  1. No, they are an AKC breed called "silken Windhounds", basically, (dare I say it ??), line bred whippet x borzoi. Bonny looking things, if you like hairy dogs, but I've never heard of them doing much more than showing and lure coursing. Cheers.
  2. What do you think of these little hairy dogs, mC ? Cheers.
  3. As with most things, there are different views and opinions and we never seem to get the full, unbiased story. From what I see, one of them has dual nationality, UK and Ukraine , and holds both passports, is married to a Ukrainian woman, has a home there and lives there. He's been in the regular Ukrainian army for for years. That doesn't seem to fit the description of "mercenary". There doesn't seem to be a lot of information coming out about the other lad, other than he served four years in the British army. They'll undoubtedly be used for political and propaganda purposes
  4. There's a slight resemblance; ?? Cheers.
  5. There's a Morrocan guy with them, same charges, same sentence. Cheers.
  6. Any amount of foxes, mate. Especially in the fields near houses. I see them almost everyday hanging around my Allotments and the b*****ds cleared out my Cayuga ducks, killed six but only carried off two. To be honest, rabbits aren't my first or second choice of quarry with the type of dogs I keep, I like to run the hares and roe, day or night, but we cover a lot of ground along the Tyne valley and there are certainly nowhere near the rabbit numbers there were, say, back when we were doing the lamping competitions 10-12 years ago. Cheers.
  7. When you used to come off at the Hexham roundabout, before they made the bypass, the verge would be thick with rabbits. Honestly, i lamp from Blucher, through Wallbottle, Newburn, Throckley, Heddon and all the way to Fourstones, both sides of the 69 and hardly see a rabbit. Plenty of hares and roe, though !? Cheers.
  8. I had ferreting permission on Dewley farm, Throckley, but the area is barren of rabbits. It was good to have if you got the pull coming back along the 69 from more productive areas ? I get my hen feed from East Heddon farm, another area barren of rabbits. Cheers.
  9. I hope you're not poaching the land I poach ! ???? ! Cheers.
  10. As the saying goes; "there are lies, damn lies and statistics " ! You can find a bar chart to suit any argument. How about a bar chart of the richest countries in the world ? Or a bar chart of biggest GDP in the world ? See where the UK is then. Cheers.
  11. I'm not seeing them and I can see Throckley from my house ?? Cheers.
  12. Just to elaborate, that's 30 of the origional Arab stallions and "indigenous" mares ? Cheers.
  13. Bit of useless information........ Around 90% of thoroughbreds in the world share the same genes as 30 stallions and mares. Cheers.
  14. Not sure about the details of the film, but watching those for and those against being interviewed on various news channels it looks like it' Sunni Muslims v Shiite Muslims . The producers and financial backers are Muslim, and those wanting it banned are Muslim. The only effect it all seems to be having is people who would never have dreamt of watching it, will do now ! As they say, "There's no such thing as bad publicity" ! Cheers.
  15. Did you see many around Morpeth ? Im just south of there and I'm not seeing many, more hares and roe to be honest ? Cheers.
  16. I like the hairy greyhounds, No particular reason, I've had smooths and there's no difference in performance..........I just like them ! ? Cheers.
  17. Maybe I should have clarified that by saying "genuine people in need claiming benefits". ? Cheers.
  18. Looks like Health and social security take up almost half the tax spend. Cheers.
  19. I never said any thing different, or called anyone a dosser, I'm just speaking from personal experience of people I know quite well. Pensions and pension credits come under Social Security, same as dole money or sick money. What percentage of benefit recipients are signed off the dole and onto the sick, claiming "depression and anxiety", "bad backs" etc. It just moves people from the "unemployed" numbers, and onto the "sick" numbers, but all the money comes out of the social security pot and it doesn't change the actual numbers of people out of work and claiming benefits. J
  20. No, just benefits and social security, the NHS is a seperate budget as far as I'm aware. Cheers.
  21. Benefits cost the UK tax payers £212 BILLION per year. Thats 25% of the entire tax take. Of course, there are people who need the safety net of benefits, but lets be honest, we all know people who are cheating the system. What annoys me is when a politician cheats the system, it's barely a slap on the wrist. The punishment for cheating the benefit system is far more severe ! C'est la vie...... Cheers.
  22. Other parts of "the package" are they are scrapping the £200 loan that would have to be paid back, for our energy bills, and making that a £400 payment that doesn't have to be paid back. Also, the poorest in society will receive a one of payment of £650. And pensioners will get an extra £300 on top of their usual £200 "warm homes" payment. Theres also billions being given to councils to give out in individual circumstances. Very Socialist policy for a Tory government. Cheers.
  23. It's part of the "cost of living package" that Boris announced a couple of weeks ago. If you live in property that is subject to council tax, not all but most will get £150 back from your council. I got a letter this morning inviting me to apply for it. You can do it on line or by phone. Cheers.
  24. I've just applied for my council tax rebate this morning. There was only two options: If you pay by direct debit it will be paid directly into your bank. If you don't pay by direct debit you have to give your bank details. There was no option to get a cheque. Maybe it's different councils policies ? But if people have received a cheque from the government, why don't they cash it at the Post Office ? Cheers.
  25. There are people who are either ignorant, blasé or arrogant of what they can and can't do in the Middle East. The days of adventurers, archaeologists, etc going on digs and bringing treasure out of these countries ended long ago, when we retreated from east of suez. There is still a huge black market in antiquities, but the punishment can be draconian. Theres the old sayings " when in Rome........" and "if you can't do the time.......". In this case, he will probably not serve the full time, he most likely will be released after a while on medical or humanitarian grounds, a
