  1. Red factor eggs all clear and she's jumped the nest anyway, thats my step back for today .The 2 steps forward are 2 redpoll chicks have fledged and i have a couple of lutino greenie eggs ,that'll do for today .
  2. Cracking Gnipper,if you can paint the wire black before the birds go in and your'll see them so much better mate and all the best with the mule eggs.Luck is half the job i'm begining to recon in this game and you wouldn't go far wrong with a pair of redpolls to start with Mikey, cracking little birds that do well in cage or aviary.
  3. All the very best with her as your doing a grand job with a grand dog from grand lads.
  4. My goldie cock does,i have had a siskin hen on her own in there but he ignores her totaly.Got a red factor hen due to hatch and my greenie cock produced some mules with her last year so maybe he'll have had a go this year as well?.Will only know when the eggs hatch really,i got given a siskin cock for my lonely hen today and out of the blue the fella turned round and also let me bring home a pair of chaffies to try out in my aviary .But as with birds came home to find a dead day old chick in with my blue irish pair and it seems it was pulled out when the egg shell was dumped as it was at the
  5. All the best Mikey88,but don't get disheartend if this round don't go right there'll be others this season
  6. So far it's been up and down, doing well with the mules and the redpolls, just the lutino greenies(lost one nest of 3 eggs) and the goldies to go now and off to pick up a siskin cock tomorrow for my hen and if they all produce one nest each this year i'll be more than happy. The misses won't be mind as it'll mean more avairies .
  7. Shame that and maybe worth getting a extra canary hen in if your getting big broods or those bengalees finches there ment to be very good foster parents or maybe hand rearing them?.Good luck with the other 3 though and don't go going all foriegn on us Bear, natives all the way mate .
  8. Thats what i have got chinese quail and i put branches of conifer and artificial xmas tree branches along the sides of my aviaries.
  9. Give the quail some cover to go into and they shouldn't be bouncing off the roof,i have 2 pairs one in each of my aviaires and they never bounce off the roof.Last year one even went broody and reared a couple of chicks and she's just gone down again and is sitting hard,i just move slowly around them and never have hassle of them spooking. As for the budgies, horrid things and get some natives instead .
  10. Very true mate and have not ment to pull the dog in any way,no point in pushing them down and trying to force it as if it's in them they will go for sure and letting them do their thing is really the only way to go as like you say there the ones that know and were just there for the digging bit at times .

    Man sheds

First of all Matty,a dyson hoover in a man shed? . But anyway here's mine and the outside Might be more of a bird room than a man shed really thinking about it
  13. Seem to have postedthe same pic twice there ,here the other 4 chick pic i ment to post.
  14. Some of this years young so far. My lads first ever chicks,Lesser redpolls. One of them a few weeks later His second nest full(4 chicks) One of his goldie x irish mules and another my greenie mule(and not the best pic)
  15. It's deffo not a chiffchaff and would have siad the same as the others, reed warbler.
  16. Don't want to put a dampner on this in anyway as the man likes been said has got the bug but anyone think the dog may have jacked?,the fox was not seen going away and the terrier didn't want to re enter after the going got tougher with him getting closer.Just asking and not pulling the dog no way but seeing as this chap doesn't know, this is also the ways of a jacking terrier is it not?. . Did enjoy the read myself and i hope it hasn't but it needs descussing does it not?.
  17. It's worth checking out bird trader for cheep 2nd hand breeding cages and such like lads for your bird sheds, there usally in the bird accesories bit. .
  18. You are right Meroman and i do have all breeding records and any unrung birds i have the rung parents so if in the event i can dna proove all my birds are 1000% legal and aviary bred, have heard some horror stories myself and even birds dieing and being released before court cases ect have been heard. The redpolls i rung are doing all fine and i do admit to being a mincer with the ringing but by god that was a stress out and i hope your right that it gets easier, but it was good to see both parents feeding them straight afterwards and no bother with them being chucked out the nest. Sparrowhawk
  19. I'm no expert in any form mate but if that was me i'd smash the nest and let her go again.
  20. Same as really, how long has she been sat hard on a empty nest? as if it's been a while i'd pull the nest down and her rebuilding might trigger the egg laying bit off for her.I rang my redpoll chicks today, well two of 4 as 2 were to big to ring and have to say the ringing bit has got to be the worse bit of keeping birds, hated every stressed out minuet of it and not sure if i can cope with that and am having a serious think about carrying on any more.

    Inventions

Hope the old fella with the clip board has paid off his mortage as he's on the dole soon. All this technology and people are still starving to death, would rather see it put to better use than saving a fecking car rental company money.
  22. Don't worry UTD,QPR will stuff them last game of the season(he says in dreamland hope as a QPR fan )
  23. So how long before the first tracked fox gets taken?,i'll give it by the weekend for mangey chico.
  24. My misses has one and she's a pet,far to heavy and without turning ability really for use in the UK,but saying that if you did have one that would bowl over the bigger game i'm sure it wouldn't feck around and just the hit/bowl over(call it what you will) from one would drop most men no problem.
  25. Not one of the natural ponds round me in south norfolk is any where near pre dought hight, another few weeks might get them topped back up but i doub't it.One thing is the water meadows are finaly under water for the first time in over a year and they need a good flooding to be what they are,bit sunny here today mind and aren't the bunnies out in numbers getting fed without a soaking.
