  1. Here we go again, I reckon this'll be a 20 pager.
  2. Have you been to Deerness kennels? All strays from the area get taken there, but I'd keep on at them as they can be funny once they get their hands on a working dog with old scars etc. Just a thought mate.
  3. I think the problem is that lots of lads think charging the collar for an hour here and an hour there will be enough but it isn't, batteries don't work like that. For long life they need to be run down totally flat and then given a good full charge and there should be no problems.
  4. I'm not too far away from there, will keep eyes and ears open this way mate.
  5. I did it because I got an email from the CA asking me to do it. Was worth a punt I suppose. I personally can never see the ban getting uplifted no matter who's in charge, they're all crooked fuckers and don't give a shit about the average person on the street.
  6. Bosun it's because of what you wrote on here about the Glockners when comparing them to Fell Boots that made me get them. Most other boots have the spongey stuff between the boot and the sole which is what gets damaged and is difficult to repair.
  7. This is the reply I received from my local MP in regards to the Hunting Act repeal. Looks like they're not budging.
  8. The Lowa GTX's are a great boot, used them for a few seasons and couldn't fault them. Just got the Meindl Glockners as they seemed the best from what I've read on here for digging. I bought some Altberg Warriors in the winter but although they are a nice, light, comfortable boot they seem a bit lightweight and I'm not sure they would last long for shovelwork so they'll be kept for Friday nights down the pub...
  9. Just looked on the site, is the P+P part of the price or is it extra?
  10. Good posts Blaise, out of interest where do the people in the photos get the overalls from? They look hard wearing and handy to have.
  11. To me it just makes sense to let nature do the work, and if there's problems intervene and help the bitch out. But why fix something that isn't broken?
  12. I agree with the posts by Foxdropper and Corkman, some good advice there. Like my mate says 'a terrier's career is a marathon, not a sprint', why rush the job?
  13. You can't do that with Golfs as the filter sits inside an inbuilt plastic case so you've got to unscrew the plastic cap, replace the filter then put the cap back on. Its a c**t of a job without a strap!lol
  14. That's good to hear, do you know whether there'll be other digging tools to buy aswell as the forks?
  15. I serviced my Golf my self the other week, new sump plug was £2, I got oil, fuel and air filters and the oil all in for about £50 I think it was. Took me about half an hour to do it all. I would advise to get a filter strap or chain to get the cover off the oil filter as they are b*****ds to get off.
  16. I didn't write that to start anything about collie crosses WM lol
  17. Also maybe books like Plummers showed very little digging or otherwise photos because he actually didn't do it enough. I always remember reading his book 'Merle' and he had photos of what looked like the same fox in different poses stood with his dog Merle and his slippers on lol, with the caption underneath 'Merle's 50th of the season' or something similar lmao.
  18. Nice set up, I've been thinking about making something similar but never got my arse into gear to do it. Out of interest how much did it cost from start to finish?
  19. I agree that certain books recently are very photo orientated. I think with a lot of the new books with the Q + A type that everyone gives basically the same answers so makes it a bit repetitive. It would be far more interesting to delve further into the certain persons day to day life with terriers and maybe thoughts and theories that they may have regarding terriers etc etc, it's as if none of the new authors dare put their 'neck on the line' so to speak. The NS book was about the best I've read from recent years. I liked Harcombes 'Work Them Hard..' also.
  20. My mate got brother and sister littermates a few months ago, the bitch had a hernia so he got it fixed pretty cheaply, however it returned and he had her back to the vets and he's been given an £1100 bill...
