  1. Docking of working dogs is still legal as stated BUT finding a vet that will dock isn't easy. My dad ended up going to his farm vet as no pet vets in the area would do it and he tried a fair few vets. The one i'm registered with refused flatly and the nurse looked at me as though I was the spawn of hell!
  2. I'd take them off. Its not like the pubs really know a lot about it anyway and it can avoid a lot of pain in later life.
  3. I haven't heard one yet but my dad may have done on the farm. Its definately starting to feel more summery but we all know how quicky that can change!
  4. I can cook you cheeky sod! She's lovely isn't she, bless her. Not seen her for yonks mind!
  5. You may have to cover it up as some dogs will lick sudocrem etc off. If he's still not putting weight on it and you can't find anything in the cut a poultice might help draw out anything nasty.
  6. I use sudocrem if any of mine cut themselves but if he's not putting weight on it make sure there is nothing like a thorn or anything in the cut if you haven't already. Griff cut his pad the other day and wouldn't put weight on it for about 5 minutes until he found something interesting and then he forgot all about it!
  7. My facebook. Heres me but can you let me know what your username is if you add me or i'll get confused.
  8. I'm addicted to it! I started a thread ages ago, but then i'm a bit sad like that!

    bebo

I got rid of my bebo, I never really liked it. I spend far too much time on facebook though!
  10. Mr Teapot you can keep him! I like my men a little more rugged and with less of the face fuzz!
  11. I've seen videos like that far too many times. I know there are people on here that train greys and i'm sure they do a sterling job, i'm in no way against racing or trainers but its a sad fact that too many are bred every year and just not enough homes out there for the ones that retire or like my lad don't make the track in the first place. I'd have thought after 4 years of having a grey and being involved in rescue I may have hardened myself a little to the wrongs that go on but i'm a soft cow, some of those pictures never fail to bring a tear to my eye. Having owned greys I know wha
  12. Its disgusting that adults conduct themselves in this way but pre school children?! Doesn't bode well for thier future, little b*****ds want teaching a bloody good lesson!

    Free PS2

My daughter has been begging me for months but at not quite 7 i'm still in two minds as I don't want her in front of the tv for hours on end. I was never allowed anything like that at her age, I was always out with the ponies instead. I have been thinking about a Wii as they actually take some movement etc but I fear I may spend more time on it than she will! Its a lovely gesture though, hope it finds a good home.
  14. Sorry to hear you had problems and lost pups but at least the bitch is ok and you have one healthy pup. I hope they both continue to do well.
  15. I've seen a very dark fox about before but they aren't all that common are they.
  16. Great pic! I'm hoping to get some decent pics of water voles with my new camera, the shutter speed on my old one was just too slow to get them when we saw them.
  17. The snakes and the lizard are great but you can keep the creepy crawlies.
  18. Thanks for the comments everyone. Hopefully there will be more next season. The staghound packs and presumably the buckhound packs also, use two hounds to hunt the deer FJager so it is as close to proper hunting as possible although I was told on saturday by an old boy with the D&S that its not the same anymore, I wish now that i'd made a decision to go pre ban but hindsight is a wonderful thing! My knowledge is still only very basic on the subject. I was pleasantly suprised by the friendliness of both packs, everyone was very welcoming to myself and Tiegan but I suspect it helped
  19. Um... You've got me stumped on that one! I don't know a great deal about staghound packs, yesterday was my first day with them. So far as I know they are staghounds, slightly bigger than foxhounds but I don't know what breeding goes into the pack etc. I think they are recognised in their own right. I shall find out and return... If anyone else knows in the meantime please do add!
  20. I can now add the Devon and Somerset Staghounds and the Tiverton staghounds to my poor list for this season.
  21. We had an excellent day. In all the years my dad has been going stag hunting i've never been but i'll definately go again in future!
  22. The staghound packs only use two hounds at a time to keep within the law but others are transported in the back of a landrover for when those two get tired.
  23. Well, my day started at 4am as I had to pick my dad up at 6 for the 3 hour drive to the West Country. We stopped at a friend of his for coffee just outside of Dulverton and then headed to the meet for 11am. The hounds and staff of The Devon and Somerset Staghounds going into the meet. Some of the hounds at the meet. The field set off and the majority of the hounds were loaded into a landrover with the first set heading off with the huntsman. We left the meet shortly afterwards and headed off in the direction that they were taking the hounds for the first draw. As we only
