Lamp comp final, last Poll !!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I've been fairly involved in this competition; reached the second round with my bitch, hosted a competitor, drove other competitors to and from the station to their hosts and had the pleasure of judging one of the semi's. Enjoyed it all up to now, and now we are at the climax !!! It should be a classic confrontation; North v South, Dog v Bitch, Big'un v Little'un, and two of the real "characters" in the Lurcher game !! Putting aside the owners, I think it will be very close beetween the dogs; to close to call for me !! Best of luck to LDR and Mark; and of course, to Bruce and Kat !!!! Ho -
The land we ran on last night is usualy heaving with rabbits; the conditions were just about perfect, at least until about halfway theough when the moon came out, so it's inexplicable as to why we only saw a couple of dozen !! The two dogs took almost every rabbit they ran, so you can only catch what is there !! I'm sure everyone hopes there is pleanty about for the final; it would be good to finish the comp with a good bag. Cheers.

Just got back from judging the semi final of the lamping competition between LDR and Lamp + Battery. The conditions looked perfect; dark, windy, light rain squalls; but the rabbits were very thin on the ground. At the first drop off, the score was 6 - 5 to L + B, but LDR soon got it back to 6 - 6 ! Both dogs were running well, but with different styles; L + B's Tess runs very like a coursing dog, boxing the rabbits and making some spectacular tumbling strikes, whereas LDR's Bruce is much more like a "typical" lamping dog, walking down the beam and picking up squatters !! Your own dog is ALLWAYS the best, especialy according to your missus ! Dog shows are a bit of fun mate, and have absolutely no reflection on a dogs working ability ! Have a fun day out, with other dog lads, and don't worry about a judges opinion !! Cheers.

1; Collapsed at work last April and have been on sick since with a dodgy heart beat 2:highly unlikely but who knows. which relevant piece did I miss where it said only have an opinion if your in the comp? Y.I.S Leeview You can have as much opinion as you want.......... but if you're NOT in the competition, I doubt it will carry much wheight. Cheers.

2V4 would run a double BYE to the next round that way 2+4 and winner of 5+6 and winner of 7+8=4 dogs that have all run once making it all equal surely? Lee, you still aren't getting it !! Equal runs mean a lot in Coursing, but mean NOTHING in Lamping Competitions !! Me(and LDR), run our dogs on a regular basis over the season, I ran my dog 2 days before my 1st and 2nd heat, as did LDR Do you realy think any of us only run our dogs in the heats of this comp ?? I was out twice last week lamping with LDR, do you think Paul, (Lamp+Battery) is only keeping his bitch back for his semi fina

Except you can't have THREE people , (or dogs), in the next heat !! On a straight, ladder system knockout, IE 32, 16, 8, 4, 2, 1; ypu cannot have people, (or dogs), taking the place of non-runners, apart from the 1st round, and then only if it is written in the rules !! If my 1st round is against a certain dog, then it pulls out , and a different dog is put up to race me, and if it is not written in the rules, why the hell should I race it ??? Once the draw has been done, that should be it !! I know LDR will discuss all rules well before the next comp, and it will be run fair and square, just

People who talk of the "slaughter" of rabbits............... Oooh Sorry Don't mean any offence and we only use that term as a way to quietly giggle about 'the families in the park' expected reaction. Be gently on me, I'm ignorant Any pics of your dogs ?? Yes but I'm not sure how to resize them so I can get them on here. My pics are too large. Use Photobucket, it automaticaly resizes them for the 'net.

Chartpolski+LDR I seem to recall bringing these points up regarding running this comp before in Coursing a BYE is awarded when one dog is withdrawn for whatever reason, the BYE dog still has to run but cant be beaten in the BYE, So in your comp if a BYE arises let a previously beaten dog have another night out (although it cant win) collie greys idea, once again going back to Coursing if 2 BYE's occur the dogs can run each other BUT both go through to the next round and saves messing up future rounds Y.I.S Leeview Sounds good, Lee; but in coursing, all parties would be on the feild o

I think the "bye" should stay; it happens in all types of competition, including Coursing. If you opponent can't run, you get a bye, simple !! I think the draw and the timing of the rounds should be tightened up; drawn out the hat and strict limits on when a round can be run. I think this comp has been run well, even if it has gone a bit over schedule, considering it is the 1st one, and a minority of people have tried to spoil it !! Looking forward to the 2nd semi and the final ! Cheers.

Why be an arsehole, the comp has been run well. for a first attempt; why post stupid comments like this ? I entered the comp for a bit of craic, but didn't realise that c**ts like you would try to destroy it with your false user names. You are obviously Mark or one of his "hand maidens", sad people ! Edited to add... I got knocked out in the 2nd round fair and square by a better dog; Bruce ! But me, LDR and Woodga had a great night out between freinds, well worth the entry fee. If you wern't such a coward you might have some good nights out with friends !

I hadn't read this thread, but LDR mentioned it to me tonight while we were lamping; we were both of the oppinion DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH REPORTERS !! They will tell you anything to get you out there, but the story they write up for their newspaper will be completly different !! It will be all about "savage dogs", "blood thirsty hunters" and "cuddly rabbits being torn to bits" !!!! There is NO reporter that would give this a positive spin; they need sensationalism to sell papers. Please DO NOT be naive enough to fall for this !! Cheers.
