What im saying is that hounds will only swim mid stream for a few minutes before loosing the drift on water, then check bankside .They can own a scent bankside up to 2 days old and speak but the trick is knowing which way the buggers going /has been and will they catch up in daylight .Some seasoned hounds have different voices for old /new scent which makes for easier hunting or did pre ban .     What a shame to see that many deer in a pile from what was obviously a grand day out .Respect costs nothing but is the mark of a sportsmen .I undestand the hurry to get them to a dealer but piling them up does nothing for the quality of meat .Not a dig mate but just a point of view.

    Back to the chicken farm again ,this time its personal .The cheeky fox that has been seen carrying chickens struck again today at 1730 and i have been over there since that time just sitting and watching .Darkness came and i put the lamp on the .222 along with the ambre filter .Moved position so i could scan more ground from another position but with a lesser background .Didnt take long before i picked out the eyes of charlie and coming in towards me in fact ,between two chicken sheds and on the inside of the electric fence too .How cheeky ! .This fox wasnt behaving like any other id seen beca

    Scent 'hangs' across water and not in it as said and only very temporary.Hounds will /can only own a scent on water for minutes at a time .Mink like any other mammal are always looking to expand territory and the natural way to go about it is to travel upstream .When you remove a mink from a stretch you create open ground that is filled by another pushing its own boundaries .When the old scent ,spraint ,of a mink gets weaker due to it having been caught then this triggers off movement all along the bank .The only time mink move freely along territories is in early spring when dogs are lookin

    IF YOU GET A VISIT FROM THE GOOD OLD RSPCA -THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO ENTER YOUR PREMISES WITHOUT FIRSTLY BEING INVITED BY YOU OR WITH ACCOUMPANYING POLICE OFFICERS .YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LET THEM IN WITHOUT THE POLICE PRESENT .     Out on the quad last night around a place that draws foxes for miles .As we unloaded the quad ,we could hear a vixen screaming not too far away .This is late in the season for it really but theres always something to surprise you . In the first field there was nothing but hares which we leave here but sure enough in the next field there was a dog and a vixen ,surprising how fast he had come running for his leg over .They were that close ,they appeared as one animal .At about 150 yards away i wasnt phased and set the .222's bipod up for a prone shot.The dog fell on the spot with the vixen runn
