  1. mine spends far more time in cover, hedgerows, brambles, embankments etc than it does running. if I required a more running type lamping etc I would certainly look for a dash of greyhound blood added to it.
  2. I have had several both first cross and beddywhippet x beddywhippet and all mine I have to say lacked a few gears on longer slips, other stuff.
  3. I think it's getting less popular among working people. other crosses are more popular and versatile. some prefer pure whippets or grews for rabbits. if you want a dog for lamping and other stuff you don't buy a beddywhippet. they are excellent ferreting dogs, marking working cover picking up short 20 yard dashes. the odd pheasant, squirrel etc. that's all I need from a mutt and they suit me fine.
  4. I would say poxon on here has answered it many times really. it's a very popular cross among the pet brigade and horsey set. it's the peddlers favourite, a very good seller so being churned out for money from any show beddy and whippet they can find.
  5. Good luck to you in your search. if you want it for work which I assume you do being on this site. good working stock ones are very much a minority.
  6. can't beat 4z for longnets mind?
  7. I don't have a problem with the 10z ones or even better the cross braid nylon. find the spun polly is like wool.
  8. what's wrong with nylon Terry? they are a lot better than the spun polly malarkey.
  9. saw this litter and some on the same site at £1650.they are this price because Joe public is paying it. while people will pay it they will charge it.
  10. it's hard to know what the true numbers are. often people say I have seen loads of rabbits, in reality there is only a few, Joe public will see 6 rabbits on a field and call it a plague. I took a trip to the coast last Thursday though Lincolnshire, saw 4 young rabbits and nothing knocked over. this trip years ago would have seen scores of rabbits on grass verges plus a lot run over. we live in hope?
  11. hope you are keeping your eyes open for netting drops on these mooches Mr W.
  12. brought me first lurcher from Woodhouse, your talking happy days there mate?
  13. I think North Wales but lads on here know far more about him and whippets than me. I was commenting because most of the Mike brown stuff I have seen on here have been blacks and blues.
  14. nice bitch makes a change not to be a blue or black ?
  15. he is saying shoot the same really.
  16. I am now finding good grouping at around 15 meters at straight targets. shooting upwards I am way off do I need to change my anchor point?
  17. there is a huge difference between rural thief's and vandals, that fxxck things up and good dog lads, its easy to get all holier than thou when you have permission but a lot forget how things were.
  18. Big percentage of lads on here started out as poachers.
  19. your dead right there mate. little dog run into a stump this morning, looks like bruising to the shoulder she's only 22 pounds but it's knocked her back she's in her bed looking sorry for herself.
  20. you don't get many like that he sounds like a good un?
  21. it was always good to get on grazing land early in season longnetting a few drops on those type of places too hot to get on with a dog or ferrets. nowadays though rifle men are at it all summer so that's fxxked now.
  22. couldn't afford one these days. couple of litters last week £1000.one this week £1200.
  23. Think that would be a good move. seems to be popular now a lot are running collie x whippet grey, and Bedlington x whippet grey. or a cross between the two. if I was a younger man and was lamping again and running a bit of variety that's the way I would be going ?
