  8. The other side of the coin -The trouble with a small acreage is that roe are seasonal browsers, picking at what is best at any one time on or near your ground . I would say make the most of what you do have and shoot whatever you like within reason .Nature will fill that vacuum quicker than any plant will grow i can assure you . Land management is a full time job and out the reach of a man not on the ground permanently .To dabble here and there is to do just that .Roe tend to hammer what they find tasty ,ask any market gardener, hence a small patch of anything wont last long . Obviously the big

  11. tikka 222 Posted Yesterday, 08:39 PM this is for waidmann,it actually is illegal to posses gin traps unless they have been sandblasted to be used as ornaments.....and a snare is still a snare!! Good one Just out of interest as things have changed since i last did much trapping but can you still use the gin in a tunnel the same as a fenn, by law.
  12. Velvet or hard antler ,its a poor stalker who cant tell the age of a buck and its potential when clean by looking at in velvet .By age i mean whether its old or young .All mature sixes are left to clean to then be accessed from there .There will be those who will be shaking their heads at this but you only really judge a buck by whats on his head this year and not what you believe will be on it next year .Also ,the same as does on any one day ,you only compare what is in front of you and not what you saw yesterday or hope to see tommorrow. Even on large tracts of land bucks wander in and out

  14. Drove to a place this morning in the dark arriving just in time to see the first rays of sunlight and what a sunrise it was ,absolutely stunning so stunning i forget all about a pic of it ,just enjoyed the moment .This place is made up of a central track with 3 fields either side leading to 4 across the top if that makes sense.Stalked left handed as this is my preferred route, wind permitting. The second field over i bumped a group of deer from the next hedge back that ran to the far boundary and they stood ,a buck and 3 does, looking intently my way at about 90 yards in the middle of the fi
