  1. Take him some where quiet and away from dog walkers and make retreaving a game and once he looks to be getting bored stop and start again next time out, also use a dummy or tug toy to throw and if dog don't give back just offer him a treat and anything like mine they do anything for a custard cream ? I don't no many lurchers that can be called off something when it's in pursuit of prey and that's what a squirrel is. if I was you I'd get a ferret and get him broken to it and get him out as you might find things click once he as a few rabbits bolted to him ,
  2. Does he catch much ? could do with getting me stinkers rigged up ?
  3. I don't see how letting a juk stand in water going to help with nettle stings ,try it on yourself by sticking your hands in water after getting stung ,it may help for a min but once out the water it stings more ? Pop a antihistamine tablet in dogs mouth or get some alavera gel and rub into pads as this works with my 3 , My old whippet x not bothered about nettles but it drives young bitch mad and the gel always calms her down, Atb
  4. Camrosa is good stuff , My youn runner started to loose her fur in patches when we changed the living room carpet and she was scratching all the time ,carpet came back up and scratching stopped , I rubbed coconut oil into her skin and this helped . It could be yeast infection but it could be many things from food to a new cleaning product that makes dogs scratch and of course mange , Hope all turns out OK
  5. He's a nice type ,things will soon come together atb
  6. Try ferreting small places at first and stay away from large bramble patches until you got bit of experience with working ferrets ,once you get hang of ferret finder and ferrets bolted a few then go on to bigger places, Do you have a dog ? As they can be great help and I wouldn't go without one but that's me Take your time ,look after your team and you be OK ?
  7. I give my whippet thing one a month because he had fox lungworm and he got it because he's a dirty b.......d that rolls in anything and always scavenging even though he's fed the best and as no need but that's dogs for ya
  8. Amount times I've clogged the washing machine up washing dog beds and jackets ,like you I've had ear ache so go cleaners ?
  9. It's all over UK now and several different types and some hard to treat . My advise to any dog owner is regular worm counts and worm with milbamax every 3 month and if your dog eats anything it shouldn't on field pop one in its mouth just to be sure as lungworm nasty thing for a dog to get .
  10. Thing is you wouldn't even know your dog got lungworm for months if you don't get regular worm counts as it takes a while to make a dog cough or show signs of it and 99 % of the time vet will say dog got kennel cough as they don't like looking out the box and it can take several visits before they look elsewhere, and slugs are only one way of getting it ,it can be spread if your dog like to roll in crap or eats something while out in field ,lungworm as many diffrent types and some are harder to kill than others ,panacur will treat it buy like been said have to give every day for a week and tha
  11. You saying spot on wormer cleared mange up ? I very much dout it was the spot on that done the trick and do you no for sure it was mange and not just a reaction to a new household cleaner etc as lots of stuff can make a dog loose hair and get sore ,mange is hard to shift at best of times .
  12. I'm looking for a frame ,are these any good bud
  13. I'm looking for a new frame ,if anyone got one for sale pm me ,
  14. I'm not saying they not good bit of kit as they are but for taking a few kaneys off roost is over kill do you not think ? As let's face it any place you see pheasants in the day they will be roosting near by at night so it's not hard to find them , I no lads who got spotters for deer ,fox and even hares and of course they useful bits of kit especially if you a keeper or getting payed to clear stuff I'd rather go out just like I have done for nearly 4o Yr "just me a dog and lamp " and if I have a blank night because quarry stayed out of sight then no problem as it makes the good night
  15. Like been said maybe got infection so best to get it checked just in case , .
  16. Nice looking pup ,them two youngsters going to be best of pals and up to all kinds of mischief. Atb
  17. Me uncul always used a collie at night for any kind of net work and for day time long netting he would get his brother and me mum to pull a drag line and push stuff into nets . He used the drag line a lot yrs ago but rabbit numbers was high back then and taking 20s sometimes more was the norm but it be hard to find numbers today in the day time , you might do OK at night but I'd be wanting a collie or gun dog or a old lurcher to push them towards the nets . Atb
  18. I have a book called long netting peg to peg ,if you would like it send me pm with address and I pop it in post after Xmas for you ,once you read it then put it up for someone else ,atb mooch Book tells you all you need to no

  22. Advocate load of rubbish ,the vets are payed by manufacturer to palm this off to customers but I cam tell you it doesn't work ,I'd much rather pop a milbamax in knowing it's going to prevent and clear lungworm than put a spot on' on me dogs fur that's toxic to everything but worms ?
  23. Pm the lad I said ,he get you sorted and milbamax and drontal would be best way to go in my opinion. Mess about with jabs when just pop a pill in .
