  1. I dont snowboard............"wanks on planks" or "gays on trays" But I do go on holiday with a snowboarder, and he walks around just fine in his boots, far better than you can in skiing boots anyway..
  2. Good Man was Ditch... THL is not the same with out him..
  3. This was made with pigs liver, but can be made with venison liver. You can try ay game or lver to be honest. It is multi purpose.
  4. I have twins at 9, they get more opportunities than most to experience field sports. We have ferrets, shotguns, rifles, air rifles and a shed which doubles as a butchery/larder. One loves it one loathes it. It is not evident, because its normal that they both want to spend time with their dad doing what dad does. Until you find one in tears because you show him how to gut a rabbit, and it happens to be pregnant. For the next 6 months you get, 'do you have to shoot the mummies and babies?' In the middle of a car journey, you get 'Dad look deer'....then 'do we have to kill them?' So just
  5. Winnies in my CZ are fine. Use them all the time, no issue. They dont suit every gun though right enough.
  6. I am an avid fan of the .243, but I use it as an allrounder.. Ie fox and deer. (Roe mainly) I cant believe I'm actually saying this, but I would advise getting a bigger rifle than a .243 if you are setting your stall out for soley larger animals. The .243 will kill large deer with good shot placement, but if it were the mainstay of quarry.. Go bigger. It doesn't cost anymore to run a .308, than a .243, That would be my choice. It that is too big for you, my next choice would 6.5 x 55mm. There is a plethora of calibres, but why go exotic when one of the mainstream calibres will do the job per
  7. Saute them with a little chopped shallot, butter and balsamic vinegar. Serve with Oatcakes or a couple of soldiers of toast.
  8. May be a bit far south, but The Engine Inn at Cark in Cartmell used to be great.. Going back a bit now like.
  9. I suggest that if you have never been ferreting that you find somone to go out with first to see if you enjoy it. Most of us will take people out that ask nicely. It is rewarding to get people in to the sport. The important thing is that you have asked for information and help before you have 'ordered you ferts' Best of luck. Matty
  10. view the pinned topic by sporting shooter at the top of the page. It will answer all you questions.
  11. I think if you go back they will still be there. Some weather conditions favour rabbits being seen, others dont. My guess is that you saw them on a windy rainy night, and you went back on a clear frosty night. Try again.. They'll be back....to coin a phrase
  12. Reasonable scopes these. Have got one on a .22 rimmie. Does the job..
  13. The only thing that puts me off the HOWA is the non-detatchable magazine. It has a floor plate, but if your foxing, in and out of the vehical, it would get on my nerves. I like to detach the mag and stick it in my pocket. Floor plate..in the dark...? I am sure it would shoot straight though, its a good price.. So if you are prepared for the non detach..thats ok.. If I had the choice..T3 Matt
  14. Not in Dundee are you chap? I am constantly falling out with my vet over fee's and competence. They have these massive plush offices, big waiting room, two receptionists.ETC. All the gear and no idea. Wont touch ferrets...literally. But from afar charged me £55 for ear mites, when i told him the the problem was. Wrongly diagnosed kidney problems in my cat at 16years old, resulted in his death.. When my wife went back 3 times to different vets to tell them they were wrong...

Wee bit here Snappy, enough to stop me running(its frozen allready) but only a covering, theres even less when you get to the bottom of my hill.
  17. Also try Nikko Sterling scopes. They do what they say on the tin and nothing more. I have a gold on my rimmie. and a diamond on my C/F they work just fine.
  18. Do you men where the case has failed to obturate(seal) effectively upon expansion at the point of firing. This can normally be identified by linear marks down the case. The case should expand uniformally to prevent gases escaping back from the chmaber to the boltface? Likewise the cartridge must flexible enough to be able to be extracted, after expantion and obturation. First thing to check ,as allready identified, is a dirty chamber preventing uniform expansion and extraction. HTH Matt
