    Big Cats in the UK

Wow! i have just realised how lucky i am, when my family were on holiday in wachula, fl about 20 years ago (i was 8 so details are a tad hazy) we saw a puma on the side of the highway. i remember that part distinctly and i has stuck with me ever since. We knew they were rare but didnt know they were supposed to be extinct. A bit off the thread i know but pleased me no end
  2. Welcome, you will find plenty of knowledgable people on here, check out the lurcher forum. Good luck with your pup and get some pics up so we can see her! Happy hunting!
  3. i posted recently about a porcupine killed and have since heard about racoon, woodchuck and chipmunk. What else is out there????
  4. The worst thing about this is the fact that they are all so sure they're right and yet they know sooo little about the reality of what they are talking about. i studied wildlife habitat management for two years and one of my lecturers was like this while another was an old keeper. He knew more about wildlife and the countryside than she could ever hope to and yet she made it very difficult for those on the course who were field sportsmen. Needless to say, we never got on and that was reflected in my results. The problem is that its a numbers game and there simply are not enough of us. i de

A keeper i used to go lamping with was always certain sure he'd seen one while out on the lamp near ditchling beacon, would have been in the mid nineties, he always took a .243 with him after that but never saw it again. Yet again no proof though
  6. Cheers guys, the bag should have been better except a fox had the first 2 bunnies we shot. We left them to collect on the way back and he ate half of one and scarpered with the other just as we got back, we tried to squeak him back but he waited a while looking out of the hedge then buggered off taking our rabbit with him. Such is life, next time i will take the 20 bore just in case. its the first time i've been out with the rifle in a while and it took some time to get back into the swing of using the lamp gun mounted. Been concerntrating on the pup too much this year! Still its nice to b
  7. Thanks guys, sounds like it could be a handy dog.
  8. Had a couple of hours out with my mate on our new permission. The weather was rubbish, too light and odd gusty wind but we got a few. i cant wait to hit this place on a good night, plenty of rabbits there. Weapons of choice were .22 Rapid and .20 Falcon. We went without the dog as i fancied a bit of shooting for a change!
  9. yes its true . have you seen the pic ? No, some of my permission is near there so thats how i heard about it. Was it above or below ground? i wonder where it came from
  10. i heard this from a guy i know well who works close to where its supposed to have happened. Anyone else heard anything similar?
  11. There were three left, red, brindle and black and white. We are having the red. i have never bought a dog without seeing it before but my missus has been looking a while and is set on these. i would love to help you out too but, again, wrong location. its a bugger not having a hunting buddy. Good luck!

Just so happens my girlfriend's mate's mum is driving down from inverness next week, what are the chances!?!?! The pups for my missus and i hope to work him alongside my bitch, shes got the legs but not really interested in cover, they should be a good combination i hope!
  14. Sorry to hear it, fingers crossed for you. Good luck!
  15. Me too and my girlfriend. if enough people sign up maybe those w*nkers will take some notice. i wont hold my breath though
  16. My missus is looking at one from Dogger on this site, anyone had any experience with this cross?
  17. Looks like a cracking day out. im green with envy! My pups is just gone 7 mths and as keen as mustard, its agony not slipping her but i dont want to bring her on too quick. Enjoy your next day out!
  18. They set them low in the factory to cover themselves, its probably set up with a real heavy pellet like Bisley Magnum which will give hgher power than a light one. The only problem with settng up at full power with your choice of pellets is that it would probably be over the limit with magnums. if you are likely to get your gun tested by the police you have to remember that they test with their pellets not yours. To cover you arse get the gun tested by a gunsmith on their chrono with your brand of pellets and ask them to write out a certificate of its power with those pellets and then kee
  19. Cheers mate, it was very helpful. i have the b*****d thing under control now, with a few more practices i should be able to try it in the field!
  20. Beautiful dog, i hope he gets the new start he deserves. Well done for saving him too.
  21. i hate to say it but get it fixed, sell it and buy a better gun. sorry mate
