Whippet racing - looking for book tips
chartpolski replied to Rakete's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Never really seen ""sides" with non-peds; people race, course, hunt, show them, some have a go at the lot, but never really seen people knock what others do. Its been a passion of mine for over 50 years, most arguments I've seen has been on the track. Cheers. -
Whippet racing - looking for book tips

Most of the racing people I know are pro hunting. Of course, some of them aren't . Years ago, non-peds were without doubt dual purpose dogs, hunting and racing, but sure, in today's political climate the racers don't hunt so much, but they certainly aren't anti. Cheers. -
Whippet racing - looking for book tips

Think that is Pauline Wilsons book from back in the 70's. Founder of the Whippet News. I have an origional copy of the book. I met her at a bend racing meet, many years back , early 70's. I was running a bitch called Susan, (Blue Fawn x Young Lucy), in the Scratch Race for her owner. The halcyon days of non-ped racing ! Cheers. -
Fair comment....... Cheers.

We left on January first, 2020.......but a lot of people, including the EU don't seem to realise it ! Cheers.

Sky News have a huge problem right now; they hounded Dominic Cummings, rightly or wrongly, and demanded he was sacked, now half a dozen of their top faces, including Kay Burley and Beth Rigsby have done the same, or even worse in some people's eyes! I love it ! Hypocritical b*****ds !, even that twat Adam Bolton called them " morons" ! Cheers.

I watched that mate ! The snotty bitch might just as well said " I'm a rabid remainer, I hate you, UKIP, THE BREXIT PARTY, and THE REFORM PARTY, you right wing, racist c**t" ". Cheers.

Saying "British Isles" is like saying "North America " , it's nothing to do with the USA, its the area that contains Canada, America and Mexico. The "British Isles " is a group of islands, it's not British, but contains Great Britain. The Republic of Ireland government doesn't refer to "The British Isles " in any official documents, it simply calls them "These Isles", but the term "British Isles " is recognised by the UN and most other international bodies as an area, not a political entity, it's also used in shipping and aviation. Cheers.

Gib is a British overseas territory, like many other places; Ascension, Diego Garcia, Falklands, Tristan De Cuna, to name a few ? Cheers.

Tell it what ? That the island of Ireland is geographically part of the British Isles ? I hate using the phrase, but it is a "fact". Cheers.
-
The political status is different to the geographical status Wilf. Just like Greenland is classed as European, but is part of the North American continental shelf ? Cheers.
-
Yep, geographically, they are, as are the Orkneys and shetlands. I only named the larger, more closely grouped isles. Cheers.

Interesting snippet, (well I think so ?), about "Gret Britain". It has nothing to do with being "great" as in powerfull or better. It comes from when English kings still ruled parts of France. Brittany, in France means "smaller", or "little" Britain, whereas Great Britain , as in the British Isles, means "bigger" or "larger" Britain. And, yes, geographically, the whole island of Ireland , along with England, Scotland, Wales, Isle of Man, are all classed as the British Isles. And there endoth the geography lesson ! LOL ! Cheers.

The EU buy most of our fish, are they really going to boycott or embargo it ? I think the vast majority of Scottish langoustine goes to Spain. If they boycott it, what will they replace it with, and from where ? Cheers.

Have you got a multi meter ? If so, put it on continuity, ISOLATE the power, and check the continuity across the switch. Keep the hob and oven on two seperate supplies, if one or the other goes tits up, you still have one working ? But , if I was you, I'd get an electrician to check it out, no disrespect , but you don't seem to be electrically inclined ! Be safe. Cheers.
-
Get a sparky in , mate ! The hob looks like it's on a smaller amp circuit and the oven is on a higher amp circuit, that's why there's two switches. Ovens are usually hard wired for safety. As Walshie says, check the outlet fuses, or try changing the switch. Cheers.

My missus had to have a pre-procedure Covid test today, two days before the procedure. It was to be done at Newcastles RVI hospital, one of, if not the, main testing centres. The appointment was for 12:00, I dropped her at the door at 11:45 and pulled into a "drop off" parking space, hoping she wouldn't be waiting hours, as the horror stories had implied. She was back in the car at 11:55 and on our way home ! I asked if there was many in there, she said she was the only one, and five nurses sitting around talking ! Ive no doubt her procedure on Friday, (our 45th weddin

I don't really want to get into Irish politics, but in my view of it, the mistakes were made when Ireland got independence. What they got then is much like the devolution Scotland has now. Free travel for people, no real border to speak of. Free passage of goods. Irish allowed to work in the U.K. With special tax breaks. Irish allowed to vote in U.K. elections. Where else in the world can foreigners vote in another countries election ? The UK assumes responsibility for coastal search and rescue. There are many bi-lateral agreements between Ireland and th
