I'd like to thank Barney, (The Bolt), for hosting this heat and for the food and drinks his wife put on for us before and after the heat; I'd also like to thank Paul, (farmer1) for taking my brother out on his permissin with his young dog on the same night; and a HUGE thanks to Paul, (Mally) for putting up me, my brother and 3 dogs, for 4 days, taking us duck shooting and lamping before and after my heat !!! To all the naysayers, this is what this comp is about !!! Meeting likeminded, top lads, and having fun !! Try entering next year, you may just like it !!!! Cheers.

Tomo, the moon was almost FULL, no cloud, no wind, and there were lamps on the permission in front of us, and a Trasnsit van driving the fields and lamping, so hardly good condititions !! I had drove 140 mile and stayed over, so it wasn't a case of not trying !! You didn't enter this years comp because of family commitments, Bolt and myself had to run on this date because of OUR family commitments; he had just got back from NZ , and my family is off to Oz for 4 month next week, so this was the only date we could arrange. We enjoyed ourselves, so why should it worry anyone else ?????

I had Reserve Campion at the Selkirk show a couple of years ago, also Reserve Champion at Hawick, both top shows !I've also judged the Neilston Show, some excellent working dogs !! So not all of us "south of the border" are doubters !! LOL !! Cheers.

Mally and me were walking to a bit of local permission, and the heavens opened !! The rain was coming sideways in sheets, and the wind was bending the trees !! The only thing stopping me getting wetter was my skin !! We decided to carry on, and got 6 in one feild !! They were clapped tight !! I think if they are out when the rain starts, they stay out, JMHO. Cheers.

I will be down there from wednesday to saturday, so it would be great to fit our heat in on thursday. The rain is hammering down here just now, hopefully it will head south !!! Cheers.

my two 6 month old lurchers first rabbits
chartpolski replied to ebony1's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Fkn hell!!! When you see them like that, they don't even look 6 months. I'm quite sure those pups didn't take those rabbits. If they did, the rabbits were probably dead a few days before ! Cheers. so some one keept them with the guts still in , i think not .plus they have been wet .and it was raining last night, plus he is new to this so i dont think he would know how to gut one .and pups that age are more than capable of catching rabbits .mine do at 4 or 5 months . I wasn't going to reply to such nosense; but I can't help mysef!! You are honestly saying you run 16 WEEK OLD -

That pic was giving me a crick in the neck !! LOL !! Here it is the right way round ; But, I must say, those pups look way to young to be working. Cheers. -
I was told about two lads, who last week went out for a shine; they informed the two farmers on who's land they had permission, where they would be, and what they would be doing. They informed the police; told them their vehicle number, where they would be , the farmers phone numbers, etc;and asked for and recieved a report number. Anyway, after the 1st feild and two rabbits, a lunatic in a 4wd tryed to knock them down and then jumped out slashing around with a baseball bat !! He happened to be a local farmer, who had had a drink and decided to take the law into his own hands !! Police were ca

cant get barf any where
chartpolski replied to munsterlurcher's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
That's true mate but this guy is comparing one brand of mixer with another. It ain't going to make a world of difference what brand you use, they are mostly all the same. Obviously if your feeding a working dog on tinned dog food and expect it to put in a shift it ain't gonna happen but to compare one brand of mixer with another and expect miracles is folly. Just going back to my 1st post on this; I feed a cheap complete food, mixed with fresh barf. The complete is instead of rusk or buscuit. The dogs also get mackeral, trout, rabbit, or whatever game I happen to have at the time of the -
cant get barf any where
chartpolski replied to munsterlurcher's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
I'm a great believer in the old addage "you only get out what you put in" ! This probably comes from my Whippet and Greyhound days; but I think it applies more to Lurchers, if you are working them hard ! With track dogs, you can tell by the handicapper, and the oposition, how well your dog is running; but with a Lurcher, it's only against the quarry that you can grade your dog. One night on the lamp, the dog may be OK, but four nights in a row, as I've just done with my bitch, will let you know if the dog is fit or not !! Good feed, good excersise, good kenneling and you can't go far wrong ! -

I've allways used cheap "complete" food mixed with barf; done it for about 45 years, with everything from Terriers to Greyhounds........ never had a problem. Cheers. Where did you get complete food mix 45 year ago? You think there wasn't complete dog food in the 60's ?????? How old are you ????? Cheers. I honestly didn't think you could get complete dog mix back then. I'm 43, you? Wagg have been making complete dog food since 1923; CobbyDog were DELIVERING complete dog food to your door since the 60's ! I'm 57, but I'm sure you knew that ! LOL ! Cheers. -

Tomo, some of us have stopped putting up pics of our nights out, our catches, etc., for this reason !! I't's a shame we can't have a craic on line, and show what our dogs are doing, but there is simply to many dodgy characters in the game now !! Take care mate. Cheers.

Cheers.

"Doneit", if you used some punctuation, we may understand if you are saying the dog is, or is not, any good !! Cheers.
