  1. great pics and interesting method. what ammo do you usually shoot?
  2. I sometimes shoot single tubes mainly 3060 and 4070 with 10mm lead / hex nuts / 11mm steel. I either snare wrap and tuck them straight to the frame or use tabs. Personally I find them more accurate with tabs. pros - great for big ammo or found objects, very quiet, last bloody ages cons - heavy pull weight for speeds compared to flats, i tend to get more fliers with tubes than flats. Like anything practice helps consistency. I keep the same anchor point and gangster hold as i do with flats. I also shoot best with a 100mm outer so I don't bother with the classic tool hook sty
  3. You may find you are more naturally suited to a bigger frame? I shoot best and most intuitively with a 100mm outer width frame anchoring under my cheekbone. Its a bit of a shame as I like the look of little frames but I've experimented enough to know I just shoot better with a larger one and stick with them.
  4. lovely fork! it helps if you can find what outer fork width you are most accurate with, mine it seems to be 100mm so i tried cutting a bit of hazel fork down to exactly that and im just as accurate with my 100mm outer natty as my 100mm outer custom frame. anything under 100mm like 90mm 80mm etc and my shots go much higher that I want [shooting gangster style]
  5. for the gypsy catty: before any cuts double over the tube and stretch it back to give you an idea of how long your tubes should be to shoot comfortably. add on 3cm for allowance of tying on at either end cut your tubes have 4 pieces of string pre cut for tying approx 15 cm mark on the tube with pen 3cm in from each end slide a tube through the pouch hole up to your pen mark - fold back on itself - tie using your string and and a constrictor knot - trim off excess. repeat process for other tube that's your band set done. [ or if yo
  6. looks like one of Glen's? Nice bloke, I started off with a TTF version of that valkyrie i think it was called - had a lot of game with it!
  7. these were with 9.5 steel 25/20 .7 natural latex.
  8. Finally had a chance to get out for a mooch this weekend despite the weather which made it very challenging. Cheers to andysparks on here for the lovely HH it served me well and harvested a couple of nice phez for the table.
  9. small pot, camping stove, tin snips, flush snips and sinker mold with the gaps filled is my setup. pretty basic but i can churn them out rapid.
  10. I have had the metal evo for a while but eventually sold it on. I really wanted to get on with it but just wasnt as comfortable and intuitive in hand as my old faithful multiplex HH. Just my experiance. If it clicks with you then great - lovely bit of bomb proof kit and looks really nice!
  11. theres some modern ally repro milbros on ebay for under 15 quid now. ive even seen a couple try bieng passed off as vintage recently. i got one of the repros it was a fun catty and quite nice but far too narrow forks for me to be consistent.
  12. hi andy thats brilliant exactly what im after ill see if i can pm you cherrs
  13. I had been after a baby bean mold for ages after hearing the hype and eventually got one off joe aswell. It was a beautiful bit of kit and he was really nice to deal with great customer service. After trying them out I concluded that I was having the same terminal results as I was already achieving with 8mm steel but with less accuracy due to a heavier draw and time spent casting so I eventually sold the mold on.
  14. Hello lads I've been shooting really well this year with a HH boardcut and I think I'm probably going to stick with this one for the foreseeable future. Just wanted to ask on the off chance someone on here has a core / custom version they're looking to sell on? atb
  15. strange this old thread has revived, I bought a few bits off GKJ ebay shop in the last year: elastic, few cheap diy frame kits etc and everything turned up in within 5 days or so. Only person I was ever scammed by in the catty community was a guy with a catty page called handmade hunting catapults on fb i think his name was mick dutton. lots of excuses and no postal reciept and then said he refunded the wrong person by accident and just stopped replying to messages. very frustrating. That was before I wised up to paypal goods and services.
  16. thankyou very much. I've started seeing potential forks everywhere when out on walks now lol.
  17. Just thought I'd share a couple nattys I've made during lockdown. The one on the right is now my faveouite shooter the one on the left has some very interesting spalting but is a bit of a small fork width for me so may give to a friend or family member. Both forks worked on with a folding saw / pocket knife / small file / sandpaper / polyeurethane spray varnish. Not sure what the wood is perhaps beech or hawthorne and I quite like leaving a bit of bark on it helps with grip. Really liking the feel of nattys more and more compared to my other hdpe or boardcut cattys.
  18. I had a wasp uniphoxx for a while before selling it on. It wasnt quite for me but it was undeniably well made, well designed and versatile ( ott / ttf / flats / tubes / tabs / wrap and tuck / clips ) Definately worth trying out for yourself to see if you get on with it.
  19. the only other ones i like using are leather with a really coarse rough side and i like shooting the rough side out with a heavy hunting setup as i can grip them really well.
  20. Yes hegarty pouches are pretty much my faveourites. The elastic is some .7 natuaral unamed brand i got off ali express. I got a sample and liked it so much I got another 6 metres for 20 quid or so. use 15/10 for 8mm steels for tergets or can bashing and 20/20 or 25/20 for 9mm leads.
  21. yes! thats exactly what I did - 110mm frame = corner of my mouth anchor point so more consistency and repeatability.
