thanxs for that mate! so i will have to take the trigger and the works of the gun off the wooded stock first? Yep, you need to keep hold of the metal parts. What sort of gun is it? Most modern guns on have one long bolt through the stock which is fairly easy to remove.
-
Chez, So long as its just the wooden part then he's fine. After all, its just a piece of wood cut into a certain shape. Providing you have the "guts" of the gun i.e. action, barrel etc and have a valid license, all your dad has to say is that he's working on the stock for you. They can search the car to their hearts content if they so wish but not as though they will find anything else gun related. SS

Back of my mind is telling me that No.7 shot will travel 208 metres before hitting the ground if fired horizontally but as Millet says, it will have no energy at all Best to keep the shots will above the horizon though

Well I can see them taking a fancy to the Peas when they are seeds and they like to strut around in wheat/barley fields. Never known them cause massive damage to either, Pigeons maybe. How many Pheasants are we talking?

Could always attract them somewhere else with a feeder or two scattered about the place. What crops are they "smashing"?

Applying for f.a.c and epilepsy?
SportingShooter replied to revij22's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
With a track record like that, I would be erring on the side of them granting you an FAC but as Matt says its down to them ultimately. There are people out there with far worse either on record or on their medical charts than someone who hasn't had an epileptic fit for 22 years. -
I might make an offer to the local coastguard, "I'll find him for $3000, but i'll catch him and kill him for £10,000"

A brave man. Thoughts with his family, friends and colleagues

The Greener was designed in a time when the thought of using anything but lead hadn't been even considered. It would make a brilliant fowling gun if you're prepared to use Bismuth and Tungsten on the foreshore and then Lead for Pigeons. Depends how many shots on the foreshore you can afford

correct as usual http://www.midlandgu...KES_2_pages.pdf I only know because its the ground I tend to visit. Good friendly set-up there. Probably go next week if it stops raining. Leepie, Jonathon does his best in fairness, sure he'll find you some chokes even if the Lincoln's don't fit.

Try Mid Wales Shooting Centre

I'd agree with the above. No harm in removing anything that might be of worth to your friend before it is scrapped but any damage to those vital areas is asking for trouble. The stock might make a nice knife handle sometime...
-
As a general rule, large shot i.e AAA, BB, 1,2,3 and as much of it as the gun will handle. As for chokes, my own personal research told me that full choke is almost always worse than using either 1/2 or 3/4 because it tends to blow the pattern with the heavier loads. Keep the range to a maximum of about 35/40 yards.

firearms licence help needed
SportingShooter replied to marky2222's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
The key as Scarecrow says is "access" For you to keep them in the same cabinet as your friend, you would need exactly the same calibres on your ticket as his and both sets of guns would need to be on both your FACs as shared rifles. However, if you installed a new cabinet in his house which you and only you have access to, then you may get away with it. -
Yep, .204 will be fine for all those things.
-
It's down to individual force policy Paulus. It's good in some ways that a complete newbie to firearms has someone to show them the ropes but if someone hasn't got one, then I don't believe someone should be refused an FAC because they don't know any other shooters!
-
Who was that with, out of curiosity? No good for the likes of you, I don't think they class car theft as part time trading... Oi! I'll have you know the policy says "in connection with the motor trade" doesn't mention how I come about being in possession of the motor in the first place And "Third Party, Fire and Theft" is just a challenge! Who was that with, out of curiosity? insurance factory tradewise Thanks

If you have "good reason" for the centrefire, which Fox is one, then there's no reason you can't put it down on your application. It doesn't matter if you shoot one Fox in the five years you have your FAC. The rifle is for Foxes and if you happen to only shoot one then so be it. As for .204/223/222 etc well really it does come down to personal preference. Factory ammunition in .204 you're looking at £25 for 20 or something around that figure and somewhere in the region of £1 a round for premium .223 ammunition too. However, there is a much greater selection of ammunition out there f

Folks, There seems to be an increase in the amount of threads asking for help when it comes to applying for Shotgun/Firearm Certificates and any variations or renewal problems that crop up along with other general advice. By means of putting them all in one place, I will list the most recent questions and scenarios below and provide a link to the original topic, When new questions pop up, I'll add them to the list.
