  3. Seen it first hand and its the dogs danglees. If Martin does get proper busy then i suppose ill just have to come down and do his ground as well as my own like a proper mate .Larder set up is first class by the way .
  4. I rang a farmer to ask if if hed seen any deer yet on his place as its only a very small piece of ground ,six fields in all but surrounded by the best roe ground you could wish for .The furthest field on the left ,last years new ley actually is where the deer love to congregate whenever they are left alone as they have been since the end of the doe season and sure enough ,a peep around the gateway revealed four roe out feeding, two does and two young bucks .I also spotted two does couched to my right up the hedge and the ones to watch when a stalk started .The others were about 150 yds out in
  5. Do you mean to say there are people out there who dont declare it,shocked i am .One chap puts the point across that some is exported well just to put that to bed ,most venison in this country is exported and it pays just a bit less than at home .Thats straight from the mouth of my dealer .The trouble with it is there is always someone who will sell it just to get rid instead of ringing round .I told one dealer he was getting no more from me unless he made it up by 10 p and he said ok but only takes mine if hes pushed .He does pay well on the hares though at £6.50 a piece .
  6. Was on a hilux mate but you need to measure as they are not all the same apparently
  7. Nothing wrong with the odd long shot when you are on form mate ,its the frustrated long shots that normally feck up .
  8. It dosnt take much to jog a memory even though its blurred a bit now but my early days with the airgun come flashing back at unexpected times and all good too .First thing ever shot was a squirrel off a mates bird table and i lived off that shot for weeks, thought i was second cousin to dirty harry .
  9. Nicely written mate and some top class shooting i must say .10 shots for 10 kills straight aint to be sniffed at when your tired ,lol. Still plenty about though so no dent made .I reckon that when luck was given out you were up there at the front either that or im just a bloody good, all round, guide . Theres been another big buck seen at Lyneham by the way so a trip out there is on the cards i feel .Weather here looks good for the weekend so heres to hoping .Cheers mate .

  11. Pleasure to have both of you on the ground and congrats on the chicken killer mate .Foxhunter and myself had a cracking few days none stop stalking with a few good beasts grassed as well as cull animals .Thanks again to you Matt for taking those beasts down to martins on the way home .
  12. Im off to the states soon and will be stacking up on clothes and small items .Like a kid in a sweet shop over there ,dont know where to start .Would like to know more about the import of firearms and scopes as they really are very cheap compared to here .

  14. Saturday afternoon saw more rain but Matt came up anyway .Martin was invited too but the weather put paid to his trip im guessing . We set off about 5 to get to a place that ive not stalked all season but seen the odd doe when lamping. The weather really was rank ,driving rain and a gale force wind but like true soldiers ,on we went .Not long into the stalk ,I asked Matt to look around a gateway and he motioned that there was a buck lead up under the far hedge and about 150yds away .I moved forward and glassed him seeing that he was fully clean and an odd shaped head ,lopsided .There was no
  15. You shot many deer mate. Not being funny but ive NEVER seen a doe of any species hang around to be shot after her follower has bit the dust .
  16. Yes mate your right and with fading light and not much of a blood trail ,RC wasnt looking forward to the Bollocking
  17. Yesterday evening saw me down in Somerset with an anxious look at the skies .The week has been a total wash out at work and im well behind but i hoped that maybe a break in the rain would allow us to do a bit of stalking .I took Martin the buck shot earlier in the week and after getting that in the larder it appeared to be dry enough for a look out .Martin drove to one of my favourite spots of his ,a dell set in a valley or a small valley within a valley for those not familiar with the word .We glassed the top fields from the road and could clearly see a deer on one of the top pastures ,a doe
  18. 19. The longer version ,lol goes like this .Tuesday evening i decided to have a look over one of my furthest permissions and took RC along as hes as keen as .The first field held a brace of does that skipped through the hedge to the next field ,not spooked by us i might add but playfull it seemed .The next field saw the reason why .A young buck was chasing a young doe up the far hedge and they in turn had brought the other two through that we were watching. This time of year i find is full of chasing and sizing up so nothing new going on here .The young spiker chased all three through a gap to th
