  1. its been patchy for me this season. At the beginning on my usual permissions i was struggling to find many when, not long ago, they were overrun. Overall there are definately less rabbits around here compared to a few years ago. Because of this i've been out and found more permission which has given me higher numbers but now the ferreting here is over and one of the dogs is out of action it looks like the new bits will have to wait til next season. Still, im not complaining, gives me something to look forward to and a chance to spend time over the summer learning the new land
  2. You've got a way with words mate. Felt like i was there! What a brilliant day out, well done
  3. Thanks for the replies, its £40 plus postage or buyer collects. i will get down the post office this morning and get a price
  4. Cheers buster it looks just like that one but i have added a shoulder strap as i hate having the battery on my belt.
  5. As above, its a handy little lamp to use with the airgun. i've shot loads of rabbits with it while i've had it but go lamping with the dogs now so i use the bigger lamp. it had a new battery last year and i've kept charging and discharging it to keep the battery good. ideal starter lamp for someone
  6. Calm down lads, he said he was sorry. He's only young, he'll learn
  7. Exactly how much shooting have you done? Wasnt it only last week you shot your first rabbit with the air gun? i dont want to put a damper on your enthusiasm lad but you cant be an instant expert on everything, maybe gain a bit more experience before you go knocking other people? Try it, you might find you get less grief on here too
  8. A cracking job mate! After you sketched it out on the blank what tools did you use to shape it? im out of work at the moment so looking for stuff to keep me occupied
  9. Dogs know the difference, our JRTxwhippet is always killing rats at the stables and loves it but my missus can have her pet rats on the floor with him and he dosent bat an eye. My mate also had a coursing bitch that would run rabbits and hares all day long then, at home, let the kids pet rabbit cuddle up in the dog bed! i think dogs understand alot more than we give them credit for sometimes!

Carpenter, but not had any work for three weeks and dosent look like i will get any til mid april - and then only maybe! On the upside i've been out with the dogs and guns a lot more recently!
  11. i caught alot of them last summer, very tasty. i never made my own traps though, cant see the point when they're only a fiver on ebay?
  12. Looks like you did well . i was out last night and blanked, only saw three rabbits and got one run which Parker missed. i reckon the rabbits down here are soft and dont like the rain, last night should've been perfect, wet, wild and windy but got out there, got soaked and got f*ck all! i was there a few nights back on a naff, windless night just to give the dog a run and they were all over Such is life
  13. i've always just gven them away, either to mates or to a bop centre but now im out of work so i've started selling them. i get between £1.25 -1.50 gutted but have to be netted, dogged or headshot, he wont take any with pellets in. its not much but it covers fuel and dog and ferret food
  14. Brilliant!!! Thats cheered me up, just got in from lamping - got soaking wet and blanked but now im happy again! Pure class
  15. Thats it pretty much, now you've made me think about it. its used as a description of a persons behaviour rather than their ancestry, a "p***y" to me is someone who steals, cant be trusted, has no respect etc. Would be just as likely to be settled, or gorger as you guys say, as a traveller. As i said in my last post, the one you replied to, there are wankers from all walks of life. This is all about a misunderstanding of the word p***y, maybe we use it wrong, maybe it does only mean gyspy but i dont think so. i have no problem with travellers but i do have a problem with pikeys - to me th
  16. Eaten loads of them in the past but tend to give them to the ferrets now. They taste best in spring and autunm when they are either eating new leaf buds or nuts. They can be a bit bitter in the depths of winter as they eat alot more bark. Thats what i think anyway
  17. Good luck to both of you and lets hope its a nice dark, windy night with no injuries
  18. Yoggerman, you know me from another site. i gotta back up JV here, i live in the same area and p***y around here dosent just mean gypsy/traveller. its a kind of catch all term for the kind of people that thieve dogs, just as likely to be non traveller as traveller. Sure there are gyspys who steal dogs, same as there are non gypsys who do - you get w*nkers everywhere thats just life. it may be that we use the term wrong but thats what he means, its not just another pop at travellers
  19. English, enough french and swahili to get along but with awful grammar
  20. Somebody get rid of these posts, makes everyone look bad. The game seasons, which i do know off the top of my head, are posted all over this site as are all the species on the general licence. What you shoot is your own business but posting illegal or out of season game up here is just plain stupid. Enough said
  21. it will come with age ,dont bother rushing things You must be f*cking old then pal
  22. Glad im not as bored as you mate
  23. inform the farmer and suggest he padlocks the gates. its a nuisance but it will solve the livestock issue and most farmers do it anyway. As for the personal saftey issue the chances are no one whos poaching is going to approach another lamper in case its the farmer so you should be ok. Do you think this has been happening before and you are only noticing it now you are out and about on the land at night? Good luck and keep us posted!
  24. I don't know what you mean, jealous of Parker, do I know you? haha, it did spur me on to knuckle down. That is frustrating about Tyla, understatement for you I guess, I would be well 'expletived' off! i am mate, its gutting. Shes hardly been out at all this season as shes been so unlucky She hates training, she seems to learn by doing, she will hardly even look at a dummy but was starting to retrieve rabbits before she got hurt. Once she can go out a little bit i will try your method from the book, if it works as well for her as it did for Boz i will be stoked! Fingers crossed
  25. They are no good for proper lamping but i have one in the car for the odd spur of the moment shine in fact i used it last night when i tried to go lamping with the airgun, i say tried because i forgot to put the clulite in the van . As i was there anyway i had a walk round with the handheld thing, it didnt last long but long enough to shoot a couple
