    Mate, if that is you in the picture, you are obviously a young guy; don't believe the "many people" who say their Labs course and catch rabbits !! It just doesn't happen !! One or two may taske a rabbit in exceptional circumstances, but NEVER on a regular basis !! My old Doberman has had a rabbit or two, more by good luck than owt else ! LOL " Cheers.

    Now, I'm certainly NOT having a go here; but what did you hope to achieve with what I believe is a Labrador X Bull/Greyhound mating ?? Surely there is insufficient running dog in the cross for them to be classed as "Lurchers", the speed will not be there, to start with !! I have nothing but admiration for Labs and Bull/Greys, in their own enviroment, but can't see what this cross will give in the field ! Cheers.

    I strongly believe in the saying "if it aint there; you can't catch it " !!!! I go on one mates permission and take 4 or 5; go to another mates and get double figures; go to another mates and 20's and 30's are fairly easily managed; I haven't been on land where there would be enough around to take 100 since the early seventies; but if the numbers are there, there are dogs that would do it ! I know two guys on here that have 60, 70, 's with a couple of dogs, regular, just need to get an invite out with them !! LOL !! Cheers.

    As far as I know, there is only one dog thru' to the 3rd round; LDR's dog Bruce, who beat my dog. I ran both my heats on schedule, but so what if the others are a bit late ??? It was meant to be a comp between like minded lads, and yes, Scouser had his concerns, but they were addressed, and hopefully accepted. As for MB, well, if everyone bent over backwards to accomodate him, he would still find some thing to shout about !! MY moan is that there are so many people telling us how it should be run, but didn't have the minerals to enter in the first place !!! I have enjoyed the hosting of other

    Lee, this isn't the Waterloo Cup, being run over three days !! It's being run over four months ! It's now smack bang in the middle of the season, so why talk about "equal rcovery time" ? I'm sure all the dogs in the comp are doing the same lamping as normal, and the comp should be like any other night, my two heats were !! Also it's not being run under Coursing Rules, it's being run under rules agreed to by the entrants; and the only people complaining or wanting rules changed or added are people who didn't even enter !!! It's the first time this comp has been run, and it will be smoother next

    Fireman is right ! the Wolfhound is now, and in it's present guise probably never was, of any use as a hunting dog in this country ! In Oz there are still working lines, and are regularly crossed with other breeds to get pig dogs. The Wolhound of today is only a relatively new breed; being crossed between what was left of the old Wolfhounds and deerhounds, 'Danes and Mastiffs. Very impressive dogs, but who wants a dog of that size that only has a life expectancy of 6 - 8 years and suffers many maladies, including cancer ?? I like to see them....but as a cross for a Lurcher....... Cheers.

    My mate and the guy that came allong with us got over a fence; I was convinced it was an electric fence, but they had got over it ok ! I put my hand on it and BANG !! my cap went flying and I had that feeling only a man can expeirience !! And when Woodga is mentioned; I was out with him, and he climbed a dry stone wall and it collapsed on to me !! I backed off rapidly, but with a rucksack of rabbits on my back, and a dog trying to leap the wall, I went on my arse !! All part of being out, doing what we love; working the dogs !! Cheers.

Cheers. running a dog ,with out mutch fuel on board .[i supose if you are only out for a hour you would get away with it ]thats what. Running a dog for about an hour ??? LOL !! It takes an hour at least to get to decent lamping ground !! 4 - 6 hours would be about the norm for a decent shine ! Cheers.

    Yeah mate, sorry to be sarcastic; but don't believe what old timers tell you, and don't repeat it on here, just makes you look a prat !! NEVER feed a dog just before going out !! I give mine a half meal in the morning, then, when we get back from a lamping session, she is dried off, brushed down and given the other half of her meal when she has cooled down . Cheers.
