  1. A few years back my mate had two dogs he bought off a traveller, they would disappear into the dark on command and only come back when called. it was very useful several times Annoyingly, one of the dogs was stolen off him a year later, we always suspected the guy he got them off but no way of proving it. They jumped out of a transit as he was walking down a lane early one morning and would have had both but my mate was a bit handy if you know what i mean and i think they were more than happy to get the one. Not many people knew where he was going hence our suspicions. i also tried

    CLOTHING

ebay, dont worry if itsfake the rabbits dont care and its only going to get covered in mud and blood anyway!
  3. im with Greengrass3, probably worth waiting for the fallow On a more sensible note, i've never heard of squirrels doing that but have often seen them mobbing ground predators, including me! i wonder if its a wide spread anti predation tactic or a one off like the Blackbird catching fish fry that was caught on film a few years ago. Thats the best thing about nature, dosent matter how long you study it, you will never stop learning, i love it
  4. Sorry to hear that, looked a cracking dog.
  5. i know the feeling! it comes back quick though, its quite refreshing to be able to shoot as much as you like without worrying about air fills. i must have pumped about 150 shots out yesterday, plinking at anything. By the end of the day the old skills were coming back. i recommend it, it was great fun! im going to try and use it as much as poss over the next few weeks to get back to how i was shooting as a kid. Then back to the Falcon and watch out bunnies
  6. They are both just over the £100 mark if you shop around for a good deal and run at just over 11 ft/lbs so close on legal limit power, plenty for hunting. Either would make an ideal starter hunting rifle or a cheap and handy addition to the cabinet for the experienced hunter. i will be using mine while out with the lurcher as the gun tends to get a few knocks if your concerntrating on the dog especially when you have to run to keep the bunny in the beam. Thats what first inspired me to get one, i dropped my falcon while trying to get through a hedge and keep lamping at the same time luckily
  7. Where? Cured to what degree, salt dried or proper tanned? if its just dried i'd be very interested.
  8. Lovely dog, i wouldnt like to guess what the breeding is though. Like Frank says, as long as he/she does the job its all good. Good hunting!
  9. After years of only shooting PCPs me and my mate recently decided our shooting has suffered, they have made us lazy and let us both develop bad habits. We bought a cheap springer each, mine is a Gamo Quickshot and his a Gamo Shadowmatic both in .177, the idea being that spring guns are hard task masters and will not allow the slack habits we want to get rid of!!! This became very apparent when we came to zero them but after a bit of back to basics practice they were both set up for 30 yds and ready to go. Having planned a days ferreting yesterday had a look out the window early and had a r
  10. got headache now think i got it now thanks Hes a corker, how big was he? We took the biggest grass snake out of the mother in laws pond last summer. it still had two gold fish in! We released it but got a photo somewhere, i'll have a look for it.
  11. As long as its warm, dry and dark anything really. Decent pair of wellies in winter is a must though, new neoprene muck boots this year - cost a bit but feet are always warm and dry . My pet hate is noisy clothes anything that rustles, creaks, rattles etc is no good for me .
  12. My thoughts exactly, i hunt and im proud of it, i dont bait and i would be ashamed of myself if i did - whether it was in the name of training or not. Different strokes for different folks i suppose but that aint for me.
  13. its not only you mate, im between Brighton and Crawley. Reckon your right though,we are in the minority! Just means more rabbits for us! does that make u about h/heath or burgess hill tyla Yep, thats the area . Not going to be exact on here though. Are you in B'ton or just that area? Good to see someone local on here, are you mainly a shooter or dogman or bit of everything?
  14. i picked up a nice little gamo the other day with neat little red dot included although i swapped that for a scope.its pretty much the same spec as the lightening just cheaper, if you are interested PM me, i might be able to get you a deal as its my old boss at Westons in Brighton.
  15. They are going great. They get on fine with the other two and im very happy! We will be out again on saturday so will post a few more pics. Thanks again.
  16. The above available, willing to sell or swap for hunting gear. Very useful bit of kit but typically wont fit my new V reg van Keeps all the dog and rabbit related related muck from getting on the van itself, pull out to hose down in seconds and dosent absorb smells like ply lining  Anything considered as its in the way of the shed door

  18. They look the bollocks mate! Nice job
  19. Keep your eyes open in the sell or swap section on here. You could get full rig incl charging gear scope etc for that money. Second hand is always a better deal unless you are buying at the bottom end of the market. i would go for pre charge rather than springer as they are easier to shoot and you wont need to upgrade in a year which alot of people do if they get really into it. Good luck and good hunting!!
  20. its still here, somebody must have ferals to shoot?

  23. Another cracking story mate! You should write for a magazine or something Sounds like you have some great shooting there, i have my fair share of permission but yours seems exceptional. We were out last night too, lovely weather for it. Rabbits were sitting so tight wasnt sporting to shoot them - luckily we had the dog! Keep 'em coming!
