  1. Talk about a can of worms Chris For Game/Rough I prefer a S/S. For Clays I prefer and O/U For Wildfowl/Decoying I like my Semi-Auto.
  2. Plus most traders policies are for just that, connection with the motor trade, not SDP&B.
  3. Compo, I'll have a look a bit later on and see which threads I can combine and pin as a sort of guidance thread.
  4. When you say cautions do you mean verbal warnings or actual cautions in a police station? There are quite a few SGC/FAC holders out there with drink driving convictions and cautions. Usually the cautions cause more concern because accepting one is an admission of guilt and they can be issued for anything from assault to theft. Declare everything, no matter what it is and go from there.
  5. my old mom was born in Oswestry, and she always said she was welsh . But i didnt think it was , as it only on the border aint it . Am i right or was my mom right . nice place though Oswestry Well I'm sure Oswestry was part of Wales at some point. The amount of Welsh place names over the border says it all. Just a stones throw away from us in Oswestry anyway I concur with Mal, she knew a good thing to shout about
  6. No reason why you can't apply for and should be granted a .243 on first application. If you have the land and if pressed, a mentor for it, there's no reason to refuse you. Ammunition wise. For field work, the amounts you mention are quite reasonable but they differ from force to force. Anything up to about 1000 for a rimfire is fairly reasonable and 200/300 for centrefire.
  7. Depends what sort of workload the office has in the two forces really. You need to notify them "without undue delay" of moving the firearms to the new address in any case
  8. The recoil on an auto is drastically reduced by the gas operated action. However, the largest loads will still send out significant felt recoil. Depending on how bad the split in the forend is, it may split again, it may not. Its a wait and see situation unless you can take it to a reputable gunsmith. The two symmetrical holes in the barrel are the gas ports where gas escapes behind the shot and cycles the action. Nothing to worry about there.
  9. The old which shot size debate is one that has raged on in the pub after a shoot day and on these forums for years and at the end of it all, its down to your preference, performance and budget. I stick to a Number 7 28g load for almost everything feathered apart from wildfowl and I prefer a good quality clay load with hard shot and slightly faster. I do tend to shoot with slightly tighter chokes than most but then that's what I'm used to. Pigeons for decoying a No.6 or 7 in 28, 30 or 32gr will be fine. There will be some deals out there somewhere but if you can club together with som
  10. I've picked up a bunny with a patchy stomach before but never with fur in its mouth
  11. Yea I registered on the forum and have had a good browse around. Massive amount of information on there! Insurance is nuisance, I hate doing the online forms. Far easier to speak to someone to try and get it as low as possible. I'll let you know
  12. Someone else mentioned the timing chain/belt thing. Best look for a 2.8 then. Plenty around on evil bay and autotrader.
  13. Seems to be a good all round consensus they are pretty much bomb proof... I've seen a few i'm seriously considering.
  14. There seems to be an all round opinion they are pretty much bombproof. I saw one yesterday with renewed head gasket and has been winter protected under neath. Actively looking for one now
  15. There's no requirement for it to be BS approved. So long as it is separated from the cabinet the firearms are held in (other than lock top models) and is bolted to a solid wall then you shouldn't have a problem. My first ammo safe was from ScrewFix. Bolted to the wall in a different location and was passed with no issues.
  16. Just been looking at one which is in good nick with a winter conditions chassis, sprayed with some protection compound. Luckily the shoot is just over a mile away from home so quite lucky. Food for thought!
  17. Thats good to know Hedz. I'm not too worried about the juice consumption because I wont be using it as my main vehicle. Just for pottering about the shoot and carting stuff about. The reliability of them seems to be good across the board.
  18. What do we think of these vehicles folks? I've been looking at the old ones, 1996/1997 with the 2.8 TDi. I'm guessing a couple of people on here have one, just wondering what they're like as a general 4x4 not a hardcore laning beast. Thanks SS
  19. Ah that makes sense. I wondered what the actual term was.
  20. Sparked my curiosity Matt, Territorial condition?
  21. Si, your powers of observation never fail to amaze me
  22. Obviously Jock. My catapult is an entirely suitable weapon for a 30 stone Imperial Red Stag. Just gotta get it right between the eyes.
