    Far too good for what i want mate .What makes me smile here is the lads that were all for holding a dog back in another thread til 2 and here they are agreeing this dog is shite and should be pts .What hope is there really . If you do rehome mate get the dog neutered so as to prevent it being bred off .

    Personally i think the art of rat control without poison has been lost on most of the lads working,owning the big firms .The firm that does the control on my local chicken farm was asked if it was good practice to run a trapline along side poisoning and he told the farmer trapping is now illegal .

    Maybe a quick outline of the legislation involving fox snaring would be helpful as not having done the course myself i am interested. ie where to set and the illegal use of kill posts etc,drag poles .Actually is it illegal to set in a hedge any more or in fences as dosnt this turn an anti locker into a locker by using the background material as a kill post. Read the defra guidelines but nothing there to say what the law is on where to set .Clarification would be nice.Cheers in advance

    Used to people as its on the side of a golf course . 20 year ago it would have been mate but can now sit back and watch having done most things That buck has eluded the keeper for 2 seasons where he is .Cant shoot anywhere near the course obviously and he hang out with the does that make it their home .Managed to get on a few in the rut apparently mind

    The problem with boisterous pups is when they turn as a group on one pup .Had a few casualties in the past before they went .Its not the teeth but the trauma that kills i think .

I guess some of us were fortunate in that we had the chance to get out with those that knew the game inside out and knew how to pass it on too .The method of breeding good reliable stock was explained in full and having done for ,for so long it appears strange there are other variations .Still cant get me head round late starters though .

    Youve not answered anything .Why are your dogs or anyone elses for that matter ,late starters .You refer to times gone by but no change from what i remember .Perhaps things have softened for you ,the thought in the back of your mind that you could of done things better .Me ,no regrets at all and im now where my mentor was when he explained it to me .Like i said too late for some but hey ho .

    Explain why you have late starters then mate ,should make for interesting reading .By your last post ,that puts you in the category of not breeding a line therefore its understandable that you are confused and looking for an explanation as to why some of your stock is lacking and cull worthy .

    Why would anyone with anything decent put it up for stud anywhere unless money is involved .If you have a decent producing dog you will know of loads of bitches ready to line and there is a limit to how many pups you can except back so it must mean money .

    What it boils down to is this i think .Many on here have gone through life trying this dog and that dog ,a few big name dogs and bred a few off non descripts themselves .Some because they know no better and some because they cant be assed to do any research.To expect any levelling out and confidence in what you have with this method is confusing for these owners whereby they choose to broaden standards to suit their own haphazard methods .Anybody SERIOUS about the game and had the forsight ,mentoring is breeding a line. There will be be incoming im sure but for many of you its too late .Line

    Would be foolish to say guarantee but 75% will go on to make what i class as good digging dogs.The outcross is not always the same mate but it will be from another line similar to my own .4 or 5 gens of turning back in is about right for me before i think about outcross.Bit more to it but ive been over it before .

    Every dog aint different though mate .It really suprises me to read shit like this on here time after time and re-afirms the fact that loads of you still scatter breed with no other agenda than the last one worked .Going over the same ground as most of my posts in banging on about lines and the importance of it is getting boring for many i see including me and i sometimes wonder why i bother but if you breed a line then they are exactly that ,a line of clones almost that behave so similar its like they are clockwork .The only description in them being not machines is the amount of work i give

My passing phase is in its 42nd years and sill learning lol mind you still know fook all If you wind your neck in and read the post you will see i put on the end JMO .just my opinion.At the age of 2 if they aint done nowt they are gone.
