  1. Just an idea, maybe the whippet just like the greyhound has more fast twitch muscle fibres than say a saluki and thus will bring that explosivness when added to the mix? The old theory is that folk added different breeds to the saluki that first came over here but I've always said, you wouldn't add pit pony to a thoroughbred would you. They had to have a bit of method to their madness, if the saluki couldn't be bettered or improved why did they ever bother adding anything else instead of just sticking to the pures?
  2. No, not having it, impossible. ??
  3. You can have Donald Trump and Bill Clinton but please don't take Tom Hanks, say it ain't so.... ??
  4. She looks a big bitch compared to the bitch I was going to get the pup off, she's tiny she is.
  5. So she's better in the slop relative to your bigger and more powerful Romeo dog, see that's usually the opposite with these dogs.
  6. Shave the area mate and bath in salt water a few times a day and buy some of that Leucillin spray, if it is a hot spot the sooner you react the less it should spread.
  7. We just changed an old iron bridge at Christmas, pulled it off by the skin of the teeth as they miscalculated the weight of it, we had a 800 tonne crane for the job and it only just pulled the lift off. We could hear the crane driver on the radio to the banksman, he was calling our company every cnut under the sun, funny as fcuk.
  8. Veg is meat? Lamb last, get out of it man. ?
  9. All dogs prefer certain conditions but a good dog should catch on any land at any time IMO. What is it with some of these coursing breds being injury prone, I thought heavy saturated saluki types are meant to be brilliant at avoiding injury and can run on land and ground that would finish off a greyhoundy type?
  10. Probably does make some difference as CN said Casper was his best dog in heavy going and he had the widest feet of any of his dogs. I suppose wide feet help relative to size but I wouldn't necessarily say that the biggest dogs always have the biggest feet relative to their size. I think the strength of the dog counts for a lot like Havelightforcewilltravel will travel said, the lighter framed dogs just struggle more to pull themselves out of the slop more than the tanks do.
  11. Good theory mate but even a 8kg difference is massive in dogs isn't it, you'd think that it would have a bearing on the bottomless ground. As you know yourself mate nothing is ever black & white with dogs.
  12. True mate, they have more power but they are also heavier which in theory should negate that strength advantage. As you know the softer ground gives the lighter hare an advantage but why isn't it the same for dogs? Just a thought that provokes interest.
  13. Here's a question for you. Many lads claim that their smaller and lighter dogs struggle more on the bottomless ground, the lad who's pup I was going to buy said the same about his bitch. He said she struggled more relative to other dogs on the soft ground as she didn't have the power to plough through. But surely on the softer ground it should be the opposite, the heavier dog will sink more than a lighter dog which will take more out of them.
  14. Many do though and shit sticks. Again, the general public are against the killing of foxes with dogs, nothing you can do will ever put you in good light with them.
  15. My parents visited today and brought through some pork that was going out today, our lass made a beauty out of it. Got me thinking, pork is better than beef. My meat rankings. 1. Lamb 2. Pork 3. Beef 4. Chicken All agree. ?
  16. I think you have misunderstood the lad, I think he means in the publics eye. At the end of the day the majority of people these days are alarmed at folk wanting to kill animals for sport, it's the sign of the times.
  17. Calm down it's not Bonfire Night yet.... ?
  18. Speaking of his books, I'm sure I bought the Hare and the Swift Hound years ago but for the life of me can't find it. Does anyone have any pics of the book and some of it's pages, I'll know for sure if I've seen it before.
  19. That's not me, that's Chris.
  20. And never to go lamping on the local rec on Bonfire Night again....
  21. Can anybody help out this poor lad, all he wants for Christmas is some dropped rabbits....
