I've lived in both towns and villages but now live in a small Lincolnshire town and less than 600 yards are open fields for the next 15 miles to the next town. that said I would love to live in a more remote location (The outback ). I am lucky that I also work in the countryside and my office window overlooks 500 acres . I think the spirit of the countryside is either in your blood or not, I have friends in Nottingham that cannot stand to leave the town centre and be away from the shops, pubs etc. :sick:

Used to be a dog warden and the council decided to train us as pest controllers to help with cover. Two different contracts, farms and residentuial housing and I got the latter Dealt with fleas, wasps and rodents but always used poisons, never got the chance to use dog on rats. The only problem with small companies is that the council treated residential properties for free.

i dont know of anyone who owns or works this cross,and i cant understand why anyone would.using american pitbull in lurcher breeding,is going backwards,not forwards.we should be striving to breed lurchers with brains, good feet,good coats,and less aggression,dogs like these cant be classed as allround hunters.if its pig hunting you do,then these would do the job, but each to their own.regards collie john. :11: :11: I've got a couple of his books, ratting, rabbiting and the patterdale. :whistle: I was looking at his book on Gary Middletons lakaleands at the weekend but instead chose to buy Dave Harcombes book, every mans hand. I just feel all his books lack any real depth and the photos are pretty crap, also I pray that one day he opens a page and thinks "who the f**k drew that" and realise it was him

I've just bought a second copy (I didn't want to ruin the first) so I can get them framed and hung over the fire. Seans drawings always remind me of what would happen if you blindfolded and drugged Rolf Harris before letting him loose on a canvas with fresh dog excrement Personally I couldn't draw the curtains but then I wouldnt fill books with drawings so bad I cringe and have to shut the page

Tracking down deer, coursing and catching them, stick him in the classified section and solve your mates problem I'd work on obedience away from the filed but yes, electric (please don't call them shock :whistle: ) collars do work if you have TIMING

Cheers Stabs, Had years of stick at secondary school so well used to it Read your articles in EDRD a few years ago about hunting pigs in Queensland, you mentioned in one about the night sky in Oz being brighter than anywhere in the world and your dead right. I'll ensure I stay well clear of wombats mate I'll put them on my list with snakes, spiders, sharks, jellyfish........... Cheers Markbrick, good to hear NSW will be well stocked :whistle:

Drive through off licenses, empty beaches, wildlife, VB beer, open spaces and the chance to sit and relax in your garden without thermals and an umbrella...........not sure in Australia is ready for me spilling out of a pair of speedos :sick: Hope it does come off and we end up there. Now I know a lot of stuff is hunted with dogs in Oz and through pm's a couple of ozzy lads have kindly answered my questions but legally what can be hunted with dogs, i wouldn't want to get collared and deported straight away Stabs, hope you find good homes for your dogs i think Queensland would be too hum

I have seen dogs of his line, all three were soley used for ferreting and daytime work and were excellent. By the owners admission the dogs weren't good enough for hare and didn't like fox.

Sorry Ozhound, The 3 dogs are two European working shepherds and my Nuttall bred Patterdale, unfortunately shes been neutered
