  8. Although I’ve never used, or wanted to use gps tracking on my dogs, of course there’s far more to lurcher work than point and slip coursing ! I fully understand the use of gps and thermal imagery, but as someone who works mainly without permission, that’s a lot to invest in if it gets confiscated ! If I worked permission, I would probably think about gps. Cheers.
  9. I didn’t do anything to my courgettes except feed them once a week with tomato food and they are producing loads ! My cucumbers are just starting to flower so I’ll wait and see . Cheers.
  10. I used my free tickets and stayed at my daughters in Dubai then flew on to Saudi and stayed at my sons, so it basically cost me very little. My free airline tickets and friends and family around the world have allowed me to go to places I might not otherwise could have done. Got a trip to Ireland planned that I’m very much looking forward to, and going to Saudi where one of the in-laws is planning fishing and hunting trips. My missus had a trip to Finland and I’m very jealous, ice fishing, ptarmigan shooting , dog and reindeer sledding, so I’m hoping to fit that trip in before i
  11. Hamed was a friend of my daughter when she lived in Dubai and he phoned me and invited me to see his kennels in Abu Dhabi and his falconry mews in Dubai so I went out for a month. Cheers.
  12. No quarantine from Saudi now. mC should just book a cheap package holiday to Dubai, I’d put him in touch with Hamed Ghunaim, he’d sort him a decent bitch. Cheers.
  13. Bangers, so all you want is a “ point and slip” dog ? I consider myself a “dog worker” , not a “ dog trainer”, but I start a pup/ young dog on a 30 yard long leash, it trains them not to range too far, and to return when you call them. 30’ long leash and a rabbit skin training dummy. Easy to teach your dog recall, retrieving and not to range too far ; You will cover far more ground with a dog that quarters a field and ranges about 30 yards around you, and find more game than just “point and slip”. Each to their own i suppose but it’s daft to denigrate a decently trai
  14. I’ve walked big land mate, and still do; Cheers.
  15. I want my dogs to hunt up daytime! Nothing better than sitting on a bit of high ground and watching the dog quarter a field; the nose is down, the tail goes up, the pace quickens, a hare explodes out of its seat and its game in ! Cheets.
  16. My deerhound cross ranges about 50 yards in front of me daytime, but on the lamp is straight back when the lamp goes off My previous two, a beddy type and a deerhound cross were the same. I can’t remember any specific training for them to do this, other than recall. Maybe I got lucky , but all the running dogs I’ve had were more or less the same, except for those damned Salukis, those fuckers were a law until themselves ! LOL ! Cheers.
  17. Yeah I know the water factory. I lived on Sharah Nasria in the middle of Riyadh in a block of flats called L22 owned by Lockheed, When I went to work on the “Phoenix Program “ for Rio Tinto Zinc, I was Site Engineer on Sharbatly Village in the desert outside Jeddah. When I worked for the Airline I lived for twenty years where everyone wanted to live, Saudia City and had a beach cabin on Obhur Creek on the Red Sea. My daughter in law and grandson live in Jeddah. I love the Arab Peninsula and visit as often as I can. Cheers.
  18. The “Armagh Rifleman” says we are going to have a “potch party “ in his S & M dungeon ! Don’t think I like the sound of that ! LOL ! Cheers.
  19. I know “siddiqi”, (Arabic for “ my friend “), very VERY well ! LOL ! Made, drank and sold enough of it. 100% pure alcohol,we would “cut” it two to one with water and drink it with coke or seven up, but my personal favourite mixer was Orange Tang , “ the drink that went to the moon “ ! LOL !We put it through the still a minimum of three times, but up to five times. The Philipino’s put it through once or twice and it was rank ! At the Saudi Aramco camp in Dammam, new hires were given the “ Blue Flame “ booklet that showed how to distill alchohol safely, after a few amateur dist
  20. Keep fresh meat in the ‘fridge, just feed a golf ball sized amount at regular intervals until the pup loses interest. Pups will keep you busy. Cheers.
  21. It’s called chocolate sweet pepper, I’ve never grew them before. I’ve also got chocolate hot chillis growing. Dont know what they taste like but I’ve grown chocolate tomatoes before and they sure don’t taste like chocolate ! LOL ! Cheers.
  22. I worked on the military side as a contractor for Lockheed at the Air Defence Centre in Riyadh as a Specialist instructor to the Royal Saudi Air Force, and on the civilian side directly for Saudia Airlines at Jeddah Back in the 70’s I had the choice of a lot of jobs; working on a British Antarctic Survey ship, working on the oil rigs for Santa Fe UK, etc; but none could get near the salary and conditions the Saudis were offering. The only job I was offered that came near to the Saudis was when I was offered a job as Engineer at the Power station on Grand Bahama, but I was committed
