  1. ................and long may it be so mate .
  2. Welcome .A good introduction mate ,look forward to your posts and pics .
  3. why do you say in the MISTAKEN belief. if the breeding is there then he is not mistaken. i know he has not covered himself in glory by passing other stock off as his own. but from what i'm aware he knows his stuff re genetics and breeding. and as has been said he has produced good quality consistantly for many years. one of the main complaints about his stuff when i was young was that they where to big and chesty. now he has them down to a handy size they are to small. he has had his line for many years and his reputation for breeding good terriers for working foxes to ground is still good. so
  4. Ill take a guess that its got some wheeler in it.
  5. There seems to be people chipping in here for the sake of it ,stirring shit for the love of it.Brian has in the past produced probably the highest number of workers consistently than any other commercial breeder .Note i say ,in the past as recently he has lost sight of the ball so to speak . An upsurge in terrier interest enlightened Brian to the fact that there was money to be made and im afraid he lost the plot a bit .I have his old stuff in the yard and would never slate the man for what he had 20 years ago .He made the mistake of giving refunds and mistake it was as these failures would h
  6. Very strange head that mate but a good cull nontheless.Dont think its peruke related ,just velvet ,blood vessel damage. Was the buck entire mate ?
  7. I ,along with many lads i know do not have the dsc at all and have all the stalking i could ever wish for and no sign of any change either .So far as i see it you lads are playing right into their hands with the paperwork ,youve opened up the flood gates for more paperwork and more costing to yourselves .Some of you ,and i say some of you seem to think you are a cut above the rest simply because you do things according to a manual!.Ive stalked with several of these types and the bigotry was amazing ,cut short by one know all when a head shot went badly wrong on a fallow doe and this fron a lea
  8. The third one in Mark ,whats the story with the hole?Forgive me if im imagining it!
  9. As a young keeper we were requested to hang vermin on traditional lines and were paid according to what we trapped and shot .Foxes however were never to be strung up as they according to the owner ,looked better infront of hounds We were however paid for tails handed in . Foxes stretch fence wire too
  10. Glad to see you having a few now mate ,perhaps you wont be selling the rifle .
  11. Its the anticipation mate ,it gets me every time .Well done on that buck mate , fully mature ,good weight by the looks of it.
  12. Not been there for ages mate .The disturbance at the end of the winter ,the ditching and hedge cutting had an affect on the deer so hopefully with a bit of regrowth we will see a few back there .
  13. Theres quite a few gamedealers that need educating on the subject John .Paying according to the shot
  14. As said ,no need whatsoever to open the chest cavity in the field .
  15. Chicken wing versus a bloody good romp on a deers arse .Well no contest really .Give him the wing when the chest slows down a bit
  16. Tried a place last evening where the deer come down to a pasture ground from a 150 acre wood nearby .To say there was deer eveywhere is an understatement as there literally was ,at every turn .Muntjac in the farmers garden ,verboten here as the wife likes to see them but elsewhere fair game .A buck and doe crossed a gap in the hedge in front of me followed by another older buck still in velvet. In the next field i could see five does and a pricket and on the hill to my left i could see seven deer in all but never got to glass them .A plan was hatched in my head to intercept the two bucks at th
  17. Your a natural with that camera mate ,outshine the likes of Darcy any day.Quality
  18. Personally ,and this is just my view on things ,i would be a little diappointed in a 11 month old terrier if it didnt show a bit more fire about it than that .i know most like to hold back a bit, more because they are told it is the right thing to do and not through an understanding of terriers and why the nead arises. The reason for holding back are, for me two fold 1]to prevent a young tearaway from getting smashed up and 2]to maybe let a slow maturing pup do just that and hopefully mature into a worker .There are however ,middle of the road individuals that you know are ready and these ne
  19. Ive used them all and can honestly say i cant shoot off any of them consistently.Prefer harris attachment
  20. Nice buck there Alan mate and good account of the outing .Many more to follow hopefully.
  21. If your using the same ground year after year mate then gapes are the least of your worries and limimg should of been done at the end of last rearing season and not this close to a new one.
  22. Would anyone like to sponsor me with one of their pups ,no money and just my guarrantee that ill work it.Favour returned in the future though.Always wanted one of them but the right sort never appeared .
  23. In my experience John it will be a vixen with cubs .Foxes kill more of anything when there is a glut ,they are programmed to do this ,to hide the carcass for leaner times which would of happened if left alone .Foxes are notorious killers of anything helpless .Keep plugging away mate .
  24. Daft women ,lol.A burn is a stream /small brook .The scottish name for a wood is fir plantation
