  1. To be honest mate ,its the easy ones that make us look silly from time to time .Bin there done that .No shame in it ,much
  2. Cracking mate ,Nice to see them, in small numbers
  3. Got to Martins place at 0600 this morning and we set off for his munty ground .Arrived in good time in the dark and as we climbed to the position ,we could hear a muntie buck barking in some fir plantings to our right and only 60 yds away .As we got to the shooting position ,another muntie barked in answer to the first ,almost certainly a doe .Martin recorded it on his phone ,played it back and was answered immediately from infront of us .A magical start to the morning if ever there was one .Daylight came slowly and the barking stopped as i knew it would .A fox managed to come in unseen along
  4. Good set up there mate .Voles in this country are mainly found with a roof over their heads ,ie in long grass, under plastic or wood and dont cause much of a problem in gardens .Its also the main food of several raptors which are nice to see including the barn owl .
  5. Not meaning to cast aspersons on anyones trap checking but if done at last light and early morning ,the badgers dont have a chance to steal from tunnels .Just an observation from time served on the ground .Foxes ,well thats another matter . .
  6. Cheers for that mate ,did the same on google but the other number is not recognised .Very ,very interesting this is .Someone will have some explaining to do for sure .Thanks again mate .
  7. Allgame -mate ,you are showing a distinct lack of knowledge if you believe we breed for brawn only .If a terrier cant find it cant stay .It goes hand in hand ,its just expected so not often mentioned . Your dogs that do a stint in and then out are useless over here ,a fault not to be bred from but hey horses for courses and if your dogs honestly do what you require of them , then who are we to criticise .
  8. Cracking day mate ,we covered the best part of 4000 acres on sunday and never found a single fox to ground .I thought maybe a vixen would be in but it was very mild to the extreme down here .T shirt weather anyway .Well done again mate .
  9. Well Mark ,you are spot on .Hes always moaning about something ,be it deer ,pigeons or rabbits .The rabbits have learnt to jump the electric fence ,a fact which he refuses to believe but ive sen them at it .The pigeons come first light when the gas guns off and the deer ,well they please themselves when they come and go. That makes for 22 deer shot on 7 acres in 4 months ,and still they come
  10. Can you say why this is important mate ,not that i can help .
  11. Sunday morning saw me off to the market garden at first light ,before going digging ,the main event of my Sundays now .Arrived to see a glorious sunrise over a foggy carpet on the lower ground.Deer slots every where but it wasnt until i was near the far boundary that i glassed any out grazing .Three roe were on the cabbages ,munching away like it was their god given right to be there .A young buck ,an elderly doe and a young doe ,probably both hers from last year . I was still a good way off and the back drop wasnt there so a gradually stalk in to roughly 150 yds up over the ground which
  12. Never mind mate, always the bucks to look forward to .
  13. the numberrs he posted are of the League against Cruel Sports not his buddys. Tell me foxdropper has you friend sold any dogs or hunting gear here or on the net becuase this would hardly be a new tactic if it was the case.. Like in 1992 i think it was there was the undercover documentary featurring Tom Parr and the undercover filming of all the craic any hunting man old enough will remember it. The main way of the fella infiltrating the lads was ringing up adds for dogs and building a false identity. Could this be the case here. 16 years later/?? He can think of nothing that hes d
  14. A mate of mine has recently had two phone calls from non withheld numbers asking him about everything ranging from dog cruelty to badger baiting .The caller hangs up when asked for a name but stays very cool even when voices are raised.Ones a women ,the others a man ,both young sounding .They claim to be from the media but a ring back confirms they are L.A.C . Now then if its true, then theres someone or some group thats passing on info to them . The numbers he was phoned on are -07980232287 and 07977292534. To say be careful is an understatement .
  15. This is what i found further up the trail.Threw me too i guess .I thought it would be a fleeter footed beast than old brock .
  16. It happens mate ,especially in woodland where its not the deer you can see that is the problem .For every deer standing i like to look for at least 2 sitters .If there not there then its game on.
  17. Did i read that right mate ,5 bucks .Well, you know i dont like to push mate but ..................... How about i come down Monday and we try over the far ground of yours mate ?
  18. Saw a hedgehog out the other night actually and i would go with that .They tend to live exclusively on earthworms around us so soil is the main 'ingredient 'in the faeces .It breaks down fast and is easily washed away but being omnivores ,the diet will vary with regions i guess .And yes hedgehogs are omnivores as a pet one will attest too .
  19. Rats leave a greasy looking run mate .Mink prints are nearly the same as a cat but smaller obviously .Part eaten fish ,a trail of scales ,scat like a ferret [shit].You may see a boulder or stone on the river bank or mid stream which looks permanently wet/shiny .Its where the mink will take a kill .Good luck with your findings mate .
