  1. Might be nice lookers, but I doubt they would be fast enough, so whats the point ? Cheers.
  2. Never had a run in with him.......but I bet you will have pleanty more run ins with him, when his mates on here see you've been putting pics of him up !!!!!! Cheers.
  3. Edited, as pointles replying to some stupid comments. Cheers.
  4. Bunnys; Pure Greyhound blood is REGULARLY added to Non-Ped Whippets, and the first crosses are usualy faster than the second crosses. Cheers.
  5. I understand what you are saying, Andy, but I wasn't realy refering to First crosses, more to what you did to produce Don, for example. That is putting a "pure" back into a Lurcher line every now and again. Some like Dan and Whin are dead set against it, while others do it. Cheers.
  6. To me, it doesn't make a ha'porth of difference to the dogs ability, being rough or smooth, but I'm old fashioned and like the old "hairy Greyhounds" and "hairy Whippets" !! LOL !! Cheers.
  7. Looks like you like the Shar Pei, Red ! I'll bet they are a bit different to the ones bred here ! Cheers.
  8. Lets broaden the question a bit. If you like the big hairy dogs, do you breed cross to cross, or do you put a pure Deerhound back in now and again ? Simarly, if you like Collie crosses, do you breed cross to cross, or do you add a pure Collie from time to time ? I don't have a preference, I have Lurcher to Lurcher and 1st cross. Some, like Dan ,breed best worker to best worker and others like to put a Pure back in now and again. I used Greyhound and Saluki as an example, as these seem to be the most popular "base" breeds. Cheers.
  9. It is about using Pure Greys or Pure Saluki in Lurcher breeding, are they still needed, or is Lurcher to Lurcher the way to go ? Cheers.
  10. What would you use for daytime coursing? His Coyote Hounds. Cheers.
  11. I had a pair of Muckboots; the soles wore flat in a couple of month, the neoprene snagged everything and they split across the toe !! For 60 odd quid, I wasn't impressed ! Cheers.
  12. Was that in Chopwell Woods, by any chance ? Cheers.
  13. I had a pure Saluki that sometimes went into the "stay three feet away" mode, and it's the most frustrating, infuriating thing ! The only way I could get him back when he was like this, was to get in the motor and drive a few feet away, stop and open a door; he would fly into the motor, every single time !! LOL !! One thing for certain though; I'd never take him or any dog like him, ferreting !! They are just not meant for it ! Cheers.
  14. I don't realy "finish" as such. I'm always up to something, even if it's just running a rabbit or two when I'm fishing. Obviously , nothing like the work the dogs do in the "normal",winter season, but there's always something to keep them occupied ! Cheers.
  15. "Mainly Lampers" Seems a strange thing to say; From what I read, some lampers have had only good things to say.... Cheers.
  16. Go on, Cocker !! Lend him one of your bitches !! LOL !! Where do these people come from ???? LMAO !!!! Cheers.
  17. Didn't there used to be,(maybe still is), a "Rabbit Pack" of terriers, that go out ? I seem to remember reading about them on one of the sites ? Cheers.
  18. "Bobbery Packs" used to be quite popular a while back; a couple of Lurchers, Whippets and Terriers all mooching around to see what they could lift. It wasn't supposed to be serious hunting, just a walk with the dogs and a bit sport. On a day like today, it would be far better than sitting here waiting for the football to start !! LOL !! I had my two out for about three hours this morning, and if I'd had a flask of soup or coffee with me, I still wouldn't be home ! Nowt wrong with having a long walk and letting the dogs run loose, catching something is just a bonus ! Cheers.
  19. Moll, can I hire you to come and take a few pics of my big Deer X jumping fences ? LOL ! I've tried a hundred times, but it never works out !! Cheers.
  20. I hope no one will mind me putting up this pic; it was the last time I saw Jimmy...he was a Lurcher man,, R I P.
  21. I won't be there, but I'll be thinking of him and his family. The last time I talked to Jimmy was when I was Runner Up to him at the Scottish Champion Of Champions, a few years ago. He was a Lurcher Man...............Enough Said.

  24. I never saw the dog, Andy, but I have spoke to the owner, and both that dog and it's litter sister, which was supposed to be a better worker, both met their end doing what they were bred for, taking pig ! Cheers.
