I must be THL ‘s new Nostradamus ! LOL ! I posted about this two days ago ! It was all over the news wires that America was withdrawing non-essential personnel from its bases and embassies in the Middle East. Cheers.

I’m ready to be corrected but aren’t P.I.A. owned by the same company as British Steel and jaguar Land Rover , TATA ? Cheers.

Pilots last communication with Air Traffic Control just released; “ May Day…lost thrust , unable to climb”. Seems to confirm my thinking that the aircraft stalled, the video seems to confirm this, but I’ll wait until the data recorders are studied. Cheers.

You’ve got a f****d up sense of humour Wilfy lad ! LOL !

Hi Len, I’m loathe to blame pilot error yet as there isn’t enough information available, that will come when the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder ( the black boxes), have been analysed. What I see, and it is just my opinion on the very little information and videos available, is that the aircraft was struggling to gain altitude, possibly due to lack of thrust, and the crew attempted to increase altitude by increasing the “angle of attack” and , because of the lack of thrust, exceeded the angle caused the aircraft to “stall”. This has nothing to do with engines stal

Remember Prince Phillip saying “ that electrical board looks like it was made by Indians “ ? Cheers.

GBNews, Trump was being interviewed. CNN, Washington Post, Newsweek …… Cheers.

Had a WhatsApp earlier so had a look on the news and it’s breaking on tv news. Seems like Iran may have a nuclear weapon and the Israelis are going to take it out. Non- essential personnel evacuated from American Embassy in Iraq. Cheers.

News coming in Israel about to hit Iran, American airbases in the Middle East are evacuating non-essential personnel. Not a lot of detail, but something seems to be happening. Cheers.

Just my own opinion, but I think Trump bringing RFK Jnr on board was a political master stroke. The Kennedy’s are Democratic icons, many people still revere the memory of John and Robert. For Trump to bring RFK into government allows him to imply that HIS government is a “broad church”. Or maybe I’m just being cynical and RFK really is the best choice to be Americas Health Secretary ? Cheers,

Well over 50 years ago there used to be a gypsy family appear at a lane near Gosforth park , just outside of Newcastle. These weren’t “travellers”, I’d guess they were true Romany ; the man had dark, swarthy skin , green eyes and a sort of ginger Afro ! The woman was a caracature of the old gypsy women that use to come round selling pegs and “ lucky heather “ The kids were barefoot , scruffy, dressed in rags and looked at you with a mixture of bewilderment and distrust. They had an assortment of chickens and dogs, usually Yorkshire terrier and Jack Russells in tea chests, ( r

No mate, my pals go from Newcastle and have stops at Corbridge, Hexham and Alston on the uplands, all downhill from there. Plenty of game and fishing on that route ! LOL ! Cheers.

Typp Ratcher who wrote for Countryman’s Weekly had the contract from the council to remove the motors and caravans that were left. Nice little earner scrapping them . Cheers.

Out the back window now; Cheers.

Reflection from the setting sun going through earths atmosphere. That’s one answer , the other is “ how the f**k do I know “ ? Cheers.

It could be true, imagine the damage if a jet engine was started with a socket inside it ? Or the cost of the strip down to retrieve a dropped socket ? Cheers.

See, your uncle Charts looks after your education ! LOL ! Cheers.

It’s more like a refined paraffin, but they all come from the same source, oil , just refined to different levels. Cheers.

Well, not quite; the petrol engine is , normally , reciprocating, while the turbine is rotating. Remember the Wankel rotating engine in the Mazda ? That was a sort of a combination of the two. The turbine IS an internal combustion engine, like the petrol and diesel engines , but operates on a different principle. The “fan” is driven by combusted fuel and pushes the heated gas into a compressor or a series of compressors compressing the gasses and heating them even more, creating thrust.
-
Yes they can . Turbines don’t have combustion chambers as such, they have igniters but if Jet A is compressed to a high pressure in the combustion chamber of a diesel engine it will combust. Diesel engines are pretty pointless for aircraft because, as I said, the power to weight ratio isn’t as good as a petrol engine, but it doesn’t mean they couldn’t be used. Cheers.
-
Because it’s a series of time frame stills and the earth doesn’t have a permanent dark side , but the moon does ? Just my guess , Francie, I could be wrong and don’t want a debate, mate . Cheers.
-
Mate, a diesel engine doesn’t necessarily need to run on diesel. They can run on Jet A-1 , the fuel that most aircraft run on, which doesn’t suffer from paraffin waxing. Good try, but “must try harder”as your school reports used to say ! LOL ! Cheers.

Interesting about the fuel . My dad worked at Spadeadam in Cumbria where the Blue Streak rocket was being developed. He was just a maintenance man, not actually involved in the rocket. Anyhow, the Blue Streak was intended as a return strike ICBM in case of a Soviet nuclear strike. Problem was it was fueled by a mixture of kerosene and liquid oxygen. The kerosene was onboard but the liquid oxygen could only be added at the last minute to prevent it from freezing . It took about five minutes to add it to the kerosene in the fuel tanks, and in the event of a Soviet nuclear strike the
