  1. It should read "Section 1 and Section 2" firearms really. Section 2 is suitable for anything held on a shotgun certificate. Section 1 is anything that is held on a firearms certificate. They relate to the sections of the Firearms Act 1968
  2. It depends on quite a few different things. The type of ground you're shooting over, how well you know it and whether there is anything you can use for markers i.e. trees, rocks, styles, gateposts etc Its really something which comes with experience but one of the best ways is to walk the land in daylight and try and take note of anything that will help you in the dark. If you're having difficulty getting them under 100 yards or so then maybe its time to be thinking of a centrefire.
  3. I do indeed Paulus Personally, I find them a very good all round rifle. The build quality is what you'd expect from Browning, solid action, well blued barrel and a decent wood stock. I have the 16" carbine version which is about right for a .22LR but that obviously extends with a moderator. The T-Bolt action is fast compared to a normal bolt as you only need to pull straight back and forth, no need to lift the bolt. The magazine holds 10 with a good positive feed. Haven't had a jam yet that wasn't my fault. One thing I particularly like about it is the weight, its a ligh
  4. Can you add a rough estimate of price please
  5. .222, .223, .22-250 all perfectly acceptable Foxing rounds I shoot the .222 and it just loves being accurate.
  6. Reputation as a barrel burner I suppose. Other than that, ammunition isn't going to be very varied, better to hand load. It would equal very dead Foxes with a fast ballistic tipped round.
  7. The advice that i've read a few times with regards spare keys which seems to make sense is to write instructions as to where they are, put that letter in an envelope and give it either to your solicitor or keep it with say original deeds to a house in the bank. My spare keys are just hidden, no need for anyone to know where they are. I struggle to remember myself sometimes!
  8. I have two Hammer guns that I use now and again. Both 12's and they tend to only come out around either Christmas or the end of the season. I tend to shoot much the same walk and shoot but they are slower to reload if you have a steady flush of birds. They are good fun to shoot in my opinion, as you say something different and for me, the feel of cocking the hammers, pulling on a bird, the visible thwack on the firing pin followed by a shot is just an all round good experience. I also tend to confuse quite a few of my fellow guns by shooting Black Powder in the hammers so first sh
  9. Don't quote me on this figure...but I seem to recall a series of tests being conducted a few years back and your usual No.7 1/2 clay shot in a "normal" velocity shell of say 1350fps will travel 207 yards when fired horizontally. I can't be exact of the figure, but it was 200 and something yards, almost certain 207. As stated, shot should not fall from the land you are shooting onto land where you have no permission.
  10. yeah and a little technical! thanks for your help I wouldn't take too much notice of the recommendations on that article The technical stuff is fine but I certainly wouldn't choose No.2 Steel shot to shoot a Pheasant which is what is suggested on there...unless I wanted a curry-ready bird with chunks missing. pheasant culinder

  12. I'm getting very tired of reading a load of pointless arguing every time I log on to this particular forum. I'll give everyone an ultimatum. The next thread that is spoiled by unhealthy debate and blatant arguing, those causing it will lose their posting ability on this forum and the rest of the board. Civility is all I will accept in here. I've no issue with disagreement or debate but unless that is the case, either don't post or consider your accounts pretty much useless for a while.
  13. Yes it is legal so long as the following is complied with to the best of my knowledge, The shot takes place more than 50ft away from the centre of any highway or if it is closer than 50ft must not endanger or interfere with anyone using that highway, The shot must land on the same ground that you have permission to shoot on. Are there other properties nearby? Are the neighbours approachable? I personally would resort to traps in that situation if there are houses and things nearby.
  14. Not English and Welsh but a Welsh comedian and one of my favourite funny songs
  15. Apparently Sloanes in Inverurie and "We're Game" in Kirkaldy from Google that is
  16. £22 for .222 Hornady 50gr V-Max when I looked in a shop yesterday. Thats what I shot before reloading.
  17. Excellent, thanks for those. Had a read through them I spent the other night on YouTube seeing how easy they are to live with, might go for it
  18. I think the best bit of advice on the thread so far is what does your closest ammunition stockist have in the store regularly That will be the deciding factor, it was for me when I started but I reload now anyway. My personal opinion being that in the hilly fields in say Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion where I shoot sometimes, a .223 is more than enough gun with plenty of ammunition around and doesn't cost as much as the .22-250.
  19. I think this thread has gone far enough in proclaiming to the Nth degree that Hares have some strange place in the quarry list, on a pedestal to some and yet to others cause more problems than any other.
  20. All, Is there anyone out there that currently shoots this round and maybe even reloads for it? I know its an obsolete calibre in legal terms but I'm considering trying to find a rifle and loading for it just for target shooting fun. Any info would be appreciated SS
  21. Yes sort of, its the home of West Wales Muzzle Loaders and Rifle Association its actually in llandyfan nearest village is ttrap I've been there a few times as a guest, decent bunch of blokes. Yea I think I know the one, I know the village anyway. Is it in a quarry? If I remember correctly.
  22. Its no harder to clean than a bolt action The bolt slides right out and you just clean as normal
