I’ve had to good a day to bite mate ! Have a go at Bangers, he’s feeling left out ! LOL ! Cheers.
-
Jack ? JACK ! Isn’t in my vocabulary, mate ! LOL ! Cheers.

If it came on top for Grebby, he would just shape shift, morph into his myriad of identities, disappear into the ether and the police would have more chance of finding the Scarlet Pimpernel ! They seek him here; They seek him there; They seek that damned elusive Pardus everywhere ! Apologies to Baroness Orczy , Cheers.

Yeah, I’m getting mixed up with the rugby player. I should know his name, he wanted to buy a deer/grey off me ! Cheers. .

Be careful mate ! I know people who tried every loophole to carry on coursing; On permission, using falcons with the dogs, carrying guns and saying the dogs were just flushing or picking up….nothing worked, and some very high profile people prosecuted, like Sir Robin Prescott and Clarissa Wright. Cheers.

Max has just mated his bitch with the fastest non-ped whippet/greyhound ever; I might be temper for a real whizz banger, 12 minute plodders are no good these days ! ( mC will be in shortly wanting a race on the slop in January ! LOL ! ). Cheers.

I’m seriously thinking of a new pup now my bitch is four years old. I’ll be 73 when I go over to see the Irish lads. Most of my life I’ve never any permission, but to be honest, for daytime coursing , I’m on and of the land quickly, not like the old days when I’d walk the land for hours, safe in the knowledge I’d be long gone before any busy body got to a phone box. These days you don’t even see the busy bodies , they’ve video’d you and the police have your car number and just lift you at home. You just have to be more careful, use your head, these days. Cheers.

I thought it was just me ! Ive been rebooting my ‘phone, then I realised other sites are working normal ! Cheers.
-
Makes me look forward to the trip even more ! LOL ! I should bring mC with me , he would bore them into submission telling them about his Salukis ! Cheers.
-
Rab and the Armagh Sniper say you are a good lad, if a bit mental, so that’s good enough for me ! Cheers.

“Many have tried ,and many have failed” ! LOL ! Cheers.

I’ve seen the videos mate ! LOL ! Ive told you, my only caveat is I don’t do any digging ! Ive had one terrier in almost 60 years of working dogs, and I was quickly convinced that wasn’t for me ! Ive been out with many good men, and the first thing I say is; “ if I’m doing something I shouldn’t be, tell me. ; if I’m not doing something I should be be , tell me ! “ I’ve never been out with anyone who complained about me afterwards, and I’ve been invited back many times. And that’s , literally, all over the world ! Im really looking forward to seeing you all, but remembe

Never to old to learn , mate, that’s why I’ve travelled so much to see others work their dogs ! Cheers.

I only go to Hunt Shows these days to support my local hunts, and let’s not forget the money from lurcher and terrier and hound showing and racing goes towards the survival of the Hunts. Cheers.
-
That’s exactly how I see it. People with binoculars watching the race unfold across the fell tops then the mad dash of the run in. Very fit hounds and people who can condition a dog. Theres plenty of people show and race lurchers whose dogs have never seen a rabbit. It has no bearing on my type of lurcher work, but is a good day out in the summer months. Cheers.
-
That’s what I’ve been saying all along ! The trail is laid in a circular route around the fell, then when the hounds are nearing the finish the owners holler and wave towels and such and the hounds come racing in. Cheers.
-
Yeah, I’ll have a go at most things, specialised at nothing. Cheers.

The light brindle was 23” and the other one was 29 1/2 “ The pup levelled out at 28 1/2” Cheers.

At the Percy Hunt with my hairy hounds ! LOL ! Introducing a young deer/grey to the Morpeth Hunt hounds ; Cheers.

People will have different terms in different areas. I know some of the Cumbrian packs are known as “fell packs” but are still foxhounds. One of my local packs has joint meets sometimes with the Ullswater on the Northumberland fells; the hounds I’ll be watching at Steelrigg are known as both “Fell hounds” and “Trailhounds”. They don’t hunt fox, they race and look finer built than traditional foxhounds. Cheers
-
I was hunting in Australia with the Barwon Hunt and they use a mixed pack of what they call English Foxhounds and Irish Beagles; The Black and Tan ones are the Irish beagles, nothing like what we call beagles. I know in Cumbrian the Fell hound is used for racing and looks much racier than a foxhound, as I said , I’ll try and get some pictures. Cheers.
