He had eaten all the nuts..........and if you look closely you will see that he is now praying

The day got off to a bad start.......phone call first thing......"You've caught a Hedgehog, can you come and let it out" I had a squirrel cage out in a clients garden, I had caught the female and one of the two youngsters, and was waiting to catch the last Little Un. I had set the cage just in the garden alongside the fence the family of squirrels was using to access the roof always a safe bet for a catch as they can't seem to resist the draw of the peanut baited cage. The next call was from an eating establishment, (well more of a greasy spoon job actually). A rat had been playing havoc w

20-24 inches is ample in my opinion, depending on the ground conditions of course, but each netter has his or her own preference about peg length......... so use what works best for you. Rolfe.

Even the best metal detector..one costing many hundreds of pounds ....will only detect to a depth of just over a foot deep....so if the ferret was at any depth the detector would prove useless Rolfe.

Here's one that was on it's way to the taxidermist.......the picture was taken a few years ago though. Rolfe.

Well done Lass.......nice one Rolfe.

Some interesting facts amongst the fiction........the ones about the phases of the moon and rabbit numbers caught is something i studied many years ago and is very true. Good read........and a very entertaining book. Grandad Bedson certainly knew his stuff.

I use the Talpex trap almost exclusively nowadays but have never seen the need for that little device (it came to my attention a while back now). It is easy to set the Talpex in such away that the trigger plate sits half-inch off the bottom of the mole run........so i can't see the point of using such a device.........but each to their own i suppose. Rolfe.

That's a good bag for the first shoot of the season........well done to the lad... so nice to see someone take the time to dress for the occasion. Roast duck on the menu then soon.........lovely Rolfe.

Sloes stubby by the look of it mate.........nice to make sloe gin but wait till after the first frosts they are better.....if the birds haven't pinched them all first If decoying woodpigeon you want the wind at your back if you can get it.........as woodies always try and land into the wind if they can. This way you have pigeons coming to your deeks head on.......so you can take them in front at the correct range for the .410 It doesn't matter if the wind is coming from left or right either, that way you can take them as crossing shots, which personally i find easier........but you need

I don't think it does any harm to stand any traps or cages outside for a bit to remove any oils or odours acquired during manufacture........but it is a personal choice at the end of the day. I have always done it........but that doesn't mean you HAVE to do it Rolfe.

Brilliant picture well done..........one for the album you give him on his 21st.

As Matt said.........you will find a "Setting Stick" useful for sliding under the trap plate whilst covering with soil and also for flicking off the safety catch when you have covered the trap........saves fingers getting in harms way Not everyone uses them but i find them beneficial. You just need a length of straight hazel 9-10 inches long with a taper at one end.

My good friend Dick Hawkins the master net maker from Buckingham who sadly died this year gave me some hand carved netting needles (among some other items) they are fantastic to use. He gave me two Rabbit needles, a Fox net needle and even a tiny one for knitting rat nets.

My Tunnels to take Mk4 Fenns are 565mm long and the internal dimensions are 160mm wide x 145mm high. This is just enough room to allow the trap to spring effectively. The entrance arch is about 80mmX80mm For Mk6 Fenns.....The internal dimensions are 200mm wide X 160mm high......the entrance arch is slightly bigger as i use these mainly for mink (100mmX100mm) Hope this Helps Rolfe.

It's amazing what you can find in just one hedgerow. I was out with the lurchers waiting for a few bunnies to bolt as they were harvesting. and during a lull in proceedings..... took a stroll along the hedge line to see what was about. Sloes were in abundance........and if you like a drop of sloe gin and make your own....... here's a little tip for you. When you remove the sloes from the gin.......remove the stones and squash them a bit, stir them into some melted dark chocolate and then pour out on to a shallow tray and allow to cool. Hey Presto..........chocolate liqueurs........lovely. Wast

Welcome Back Kevin...........I hope we can draw a line under the episode now and move on.......maybe we both saw the rest mist of anger Regards Rolfe.

The BBC will be (as always) treading a very fine line between showing pest control in all it's reality and not upsetting the bunny-hugging licence fee payers. They were wrong to show the fox being released in my opinion.....but i can understand why they did it.

can some one tell me what is rong with my ferret
Rolfe replied to clabby's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Well you should maybe get him to the vets........but i do understand that it is expensive......he's young enough to maybe get some successful treatment on the other hand. Rolfe. -
[ Rolfe your post is a little to say the least contredicorary. You stated beforehand on another thread that the post naming and shaming a dog thief wasnt really the issue, it was the fact a genuine poster questioned your decision to take it down and then made a personal comment towards you, but now your saying that the dog thief thing is an issue. I wasnt on here for the warrener post so i cant comment but what i will say is, Kevin is a genuine dogman, his post was put up to help other genuine dog man, there is no issue in that for anyone as far as im concerned, the man wouldnt have done
