    hares

My point entirely. If its a bunnie they either get caught or go to ground and the dogs come back. When its a hare, they just run for bloody miles  And in this heat ive got knackered dogs who can hardly walk back to the cottage MOLL. As if to prove the point Moll, tooks dogs for a walk after work last night and saw 3 or 4 hares rise and bog off, the dogs didn't see them. Walked around the field when one rose 10 yards in front of the dogs, managed to grab the terrier and call one dog but the other chased it (no hope of even coming to terms) for a few hundred yards before fo

    hares

See them almost everyday when walking the dogs. Can be a pain in the backside when you just want a walk and one pops uop in front of the dogs. Not that any of mine are fast enough
  8. Depends what you are hunting.....a ridgeback is never going to have the speed to catch deer, hare etc. The ones I have seen would surely struggle for speed and agility with rabbit and fox??
  9. I'm curious Chief, do tell..........................

    Txt Talking

Well done Ian, I have received some private messages that I have refused to reply too because the text talk is impossible to read Wunwin I think you are missing the point, this is not a race issue. This is how todays youth communicate.
  12. I've got 6 now. The original pair cost £75 each about 2 years ago.
  13. The behaviour and movement is relative to normal sized rabbits. You do have to be carefull though cos' a scratch and bite from them is a tad painfull They are quite athletic, the buck cleared a 3'6ft pen to reach a doe
  14. I've seen black rabbits and even a dutch rabbit in the fields not too far from me. Think these would need a badger sett rather than a warren to fit in

  17. This is one of my Belgian Vlaamse Reuse bunnies. This one is a 19lb buck. I also have a 22lb doe. They were originally bred for meat but are now kept mainly for show. Could be interesting if a small colony bred in the wild

  20. Small mistake in my earlier post. meant to say no.4 36g. Do you think these will be sufficient to drop Charlie
  21. Read that book a few years ago, has anyone read Diary of a pig hunter by Reg Carr. Some good yarns about hunting pigs in New Zealand.
  22. I've been using those cartridges for pigeon, magpies and crows. I've also just purchased a box of Gamebore clear winners (no6, 36g) to try and solve the farmers fox problem. Hes lost 30 lambs in 10 weeks The other week I spent an entire day wandering around two hundred acres but couldn't even find an earth so me and my shooting partner spent the early evening yesterday clearing the cattle sheds of pigeons. The farmer then told us that the fox (hes shot 4) was eating a dead lamb in the yard in the middle of the afternoon. We tried calling him in but it just barked back at us before we de

    Chickens

Just wondering if anyone else had seen unusual behaviour in domestic animals? A few days ago I watched my chickens kill and eat a couple of mice under the shed and this afternoon they spent there time pulling chicks from a nest in the hedge and killing them
