  1. if its a dedicated gun lamp i would recommend Nightsearcher 400 Gunlamp, not the cheapest but does the bizz without any rewiring. 1,000,000 cp with focus and variety of filters available including ir. The build quality is exceptional, all aliminium no plastic. They go on forever my shooting buddy has one that he bought in 1999 still going strong. http://www.brighteyesandbobtails.co.uk/aca...cher_Lamps.html if i didnt use the dogs i would have one but i use the clulite, same as DS coz the handle and gunmount are interchangable, its a ruddy lump on top of the gun though compared to the N
  2. Nice one, im very interested. Get a pic up for me mate
  3. i wouldnt personally, dont like the idea of them starving while surrounded by food if they got lost. i've never lost a ferret but it would still bother me. it might also help starting very early in the morning (first light), i find they bolt better then so she shouldnt get a chance to kill, also be very quiet and keep all the gear out the way so theres no reason for them to turn back and face the ferret. Good luck!
  4. You cant go wrong with that one mate. i bought one 10 years ago and it worked as well last night as it did the day i bought it! i cant rate them highly enough!!! its worth spending the money, those things from Homebase are not worth a w*nk, if you want a full nights lamping you'd have to carry about 10 of them!
  5. All good points re; H&S (im a chippy so i have to deal with enough of that crap at work!) but cant see too much bother with ferreting or dogwork. As i said before i will get the ball rolling, any lads from Sussex fancy a day out with the ferrets? Dont take the piss though, this an offer to give lads without any permission a go not a free for all on my permission for people who have their own
  6. Hawklad and Saluki, are those guns available to swap? Have you got any pics? Cheers
  7. Exactly the kind of thing i was thinking of! Nice one
  8. Would anyone be up for taking an interested youngster out with them to drag a few more away from their Playstations and into the fields? From reading the posts on here seems like theres quite a few youngsters interested but without any knowledge or contacts and when they come on here asking the occasional daft question they just get a pasting. Maybe it would be more constructive to help them out and give them the chance to go out with someone experienced? After all, they are the future of our sport (assuming it has one ) i dont know exactly how it would work but i would be willing to
  9. Heres a couple of Tyla a few months on
  10. Yes, it runs on CO2 and i will throw in a couple of boxes of gas and a tin of pellets for the right springer.
  11. Still here, somebody must have a decent springer surplus to requirements
  12. Your a real gent! This the second time you've offered your shooting out to people on here and after the response last time im suprised you bothered again. if i were closer i would love to take you up on it but a bit far from me. its good to see hunters willing to give others the benefit of the doubt. Without co-operation our sport will just fade away as youngsters either never get interested in the first place or are put off by the response they get when they take an interest. A round of applause for you
  13. When i was a kid we used to go cherry picking in the Summer and camped in the orchards we worked in. We often ate them as they were a pest eating the cherries and easy to shoot plenty. You have to skin them as their skin tastes vile and we used to chuck them in a pan with veggies and stock and cook them slowly as a casserole. Not a lot of meat on them though!
  14. Have you still got it? Cant do face to face though unless you ever come down South?
  15. They are stunners, cant believe you havent had your hand bitten off (not literally of course) Would have had one but got two pups on the go already. Good luck and good hunting!
  16. Look on the internet for local air gun clubs, they are the best place to start.
  17. i've got a soft spot for webleys but would consider anything lightweight, break barrell and full power. What have you got?
  18. Would you be interested in swapping for a Ratcatcher plus some money? Pics are on another thread but can send if you interested. Thanks

Thanks Molly, im fairly new to the forums so maybe that'll help but i have a fair amount of permission and worked as a keeper for a year long ago and a gunsmiths after that. Admittedly i dont have a lot a contacts in the sport any more but i have been wondering if its the area? i have simply not heard of rats in those numbers down South except tips, dumps etc. Maybe they are here but people keep them a secret? i've only recently got my dogs and dont know anyone else round here who uses dogs so maybe im just out of the loop? Either way i will continue to enjoy your posts and pics fro

    Bowhunting

Voted yes because if everything were banned because there are twats about who abuse it then we wouldnt be able to do anything ..... oh wait ... too late already happened! Also the people who would hunt irresponsibly, if bow hunting were legal, wouldnt care whether it was legal or not and are probably doing it now anyway. On the other hand those who would hunt responsibly with a gun would also do so with a bow, and cannot. Hyperthecically if we end up stopping people carrying out their sport because we disaprove does that not make us the same as the league and all the others who force
  21. www.horsemart.co.uk is good too. Good luck with it!
  22. Hes great, your right about the attitude, they're feisty buggers! Had my mates staff pup over for the last week while was on hols and they were tag teaming the lurcher! Pups missing him since my mate picked him up though but the Tyla, the lurcher, is pleased! Good luck for the weekend!

As i've got the pic up does anyone want to swap a break barrell springer for my ratty? i just fancy a change and maybe a bit more power as most of my shooting now is rabbits and not so much ferals. i am open to sensible offers but would prefer something lightweight.
  24. Thanks mate, got four netted but lost two from bolts holes we missed, there was a heavy wind the night before so leaves were ankle deep. Hows your pup doing?
