Good work mate. I checked my grass field, nothing when I was there. A rapper?? Sweet wrapper you mean? -
I would have to rethink it then. Maybe work them in daylight.

Lol. Just heard a funny tale.... A local estate has a strange keeper. I use to help him fox wise but he was so miserable I came off, that was years ago. He is an isolationist. Any way the badger men have just done a survey at night for a look see etc. They saw two badgers ( not surprising considering the ground is so hard) but wait for it.....drum roll.......32 fox's!! Muppet. -
So, I had 2&1/2 hours....

Get them down. Well done your friend. I use to do the same. We use to call the quad a dinner gong for Charlie, as soon as it was gone Charlie would move in. Excellent work. I have some fresh cut grass where I been leaving a pigeon or two. Last I checked there was feathers just like Charlie leaves them. "I'll be back". -

I have a job to find one fit for me real head! -
....to escape from grandkids! Took a smoke pole and dug in under a sittie tree. Winged vermin and a hand full of woodies for just five shots, can't complain but boy is it hot! I was glad to knock the cap of a cold cider when I got in! It was good to burn the black stuff again..I don't know why it is not more popular! I err forgot my sunglasses! Note the high tech camo. Works well!

By gum lads, every time I look at and enquire about these things it puts me off! I only used my un stealthy torch and a curvey 22lr the other night, I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I guess your fox's must be something special around your ways. I'd hate to have to spend that much cash just to sort a varmint out. I will see how long I can keep a torch working but I dred the day my local fox's get as smart as elsewhere. Good luck to you you must have a tough time of it ?

All day painting the kitchen with the Mrs. All done I needed a break but it's hot! I know let's go sit under that sitty tree on the spring barley! The mighty 410 I took and some Fiocchi 7narf target loads 3"...to be honest I only needed the lighter loads as the ranges were short but hey ho. It was a nice break and the woodies deterred from the grain for another day for the farmer.

Had a quick walk around when out of the marl pit came a howling growling wail of a call. Defo fox. I walked away in the pasture next to it only to return 20 minutes later and bingo I stepped on a fox as I rounded a knob in the field. Amazingly it stopped at 50 yards and gave me a shot. With the rifle resting on the forearm and torch in hand the sights settled on the shoulder and a shot rang out. The collapsed fox was done in but if there is one thing you should do with a 22 it's keep shooting! A rapid succession of shots sealed the deal the Winchester lasers functioning the rifle pe

Out at first light with the hushpower 12g. It did well on winged vermin and a rat. A squirrel X3 but then started playing up again. When I got home I found out why. The trigger block that is made of something resembling cheese had snapped in two resulting in a loss of hammer impetus to the firing pin. A call to the dealer and he has promised to look for a doner Pedretti to scavenge the trigger block from.....bloody thing. I was doing alright by it too..... Anyway house chores done and I got out again with my 22. It did ok. Eight squirrels. Only one female! It was

Your not kidding mate, look how big this one is. This fallow doe came of the neighboring estate in a bad way, shot in a back leg. Fortunately the wmr ended its misery with one shot. If I had a hmr I would of had to walk away. Sorry Gav, I mis quoted you.....should of been the bigger mice quote ?
-
Deker, I would never even attempt to change your opinion. ?

My wmr does crows ok mate. And rabbit. ?

Need more info Wilf. Do you want to eat any of your victims? What kind of country? What ranges do you expect to be shooting at? I somewhat shocked by my colleagues!N Notone of them suggested a 22 wmr! If you do go with a hmr get a swift like rifle, one that shoulders like a shotgun, those mice are twitchy little feller's!

What's wrong with fox curry?

And then it all went wrong! It started mis firing yesterday. It went from 100% on Friday to zero yesterday! It would fire a cartridge on the second strike of the pin. All investigations point to the hammer spring going weak. There is no issue with the pin that is apart from it operating at an angle to the cartridge and not in the center of the primer, that in itself will make it very susceptible to any weakness in the hammer strike. Even the the sound of it is weak! If I preload the original spring it returns to about 75% reliability so I have orderd some spring of the same
