  1. It hit the rail/hare at the end of the race . Cheers.
  2. Had a look there today, unfortunately a small turn out, around 20 dogs. A shame, as it was well organised, and decent trophies. Still, there was some good racing, and my favourite, R.Ch. Mazouma, didn't let me down and won the Dog Section, but sadly split a web and couldn't race in the Supreme Final; he did do an excellent time of 15.10 in his heat, a time the Greyhounds would have been proud of; and he's just 28 lb !! It's a shame more dogs aren't racing, and it will be a sad day if Whippet Racing is consigned to memory only !! Cheers.
  3. If they are only a year old, your own dog will still be a pup and a "learner" as far as work goes ! So it's litter sister will not be far behind ! Give it a go mate; but working two young dogs together will be a handfull !! Cheers.
  4. No advantage whatsoever as far as working is concerned. Cheers.
  5. I couldn't qoute times, mate; but there is a Non-Ped Whippet, (I think it's Whippet/Grey), called Love's Lockdown, that has the track record at two greyhound tracks ! That's the Greyhound Track Record ! Last time I was at a Whippet Open at Cambois, the Whippet Scratch dogs were doing faster times than the Greyhounds, and a 30lb Whippet, R.Ch. Mazouma done faster times than most of the Greyhounds trialing that day !! I'm not saying that Whippets are faster than Greyhounds... this is the top Non-Peds, which are usualy heavily Greyhound blooded anyway, racing over the sprint distance, on a flappi
  6. Well. simply tell everyone who you are, and what you have got against me ! I don't think I've ever called anyone names or claimed to have done anything I haven't actualy done !! Yes, I argue and debate things, and try to correct what I think is wrong ! But isn't that what the forum is about ?? Cheers.
  7. I don't know you mate, (at least I think I don;t). I have coursed hares, my favourite sport, since the 60's until the ban ! I made a sarcastic comment and you bit, big time ! That's what I found "Ironic" ! You couldn't, or wouldn't ,see that by answering that I hadn't ran a hare, when any amount of people know that I have ran many hares, (pre ban) was "ironic" ! It probably isn't best debating irony or sarcasm at this time on a friday night, (and I'm off out in an hour), so let's leave it at that ! Cheers.
  8. 2 went down badger sett and other in rock piles seen another hit rabbit sett serious? Why do some people disbelieve that hares sometimes go to ground when hard pressed ??? Cheers. was i talkin to you internet hunter No.... you were just talking nonsense ! Cheers. if you have nothing constuctive to say on this topic look at a non hunting topic on general chat have you seen a hare getting chased by a lurcher in a field by the way No..................... It's against the law, aint it ? But you, obviously have not done much hare coursing, if any, if you didn't know
  9. Have you got the Whippet in Oz, mate? Heres a couple of decent Whippets in Oz; And that's a very nice Stag, aswell !! Cheers.

  18. There ia a Non-Ped Whippet Open on sunday at Cambois Greyhound Track, Blyth, Northumberland. It's great to see these wee dogs running the bends, and last time, there were scratch dogs doing times that Greyhounds would be proud of ! A good day out if you're interested in running dogs ! Cheers.
  19. I don't know. It belongs to Bullcat on Ozziedoggers, but I'd guess it's from working stock, like thier Wolfhounds and Deerhounds. Cheers.
  20. Here's a working Borzoi in Australia; Bit different to the show types here !! Cheers.
  21. This is a 1st cross Collie/Borzoi; The lady who owns it also owns Borzois and, I think, Silkens. She was a member on here, and may be able to add to the discussion. Cheers.
  22. The coat wouldn't be any different in the field to some of the rough coated little lurchers like the beddy crosses Some of them modern beddys have terrible coats,,, proberbly due to crossing god knows what in to the show strains,,, poodle , think some of those British bred borzoi's, had lassie collie added,, another dog with a horrible silky coat. That back on the one pictured would put me off, Wasn't it the other way round, Tomo ? Collies had Borzoi blood added, supposedly to give them a "better" head ? Cheers.
  23. Interesting I didnt think it was possible never mind practised. Here you go, Joe; http://www.akc.org/dna/multisire.cfm Cheers.
  24. Yes; American pedigree breeders have been doing it for years. Evidentely to speed up thier line breeding programmes. Cheers. How do they go about it with any sort of accuracy? I don't think there is any degree of accuracy; they just put two sires to a dam , and DNA test the pups. Cheers.
