  1. Looks like its got a belly full of something .Is it me or have fish changed their feeding habits drastically .Predators on pellets.Mate of mine had a carp on a dead minnow put out for eels .Opportunism I suppose .
  2. On the subject of pike ,has livebait been banned nationwide as every water we visit has a ban .Dead baits fished hard or just off the bottem will score you bigger fish every time .Puncture the swim bladder to create a fast sinker or ram it full of pop up boilies in weeded areas to let it "sit" on weed .Used to inject deadbaits with air but this dosnt last long .
  3. Dont forget whos coming up later in the year .Would be nice to see something .lol.
  4. Seen a fair few on the lamp mate ,various farms so yes a call is on soon .The place I took you to with all the deer has been shot heavy Ive found out !.Not seen a muntie for a while now but you never know ?
  5. My ticket says .22-pest and vermin control ?Get yours changed mate .
  6. This is what damage it caused .Meopta 6-24x50 .
  7. I cannot thank a mate of mine enough for lending me ,indefinately,a scope for the new tikka t3 ,243.Zeroed it in yesterday evening and then set off for a well earned stalk .Foxhunter will know the area on a set aside field full of self sown rape in strips left by the combine 2 years ago .Spied a pair of roe on the far side and made out one as a buck .The stalk was challenging as they were in sight the whole time with 2 pairs of eyes to contend with .But ,by being careful to move only when both had their heads down I narrowed the gap to 70yds.I've recently bought a set of stalking sticks of the
  8. Thanks to the generosity of a good mate ,I now have a scope for the tikka .More of which will follow in a new topic !
  9. IMO and as a rule of thumb ,if your dog is eating unusual amounts of grass then it is deficient in something and should be encouraged to eat some form of veg .This may require liquidising and adding to the meat as some dogs do not take to raw veg .
  10. That squirrel in your avatar is a cracker mate .Not quite as big as around us ,must be a young'un .lol.
  11. Thats an option mate but I dont see why our premiums should go up because of someone elses f*ck up .
  12. I recently bought a t3 from a local gunshop ,got it home and put the strap and scope on it from my .222 with a veiw to get out and zero it .Its fitted with a t8 silencer so weighs a bit .Put the strap onto my shoulder to see just how heavy it is and the front stud pulled out the rifle ,dropping everything on the floor.A look at it revealed that I could push the fecker in and out by hand .The scope is dented and the front glass smashed ,basically a write-off .The neoprene sleeve on the silencer saved the barrel and action from damage but the scope took the full force on a tiled floor .Phoned up
  13. My mate had 300 lb from the same lake ,same swim the day after.Much bolder bites than I was getting so a pre-baiting session in order I think .
  14. Nice one mate .We are out tommorow night dealing with cubs and adults that are savaging dairy cattle ?.
  15. Any tool of that discription is likely to be hand made mate .Made from 1,1/4" steel water pipe with a connector in the middle or preferably at the top with a T-piece as the handle and unscrew point .The one I used to have, held a bar inside for tough going but needed taking out on a routine dig as it was noisy and heavy .No pics mate as I no longer have it .
  16. Skycat has IMO the right answer .Judging by the pic of the dog its fine and eating enough as it is .Dont forget the greens side of raw though mate .
  17. What I want to know is- who is going to take his place .The man was a real help with 'Stuff '.Good luck lennard .
  18. Something else to pull out then .lol.
  19. Day out on a local lake by kind invitation. I've fished this water several times so knew what the methods were and wasted no time mixing up a large batch of groundbait with added molasses and a touch of scopex .Fired out 6 tennis ball sized balls on the 30 yard mark, keeping them in a 3 m circle, and set up the feeder rod and pike rig! ..Few casts to the mark until I was happy and clipped up the line with an elastic band. This is preferable to the reel clip as there are a few decent carp in here that would smash the line if clipped tight .6 pound line, inline method feeder to top up the bait be
  20. I think what Kate is saying is that the drive to reproduce can and will over-ride anything you are trying to achieve with an entire dog .Take a pack out of mixed sex and if one of the bitches is in or coming in then forget any hunting.
  21. The hobs we own are only used to bolt rabbits when no nets are required ie-lurchers or shotguns .The bigger hobs do play havoc with nets which is where the jills are used as they usually walk through them .Personally digging has never been a problem for me as i love it .Just as an added extra -we recently used a large hob for dealing with fox cubs to good effect ,bolting them into rabbit nets .
  22. The tight ,white plummage may be deceptive in judging the beak but they could be ravens .How many of you have seen a raven fledgling anyway ?.No doubt someone will track this story and reveal all .
  23. Thick-o alert here but I take it that trap is for ferals John .Cant see a woodie pushing past the non returns but there again! .
  24. I think most of you lads would be surprised at how much bull blood there is in the make up of our pats today. Not many of the well known breeders will admit to it but those they sell to certainly have . .Admittidly most lines are now bred true but its there all the same .IMO ,there is no need what so ever to add bull to a proven line of pats ,it takes several generations to get back to size and for what -a bigger head .Straight bulls have thier place but please leave them out of the pat .
