  1. One suggestion. Reload You'd have the money back within one session!
  2. Feral pigeons are the only exception to birds being shot at night with a lamp. Others not so.
  3. I use a new model Browning T-Bolt with a 16" carbine barrel and wooden stock. Very smooth gun to shoot, very fast to reload and as accurate as anything else on the market. I think I paid £475 for it.
  4. Good morning to finish off Wag She is a Big Breasted Woman bird!
  5. Shame I'm so far away would have gladly given you a hand Dek I'm sure someone with a suitable weapon will be nearby
  6. Just read the whole thread from back to front and it appears to be a hugely grey area as with almost all firearms law. I think the OP deserves some clarification or he'll be back to square one. Would everyone agree with the following? 1. So long as the gun is currently under 12ft/lbs and is not easily capable of being turned up and down then that is safe to own as every air weapon has that potential, 2. Its worth speaking to your firearms licensing department for some advice as to where they stand on the issue, 3. One final point from me, a weapon can be taken on and off a
  7. Good work both and I love that first picture too! Its one for a frame perhaps that one. The twentieth will be here before you know it.
  8. The only way to check would be for the firearms licensing department to run it through their "National Firearms Licensing System" which keeps a record of the history of all firearms that have ever been registered. However, the other chap may get in some bother if what you say is true about it being unlawful to hold the gun if it has ever been FAC rated. Personally, I can't see why you would need an FAC if the rifle was now permanently set at under 12 ft/lbs but thats not to say the Firearms Laws in the UK are as clear as mud!
  9. Well I try but always good to have other's share their experiences I don't think there's a wrong answer really though
  10. Difficult one. Personally, I'd send a letter to the licensing department explaining the facts of why you want it opened before its first renewal making sure you write it in as much detail as possible. They rang me when I requested mine a few years back and said its been approved and send my certificate in.
  11. None waiting to be seen in there now
  12. I think the original poster had had his question answered I/L As for the rest of the thread its three pages of misinformed ranting which really isn't required. Hedz, whatever time you spend on here, you read which threads you select and post in those you have an interest in. You do NOT see all the threads which are deleted of which there are quite a number every day, you also do NOT see all the members which are banned for posting idiotic photographs and threads nor do you understand the new way in which the lurcher and terrier sections are going to work. Every topic posted in the "
  13. Not sure what you're referring to by "gas action" but if you want to have a shotgun on an FAC then it has be for a specific reason be that Vermin Control, Practical Shotgunning etc In any case, legally, you can't shoot wildfowl with any gun capable of firing more than three shots in succession but as for the vermin you mention I can't see a problem just state "Vermin Control" as the reason. Clays I can see as more of a problem. As with any Section 1 firearm you have to use it in conjunction with the conditions on your certificate which means that you can't just decide to take it
  14. Audi A3 S Line Black Edition Quattro, chipped and mapped from 170 to around 220bhp Just after I bought it.
  15. Yes it will have been shot with Lead. Yes it may have Lead shot still in it. No it wont harm you.
  16. You're making it sound as though you've got something to worry about about... As I said, if you've done nothing wrong then don't worry. It is quite a common occurrence for FEOs to visit certificate holders during the course of their license and they will usually ring you before hand as they have done here.
  17. If you've nothing to hide then you've nothing to worry about.
  18. No harm in trying all three Martyn. They can only say no for whatever reason but if you have a Good Reason for wanting the rifle and paying to stalk is as good a reason as having permission to shoot them for nothing, then you have to question why they have refused you. Put them all down and book a days stalking in the mean time. Print the receipt or confirmation off and then show it to the Enquiry Officer when he comes to visit. SS
  19. I've reloaded for a few years now. I had the same thoughts going around my head when I started. After considered opinion, I avoided Lee and went for a set up that someone I know as a trusted reloader also has. I went for a Redding press with accompanying dies and I haven't had cause to complain about them yet. Only thing I'd say is buy a decent scales as weighing out every shell can be tedious when the scales aren't accurate and responsive.
  20. I find an auto tends to be the equivalent of adding an extra 2 inches on the barrels because of its overall length i.e. a 30" auto to me feels as long as a 32" O/U. I shoot a 26" auto and it makes no difference whatsoever having two less inches. It would be the same as saying a 28" S/S has different killing power compared to a 30" O/U. As said above, shorter autos are much easier to swing in a hide.
  21. At a resent auction a box of Eley gas tight cartridges sold for the grand sum of £7. I shot a box of paper case Grand Prix made by Eley Kynoch on our boxing day shoot. You might get a couple of quid from a collector who is looking to make a board. (Just make sure that if you are going to shoot with the cartridges that it's not black powder ) John Nothing wrong with a bit of smoke
  22. To me the top picture looks like its a pinfire cartridge...which are considerably rarer than centrefire.
  23. There's only one place this thread is going and thats round and round in circles.
