  1. They might need landing gear . If they have a brain and control their speed. He's onto a winner. Good luck . That's a similar way bred the wee buzz dog you liked tomo
  2. Aye they are crap . No good size land ,and they don't get run enough lol
  3. Get his swimmers tested before the bitch breaks . Will save a lot of waiting etc for possibly nothing
  4. Knew a 15 year old to sire a very good litter
  5. Good gear that . All the px products ( ornikil etc ) kill most pathogens. Kills covid 19 on contact
  6. As has been said before , a fast dog that runs slow . Good wind and mouth and your half way there
  7. Stiffy, I think Ian is talking past tense . As the man says he hasn't owned a lot of saluki xs. And more than likely compared the saluki hybrids of the 80s when I'm sure he was at the game hardest . As you say wee bob sharpened the mongrel bred bitches he went to up . I have had 2 out him and both very good dogs . But to say one of them was the best in the country, no , I haven't seen most dogs go . Run Annan myself, and whilst you can get a good hare anywhere . I do find a higher percentage of Mr rights pop up on the far south East Coast of Scotland . Again its all opinions. Enjoy your do
  8. I can only go with vids etc .and a lot of footage was France and ploughs .
  9. Jmo , but steadier types can loose out on run jp to a bit cover and loose sight mate
  10. Edited to say , I heard bully wasn't endless like bog for instance . Totally different types
  11. Can't agree in steady types being as fast . They ain't mate . Some just fall far from the tree . Simples . However some siblings can have totally different styles. Look at woolys , they tend to be slower etc
  12. Basically I'm saying even a top hare can make a mistake and be killed . But yeh , agree the best hares are still not under control even at 3 mins . As for lucas . Dog was top notch by all accounts even if I personally have no time for owner . The dog was immaculate and a real killer. Tell me.do you think bully woulda stopped the lucas on a real hare hare ?
  13. I was running them for 40 year mate . I know exactly what a strong un is . But I've also seen an electric dog bamboozle a hare that was flying early . Making me wonder " was he a real un " but he made one mistake and payed price , whereas a steadiier type wasn't pressuring enough to capitalise on the hares one mistake . So no ond can say it wasn't a real un . Just like we can't say otherwise. Also been out pre ban and one dogs consistently catching at 2/3 mins and others at 4/5 mins constantly. To me the steadiier type owner can't surely be thinking he's riding all the goodens and the faster
  14. The do if they are bashed on plough at the end of someone's toe lol . And again , I tend to disagree to an extent . If a dog forces a mistake and hare gets outdone. How will we ever know it was / wasn't a gooden. I chuckle when I hear this . How many have been put up and owner is standing there thinking, here we go . Dog looks a superstar for 60 seconds. Shoulda put it away a couple of times. Then little hare gives himself a shake and pulls said dog all over the land . Now imho, that hare would be talked about as a real un . Whereas he coulda been caught in 50 seconds with a sharp killer
  15. Agree and disagree mate . A top dog will be testing a real good winter boy regularly. Forcing a mistake if possible. Yeh Geoff was good lad . Hills was a good site . But imho , a good dog kills anywhere. Stock broken, taught to jump wire , if the dog has good gears , brain and good steam , should kill anywhere in UK
  16. My first sal x was out tor o dartmoor. Was amazing watching her in the early 90s run the arable. Was bred to a coursing grey . But she fell to the sal . Great memories
  17. Surely in a bygone era. The Afghan hound was a dog with a purpose. Otherwise they wouldn't have been formed . Who's to say there sint a strain still being worked out there and we are doing the animal's a disservice. Look at the early saluki hybrids here in the early 80s to now . Things change , so much so that the arabs came back to the uk to help their lines out . Their lack of wisdom is our gain . Especially wiping out most prey that they ran . Jmho
  18. It would be nice if someone local could even loan this young lad a seasoned ferret . Get the ball rolling so to speak . And lewis , with every mistake and blank . Your still learning something. Trial and error young man . And as has been said . You will be on top of the world when all your efforts come good
  19. I actually take more pleasure in catching a few from different areas and reintroducing them in other areas late January. Then watching their progress . I personally get more enjoyment in that than nutting them . Just keeping a few for pot
