  1. Hi guys & gals, You remember me recently posting about my boy Liam (Blue Dragon), and how he is coming on, as well as him asking me about him hunting? Well, this morning, just before dawn, we left the house and went upto the crematorium. We settled down at my favourite sniping spot, and waited - the sheep were in the field to day, and i think this seems to calm the rabbits down a bit. Anyway, after abiout 15 minutes or so, Liam spots a bunny around 50 yards or so - too far for him i judge, and so we go on the stalk . . . . . We had been moving for some time, eyeballing our quar
  2. I saw this thread, and was going to ask the question, but decided not to. I hope everything is ok Sean ol' bud? I sent you a PM, and if you get the chance mate, maybe you can chuck one back to me? In the meantime - all the very best. Cheers mate, Grim.
  3. Hi Harry, Good shot - well done! It does happen - just not that often! lol Nice going pal. Regards, Grim.
  4. Very good and valid point there Ferret - and one i have neglected to see until you had just mentioned it - Miste all Chucking Frighty!! I have now altered my original post to take account of your observation - thank you for pointing that out pal - much appreciated. Regards, Grim.
  5. Cheers FV. To be honest, i have enjoyed looking at everyone else's perm. photos, and i had not even thought about posting my pics until yesterday - DOH! All the best, Grim.
  6. I try my best bud, and i do seem to be making a noticable dent in the rabbit population! Lol My son , also called Liam (and called Blue Dragon on here, BTW) often comes there with me (the crem Super Intendant has given him permission in his own name - lucky git he is! ) and he is enjoying it immensley. He has been doing rather well at target practice, and has very good discipline in him when it comes to shooting, i am glad to say (looks like all my hard work and experience in the Services has been put to good use there!). Thanks for your input Liam, much appreciated. All
  7. Sgt. McMuffin - Scuzy - Sharp Shooter: I thank you! Regards, Grim.
  8. Juno what? In all the time I since I became a member (don't regret the day niether ) I have overlooked the fact that I haven't posted no pictures on anything to do with my permission so far . . . .Zero . . . Zilch . . . Nowt . . . . Nuffink!! And so, without further delay - here they are folks: 1. A shot from the only gate into the field (situated within the woods) from the crem - this is a non public access gate - staff only. The fence to the left of the pic is for a Garden of Remembrance (GoR) - public access allowed to there, this was where i had a run in with a group of ant
  9. Hi mate, I live not too great a distance from Maidstone myself, and so can appreciate the area and challenges regarding hunting for land to shoot over in this area. Regarding the target shooting - try your garden if its long enough to do so, if not, then try an air rifle club local to you Lewis. Regarding the quarry hunting - I'd advise you to just get out there and look around bud, if you see them when you are passing, then introduce yourslef to the land owners and see where you get, like? If you want some forms to help you on your way - check my signature text. You can mix a
  10. It was the 5 year old girl who shot her 18 month old brother in the back of the head mate. My thoghts are with the boy, and the rest of his family at this time. It beggars belief really - that the lad is in hospital is a bad enough thing in itself, but when you also add to the mix that he is in hospital as a direct result of his father's negligence and irresponsibility . . . well, i just don't know what to say? At the very least, the father should get charged as he has committed an offence under the Firearms Act, 1997 [and subsequent ammendments] as he had abandoned the air rifle s
  11. With reference to the above highlight . . . . . . The thing i find most . . . . . haunting (if you like) is that, when you have shot a gull, it's brethren flock to the skies and fly around above the scene for about 15-20 mins and sing a 'requiem' for their fallen comrade. This is one of the most strangest moments i have witnessed, and one which i find raises the hair on my neck, like? When my workmate and i used to cull the gulls where we worked, there is a large ornate gothic style chapel nearby(now decommissioned and is now a pre-school nursery), and the gulls always conducted the re
  12. Its nice to see you are doing well bud, keep going!! Grim.

  13. A sound young gun, this lad. Start as you mean to go on bud - keep as you are and you'll be fine! Grim.

  14. Mine DID have the original AA slide on mod and grub screw jobbie. It has now got a 1/2 threaded adaptor on it for my Weihrauch mod. HTH? Regards, Grim.
  15. Seems like 'A good job well done' in my opinion . . . . . . keep it going bud! All the best, Grim.
  16. Well done CW old pal, good to see that your getting good results! Nice bit of luck with the stable/horse field too, i must add - keep going the way you are now bud, and you'll soon make a name for yourself!! 'Start as you mean to go on' i always say. . . All the best, Grim.
  17. No worries bud , thats what is good about THL IMO - helping others when and where you can, as well as receiving help yourself when you need it. Regards, Grim.
  18. You need to be careful if you let it go down to 50bar mate - the rifle will usually piss out all it's air at that pressure, and then you'll have to fill up from zero bar! lol I would suggest you let the pressure fall in use to about 110 - 120bar, and then fill upto around 180bar (yep, 180bar, not 190bar). I say 180bar because that is the top end of the 'sweet spot' for me. I count 90-100 shots, and then i refill to 180bar. I count my shots because the S310 does not have an on board pressure guage (i thank God ), Regards, Grim.
  19. Sarge, you may be new here now, but I hope you will enjoy your time in THL, and make lots of useful contacts here.

    Keep at it pal,

    Grim

  20. A spring rifle is quite good enough for taking rabbits mate, as are pcp rifles. I reckon that CO2 is a little lower on power than the springers and pcp rifles Also the accuracy tends to drop off as well - especially due to the fact that CO2 rifle performance can go up and down, depending on the temperature and altitude etc? Therefore, from a purely personal point of view, i wouldn't consider a CO2 for anything else really, except maybe the odd close bit of ratting. Hope this helps you some? Cheers, Grim
  21. Well done Davey, to you and your mate! Errm . . . . be careful with all that THWACKING mate - too much of that and you'll go blind you know! Regards, Grim.
  22. Well, you did well there, Gilly my boy! Regards, Grim.
