Sort of luck i've been having mate, but good luck with the goldie mules. One of the new birds i got the other day is a egg eater, have lost 2 irish/goldie and a lutino greenie egg to it and both hens jumped the nests as well.Going to have to build a new flight for the new pairs and hope they sort it out,i have got some old eggs that are duff and was thinking of putting mustard in a couple like you would do with a chook egg eater, would this or does this work with natives anyone???????.

fireman replied to captain2010's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
He may be 12 but he needs to learn a bit quicker than he is. -
Up towards St Davids is also cracking but do take a lead for the dog as that coastal path is not a place for a run around dog mate, buster try down on the foot bridge in Cardigan on a low tide.Mental bass underneath it at times and a free lined sand eel or crab bait caught me my pb from there.I lived that way before i moved to Norfolk and i used to fish 3-5 days a week there it was so good, now i go out maybe 3-5 times a year to the brown featureless puddle thats the north sea.Have fun fella's.

Thats a risk we all take Gnipper when pairing up birds, are we wasting our time?.Only way to find out mate is to try, some we win, some!,well were learning that one eh
-
Big fat full crops, cracking and just what you want to see with chicks.Well done that man and his birds.
-
My quail will feed alongside my natives no problem what so ever, never even seen them shoo each other off the mealworm dish.As for rats yes they will and do take quail,i lost all my youngsters my quial raised last year and i searched the aviary high and low for a gap big enough for a rat to get through let alone pull a quail through but couldn't find anything, not even a few feathers but i did have some young rats under the paving slab floor i have,a ferret and a plummer terrier soon saw them off and these days i run a poison bait box 24/7 as if it ain't rats it's fecking mice your'll attract wi

Red factor eggs all clear and she's jumped the nest anyway, thats my step back for today .The 2 steps forward are 2 redpoll chicks have fledged and i have a couple of lutino greenie eggs ,that'll do for today .

Cracking Gnipper,if you can paint the wire black before the birds go in and your'll see them so much better mate and all the best with the mule eggs.Luck is half the job i'm begining to recon in this game and you wouldn't go far wrong with a pair of redpolls to start with Mikey, cracking little birds that do well in cage or aviary.
-
All the very best with her as your doing a grand job with a grand dog from grand lads.
-
My goldie cock does,i have had a siskin hen on her own in there but he ignores her totaly.Got a red factor hen due to hatch and my greenie cock produced some mules with her last year so maybe he'll have had a go this year as well?.Will only know when the eggs hatch really,i got given a siskin cock for my lonely hen today and out of the blue the fella turned round and also let me bring home a pair of chaffies to try out in my aviary .But as with birds came home to find a dead day old chick in with my blue irish pair and it seems it was pulled out when the egg shell was dumped as it was at the

All the best Mikey88,but don't get disheartend if this round don't go right there'll be others this season
-
So far it's been up and down, doing well with the mules and the redpolls, just the lutino greenies(lost one nest of 3 eggs) and the goldies to go now and off to pick up a siskin cock tomorrow for my hen and if they all produce one nest each this year i'll be more than happy. The misses won't be mind as it'll mean more avairies .
-
Shame that and maybe worth getting a extra canary hen in if your getting big broods or those bengalees finches there ment to be very good foster parents or maybe hand rearing them?.Good luck with the other 3 though and don't go going all foriegn on us Bear, natives all the way mate .
-
Thats what i have got chinese quail and i put branches of conifer and artificial xmas tree branches along the sides of my aviaries.
-
Give the quail some cover to go into and they shouldn't be bouncing off the roof,i have 2 pairs one in each of my aviaires and they never bounce off the roof.Last year one even went broody and reared a couple of chicks and she's just gone down again and is sitting hard,i just move slowly around them and never have hassle of them spooking. As for the budgies, horrid things and get some natives instead .
-
Very true mate and have not ment to pull the dog in any way,no point in pushing them down and trying to force it as if it's in them they will go for sure and letting them do their thing is really the only way to go as like you say there the ones that know and were just there for the digging bit at times .

There's a funny one on a barn on the A14 heading west,it says "you are now leaving the future".This is on a road out of Norfolk ffs .

First of all Matty,a dyson hoover in a man shed? . But anyway here's mine and the outside Might be more of a bird room than a man shed really thinking about it

Don't want to put a dampner on this in anyway as the man likes been said has got the bug but anyone think the dog may have jacked?,the fox was not seen going away and the terrier didn't want to re enter after the going got tougher with him getting closer.Just asking and not pulling the dog no way but seeing as this chap doesn't know, this is also the ways of a jacking terrier is it not?. . Did enjoy the read myself and i hope it hasn't but it needs descussing does it not?.
