    We are currently working on a very old property ,flag stone courtyard and ashlar walls .The owner said he had a few house martins arrive and so I suggested putting down a bag of top soil suitably dampened to allow nest building without the birds having to travel miles for materials .Went from two pairs Wednesday to 32 pairs nesting Friday .The twittering they make is captivating tbh .

    We get the odd blackcap on the feeders and a more aggressive bird you’ve yet to find for it’s size .Makes a robin look like an angel . Saw a brambling yesterday and found a wagtails nest 3 eggs .Always good to just sit and watch especially killing squigs at same time .

    Another mint night tonight Mark .Some huge fuckers too.The sheds were pulled with chickens in because the rats were killing chickens and I guess the protein has bulked a few up nicely .

    Not that I know mate .Seen a few dogs new to it with streaming eyes but mine seem ok .Done it since they were 6 months old .Dread to think how many the old girl has had .Should of kept a tally but she’s up there even at 14 with the top killers on a session .

    Been there mate .lol. One of lads on here is a regular and his young son at the time few years back fell in the black slime face first .Did we laugh ffs ? Dogs in it are a pain .Had one of mine swimming in it dunking to kill a rat .Fair play for determination but by feck they stink for weeks .lol.

    Did the second shed this evening .Warm start but cooled off nicely as the action heated up .All dogs worked well ,no fights of any consequence .My old girl was a pillar of restraint with the Russell’s that she usually hates lol.Finished on 248 which was a bit shy of my prediction of 300.Still decent bag though .Had couple Bedlingtons along tonight which worked like trogons .Few water breaks in which my two insisted on getting in the bowl Young bitch still a bit sore from the other night I think . Bite on bitches eye looked worse than it is .All washed off and she’s fine .

    My own experience with ex layers has been all negative mate .Taking the wing braces off ,they all remembered how to fly in no time .Put leg rings on most of them and shot 26 out of 350 .Neighbour was a mate who rejoiced in keeping the rings they shot lol.We had last laugh when most of their ducks preferred our ponds though .You can’t keep adult birds like poults without a net over and dribble out few days before shooting .In my experience they never get to know the ground from a pen and just want to wander ,not being tied to a place like a poult .     Tbh mate if you’ve got to go to those lengths to eat something it ain’t edible ..lol Ive eaten canadas just because I hate waste but every mouthful was like a bush tucked trial . Slow cooked in cider was a waste of cider ,roasted as you say was shite . Not tried burgers but will this winter .Sporting bird flighted though ,,,,,,not . Shot them with shotgun ,airgun and centrefire for pest control in many situations .

    Place near Halifax mate near the coast .Be there in late December .Miami September and Africa November .Just the two of us as kids are off elsewhere .Wife wants a beach holiday soon though so guess I’ll tag along ?

    Last in Menorca in 2000, Binibeca .Was very sparsely populated in land but coast a few holiday areas .Spent my time catching geckos and skinks .Plenty of bird life and blue seas with loads of fish as you stated .A loaf of bread had the sea boiling and caught plenty on a hand line .Would go back in a heart beat tbh but like to see other parts the world . Got 3 big uns booked this year at moment .Canada ,Africa and Miami in reverse order lol.Lifes too short to hang on to money so spend it while you can is my motto .
