner, and tried to do that with all lurchers over the years as lamping dogs.
  6. True, yeh give few runs, let them get the tongue back in, just keep eye on the dog if drop on lot rabbits in field, just pace your self , the bottom line there not fookin machines, there skin/bone. If you want massive bag get a gun. Both my 1xs had good stamina and pace, old Bryn knock 30 over but at 25 I knew was not far away Buck had better stamina, he knock 40 if really pushed him, and was not bred for rabbits, makes it more impressive in my mind, fox /deer hecwas bred for. But we knock few rabbits over keep him fit.
  7. Brill that, pity you didn't vid it or pic. Been great. You are right though, some dogs just enjoy water.bryn and old Buck were both the same , I used to think really, that with Buck it was from copeing Bryn, that why he didn't like water as well, both were frckin wimps in water.but as said on here, the only time seen Buck really go in deep water was chasing a fox, he went right in , if he was on something and thought he catch it he was well up for it, must forgot about the water lol.
  8. Maybe not in Aj case, but money will talk , and DD I take the fight. As be very confident of winning it. I do think that. Even though not a Aj fan no more, he should really think about hanging up his gloves now, he starting to take few shots to head, that dropping him on the deck.if not careful he could end up like Ali, and have brain damage permanent.

  10. Good point that, just going on old Buck litter he came from.thats the 24in gsd bitch, to 28in razzmatazz greyhound. The bitches made 25-26 strong racy build, the dogs made 26 -29in, Buck was 28in. Now all the litter catch rabbits no prob Buck best bag 38 up the dales, and plenty of 20s in harder places get up to foxes, deer no prob.what you got remember is they have long stride, and good pace, and run all night long, great stamina they cover ground quick deff. Yes they don't look like you of the mill normal type lurcher, but don't be fooled by that.as lamping dog hecwas brill for near 8
  11. Bloody he'll, it love lamping done it 35 years but fookin he'll, it can be real dangerous sport, had few dead or bust up bad doing it..what you going going to do, what the vet said, if permanent injury , might let go to pet home.?
  12. Haha like the crocodile bit, a fookin pit x grey just jump in , and who said ridgeback thick. Lol
  13. Now that's very interesting point, yeh Spain, etc warmer countries true.but being honest might lurcher work back then been lamping, and what Buck caught apart from few rabbits, ir foxes, bigger things he be in the water with them lol
  14. Thanks mate good info, if I ever get another pup, I might do that.
  15. Good pics , how old were they when you got them in the water.like say my last to and the old one go in up to there chest, but wouldn't swim, try them as pups etc, but just wouldn't have it. The closed I got , one day Buck my 1x gsd xgrey , knocked a fox out of cover. Fox ran the other side deep stream, going up the bank, he jumped in swam lit bit, then gotbup the bank after fox, it got away, so thought we'll he swim then, but he still don't like water never changed in 12 years, maybe it me doing something wrong to start them ?
  16. Where that post with that black lurcher jumping into the river think getting a stick? Just wanted to know how he got to do that? As lurchers I've had with lot sighthound on the mix. Never liked water go up to there chest, but that's it no deeper lol
  17. Well, if you want smaller type lurcher go for a grew= whippetx greyhound, but if more for deer/fox work, maybe gsdxgrey, or bullxgreyx gsd xgrey. I'was talking to bloke used work gsdx whippet x grey, great on rabbits, do foxes, munjack, real good think uncle had the dog but he seen it work lots and rated it.my old 1xgsdx grey been great lamp dog in his day took what ever I wanted in lamp, killed lot stuff out the beam, new his job well, he 12 now we both old buggers together now.
  18. There great shepherd hut, some very sturdy. And quite roomy be great to see the finished job, your good dad mate, you got any.more kids.? You don't won't a old ex poacher , good at fishfinger chips peas now lol
  19. I am 45 mile away, I was born w-ton. Then moved by Hereford, 45.mile difference , but hoping to sell up here and move back to South staffs.evrn though it only 45 mile apart I my as well come from space, no fooker can understand me, with a black country accent. These fookers here, most have never moved out past Hereford.i going back to my roots eventually, no good living g here on my own since my wife died , I've got good solid friends back where I come from, so thatcehat hoping this year, or next year if still here, don't think the housing market moved much since feckin Labour
  20. Hi, folks hope your fit, getting them lurchers. Terriers ready for this season coming. Me I fooked with my locked right knee. I down next year for keyhole surgery , and knee replacement maybe few years done the line, but right I struggled to walk, it good job old Buck 12, and little woody 15 , as if younger dogs they have to go boarding kennels till was fit to walk etc. Still trying sell my place here by Hereford, want to relocate back to South staffs from where come from trying hopefully start again , since my wife died in February. Took these on Bringsty common stitting
  21. Did they ever cross to staghounds or greyhounds in Oz? A mate I know over here, had lurcher with 1/4 ridgeback in think the rest mainly think whippet x grey, this was male he had think 26, good fox dog, took few munjack deer in the woods , a useful type lurcher.
  22. Yeh mate the old ridgeback great guard dogs, but lot truth you say about ridgeback bitches as guards. A neighbour by me had 2 dog and bitch, and one day couple blokes acting suspicious outside his house, well the big 95 lb male just barked one and just stood there, the 70 lb bitch chased the back to the car , lucky not to get ripped up lol yeh bitches seem lot sharper than the males.
  23. True mate and your right , be intreasting what they use now I'm Africa regards as working hound over there. I did read that the good stuff. That's ridgeback, boerbol , they keep them selves , it only there jumping on the bandwagon selling those breeds pups to the UK, America, etc but this deff very strong possibility, that they keep well bred apbts over there, and tested on the box. They could do what been done over here in UK using bulldogs x sighthounds with good results as we all know. You never know mate, they may have been doing this for years .??
