  1. Most rifles sold today are sold as free floating but in actual fact they are not. Some have little pressure pads and them that don't don't have enough clearance around the barrel channel. My last turn bolt would not group with several loads. It was only when I noticed the closed bolt was touching the stock and rectified that the rifle suddenly was transformed. When I then got 4mm clearance all around the barrel it then became a one hole grouper with a variety of loads. No glass bedding.
  2. Gav it may be nowt to do with glass bedding. None of my rifles ever had glass bedding, like your service rifle.
  3. They often kick off when they see another cock ?
  4. Is there anything I can put on the rubber butt pad to stop it gripping?
  5. Seems a bit extreme just to shoot a shotgun mate, besides, I'm not into kinky underwear.....anymore.
  6. Your pushing your luck I'm warning you! You want a .40" plus hole in them things! If one runs up your trouser leg you'll know it!
  7. I will have to ask mate thanks. It's chuffin freezing out ?. I might sand the rubber down.
  8. Well done, how many did you see then?
  9. My hatsan auto is about 1/2" to long in the stock for winter gear, and it has a stupid grippy rubber pad for girls. I have it as short as possible but it has some dumb shaping to the pad too. How can I shorten it some more?
  10. Not speaking for Si but I remove the bolt, fix the rifle down, squint at a distant subject down the bore then without moving the rifle look where the scope reticle is.
  11. Can't fault you si with your choice of 6.5. it's a classic round that shoots pencil long bullets that just go on and on and on. Mine was a T3 lite and plinking off hand over 600 yards was a giggle. Your mate wants to watch that hmr on weasels! Them little monkeys are fast and have teeth! Personally I would go with 45/70 for a dedicated weasel rig. SD.
  12. There was a study done and I think some did revisit the same area but I don't truly remember.
  13. Meece, I have loaded hundreds of 3/4oz loads in 12g. And 7/8oz. Plenty good to be honest. However, I don't fuss over the square load thing. In saying that I don't advocate more is better. There is only so much one can do without drastic diminishing returns. The main reason for the heavy shot load in this 410 is that it makes it subsonic. I also do a load of 1/4oz for the garden on green dot. #7 is also a favourite of mine also. You don't need a large pellet to break birds necks and heads! #7 is very good in my cylinder muzzleloaders too.
  14. You never know! The right summer and we could be over run with them !!
  15. The only 17 off the shelf of any use is the 17Rem. Just my opinion ?
  16. 3" yes but I have got 3/4oz in 2&1/2" too. Just about.
  17. I remember the little diaries, they had some good info in them. This bird was taken with a reload involving h110, kitchen toweling, thin cards and 3/4oz of #8 sent to me by Baldcoot on here ?.
  18. So now we have moved onto moobs now! Lol.
  19. S&B hornet ammo is good too and reasonable price wise.
  20. I think she was referring to acting like a cock! The morning or night thing doesn't really get noticed anymore....? Hen pheasants start turning back into cocks when they get old, like women growing moustaches and beards I guess, or is that just a Welsh thing?
